2002 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air Ws6, 6-speed, T-tops on 2040-cars
Herscher, Illinois, United States
You are looking at a VERY CLEAN, unmolested 2002 Pontiac Trans Am! This car has everything you would want in a TA. The LS1 runs great, the 6 speed trans shifts smooth, T-Tops, Hurst short throw shifter, Flowmaster exhaust, etc. I just put new Nitto 555 tires on all four corners and had the brakes replaced. I have about 90% of all service receipts for the car since it was purchased new. I know the rearend was replaced at 60,000 miles by GM and the power steering pump was replaced at 90,000 by the dealer. I have receipts for these repairs also. It does have a few minor flaws in the paint (a few small rock chips, a little spider cracking on the rear bumper). The only wear on the interior is a small spot on the driver seat and a small crack on the driver interior panel. I have included pics of all flaws. Just trying to be honest about everything so you don't get any surprises. This is one of the nicest daily driven Trans Am's I've seen. I just drove it on vacation to Alabama and back last week and it ran perfect! I've owned this car for the last year and we have only put about 4000 miles on it. I bought this car because of how clean it was, but we just haven't driven it as much as we wanted to. We just bought a house up in the mountains of Alabama and the only road to get there is gravel. I don't want to see it on those kind of roads so if we keep it, it will only get driven less. Please feel free to ask any questions you have and if you want more pictures, just let me know. Thanks.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
