General: 1977 unrestored L/78 W/72 T/A 6.6 Pontiac Trans Am with just 28500 miles. I have owned the car over ten years and am the second private owner. The car has been garaged its entire life and very well taken care of. Almost all of the car's miles were put on its first year of life. There still  a 1977 inspection sticker from Michigan on the drivers side window. I have only driven the car 3500 miles since then. This  Trans Am is fairly rare being one of 11,402 true T/A  6.6 4 speed cars  built that year out  of 155,736  total  firebirds. Then how many are truly left  in the condition this car is?

Options: this is a low option car with no AC or power windows just the best performance parts for that year

M21 close ratio 4 speed ,AK1 f+r custom seat belts , C49 rear window defrost, A01 soft ray glass, WW7 hood decal, B51 extra insulation, Y92 lamp group, C95 dome lamp, B37 floor mats, B84 body side moldings, B80 roof drip moldings, U58 am+fm radio, Y90 custom trim group, W72 T/A 6.6 liter 4bbl engine

Drive train: 100% numbers matching and all original parts. Only maintenance items (plugs, air filter, battery, one belt, one rad hose)have been changed. The car runs as a new car does. Starts perfectly in the cold weather and the motor sounds smooth . The transmission shifts correctly .  Since I have owned the car I have not had to do any mechanical repairs. It drives down the road with no rattles, tracks straight, and just drives nice.

Body: 80% original paint, never any rust ,and 100% original body parts. The paint looks very good and the car is straight. The decals are in near perfect condition. All glass is perfect. The paint does have some small chips down low on the rockers and one small (pencil tip sized ding) on the rear quarter. Both of these things are very hard to see in a photo. There has been some repainting on the car to correct scratches which were put on the car in 1977 during delivery to the dealer. I have paper work from the original dealer showing this( passenger side door , front bumper, and trunk lid) All repairs match and are done well. At car shows the car looks awesome but it is original paint and  is not perfect. Tail lights, marker lights , front grills and all other body parts look as new.

Interior : Simply, the best you will find on any show car. There are no scuffs, dirt marks or worn writing. The headliner is perfect as is the original carpet. It also has dealer installed cruise control with the original paper on  how to run it. The ash trays have never been used. The dash and gauges are clear and scratch free. The trunk is the best you will find also. It has not a single dirt mark or any signs of wear. The car also has a CB install kit in the trunk that includes a perfect original clip on antenna.

Extras: The car has had two upgrades from stock . The  first is brand new custom billet 17" Year One snowflake wheels with  BFG kdw tires ($4000+) . The second is a true duel custom exhaust($2000)  made out of 2 1/4" stainless with a crossover and a single duel in -duel out flowmaster muffler. This system makes the car sound great and it looks good too. Also the original rally rims with new BFG ta radials will go with the car . The rallys are perfect originals with no damage whatsoever. The trim rings have no scratches and the original valve stem caps are still there.(new valve stems :] )

Lastly I hope you have enjoyed looking. This T/A is truly a special car . I have tried to describe it well but if you want to know more please ask. Phone at  774-678-0756 between 5-8 eastern. I will return all calls.            Thx, Andy

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
