Real Nice Trans Am on 2040-cars

Year:1979 Mileage:43000
Location:

Batesville, Mississippi, United States

Batesville, Mississippi, United States

I HAVE A 1979 PONTIAC TRANS AM. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS. I TRACKED THE ORGINAL OWNER DOWN AND HE BOUGHT IT IN LAS VEGAS AND LATER MOVED TO THE MEMPHIS TN AREA AND SOLD IT TO HIS BROTHER IN 1985. HIS BROTHER WAS GOING TO TRADE IT IN A ONE OF OUR LOCAL CAR LOTS IN 1990 AND MR. JOHNSON BOUGHT IT FOR HIMSELF. HE HAS DRIVEN IT AROUND TOWN ABOUT ONCE A WEEK FOR ALL THOSE YEARS AND I GOT IT. IT HAS 43000 ORGINAL MILES, FROM WHAT I CAN TELL AND KNOW, IT HAS NOT HAD A BOLT TURNED ON THE MOTOR OTHER THAN A STARTER AND ALTERNATOR ETC. IT IS RUST FREE AND RUNS GREAT WITH THE ORGINAL 403 MOTOR AND TRANS. I HAD THE SEATS REDONE BECAUSE OF A TEAR IN THE DRIVERS SEAT, OTHER THAN THAT I HAVE DRIVEN AND ENJOYED IT. I DONT HAVE TO SELL IT BUT MIGHT GET ME SOMETHING ELSE. A FEW PECKS IN THE PAINT BUT NOTHING SERIOUS, SHINES GOOD AND RUNS GREAT. THIS IS A NUMBERS MATCHING, AND WHEN I SAY RUST FREE "I MEAN RUST FREE"  I DARE U TO FIND A RUST SPOT ON IT. IT IS A SOUTHERN CAR SOLID LIKE THE DAY IT WAS BUILT. GET IN IT AND DRIVE IT ANYWHERE IT THAT DEPENDABLE. SINCE PONTIAC WENT OUT OF BUSINESS THESE CARS ARE ONLY GOING TO RISE IN VALUE. FEEL FREE TO CALL ME IF U WANT--662-934-1957. I JUST BOUGHT A 71 OLDS CUTLASS THAT I WANT TO FIX UP SOME AND THOUGHT I WOULD SELL THE TA. I HAVE THE CAR FOR SALE LOCALLY AND RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION IF I WANT TO. THANKS FOR LOOKING. EVERYTHING WORKS ON THE CAR LIKE IT SHOULD. I ADDED SOME PICTURES OF THE MOTOR AND TRUNK AREA THAT SOMEONE HAD A QUESTION ABOUT, I MOVED THE CARPET IN THE TRUNK TO SHOW HOW ORGINIAL IT IS WITH NO RUST THANKS

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.
