Porsche 356 C Coupe Silver with Red Interior Mileage 59253 Engine #616/15 1600 c.c. 1.6L Four Speed Manual Transmission Generator ATP 731 155 (1964) One of our customers is thinning his collection. Up for auction is his 1965 Porsche 356C. This car is in very good to excellent condition. Somewhat of an older restoration (paint and interior), showing slight age, but still has a very nice presentation. This Porsche drives great, starts right up, idles smooth, pulls effortlessly, and shifts smoothly up and down through the gears. The car feels light and nimble and 4 wheel disc brakes slow it down in a hurry. New parts include: muffler and tail pipes, front sway bar bushings, recent carburetor and tune up work, as well as recent oil service and a fairly new Optima Redtop battery. The car has 185/70 X HR 15 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires and they are like new. The underside is solid and rust free but has had some repairs done over the years. The interior is in beautiful condition with well cared for leather. The car does have some scratches and minor imperfections throughout, but the body is solid and shows no serious imperfections. Some of the chrome could use refinishing. The tach and temp gauges need attention and the heater boxes have been removed. This car is currently located near Baltimore, Maryland. The history of the car is somewhat vague, we believe it may have been in California for some time and then restored in Canada before coming to Baltimore. More photos are available, all questions are welcome and may be directed to Mark at 410-420-1202 or markraspi@aol.com. We will gladly show this car by appointment. |

2015 Porsche Macan S
Thu, 31 Jul 2014I'd be willing to bet that 99 percent of all Porsche Macan owners will never take their vehicle on a track or see any more off-roading than a dirt path to a summer cottage, yet I maintain that there is no better venue to explore the absolute outer limits of the automaker's newest small family transport than on a racing circuit and an off-road course. It's testing at each extreme of the vehicle's operating envelope, with both challenges requiring very different capabilities. With that in mind, and looking forward to dirty floor mats and corded tires, I jumped at the opportunity from Porsche to wring out its new Macan S at Willow Springs International Raceway, located in Southern California's high desert.
The range-topping Macan Turbo (base price $72,300 plus $995 destination), with its 400 horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 gets most of the glory these days. But many, including myself, would argue that its slightly less powerful sibling, the Macan S, is actually the pick of the new litter. Despite having 60 fewer horses under the hood and giving up six-tenths of a second in the sprint to 60 miles per hour, it costs a massive $22,400 less - money better spent on equipment that improves the crossover's ride comfort and capability, or perhaps a well-used Boxster for weekends.
Despite a reasonably attractive starting price of $49,900 (plus destination), very few Porsche buyers will leave the showroom with a base model. My Dark Blue Metallic Macan S tester was equipped with a slew of mechanical upgrades, including air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Sport Chrono Package and 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels. A Premium Package and a few other miscellaneous options bloated its price to $69,870. That's a very steep price for the premium compact crossover segment, but it's still less than a base Macan Turbo.
DP Motorsport tries to turn a vintage Porsche 911 into a sleeper
Tue, 20 Aug 2013Once you get past the fact that it's hard to call a car a sleeper when it has race-product stickers on its quarter panel, and the script across the back panel reads "Porsche 911 3.2 Sleeper," it's fun to imagine what this car can do. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Germany's DP Motorsport took a model from 1986, stripped it of everything - including the paint and undercoating - then replaced everything with lightweight and race-ready parts.
In went race cams and ported cylinder heads, a lightweight flywheel, an RSR titanium racing exhaust, 935-style lollipop seats and RSR carpeting, a lightweight battery, perforated and galvanized hinges and brackets, hardened perspex windows. The 3.2-liter engine puts out 270 horsepower - 70 hp above the stock 911 on sale here in 1986 - and 226 pound-feet of torque through a limited slip differential to staggered wheels. The exterior color is metallic rock-green lacquer.
If you want one, $120,00 is where the part starts, but DP Motorsport says it offers the parts individually if you don't need your vintage Porsche to sleep this hard. On a side note, for a chucklesome journey back in time, check out this review of the 1986 911 that gets things going with this line: "First off, the Porsche 911 is very expensive - how does about 40 thou grab you?" Back on topic, there's a press release below that tells the rest of the story of the 3.2 Sleeper.
Porsche gives GT3 owners extra year of warranty, new engines in production April 22
Sat, 12 Apr 2014While the auto industry reels from massive recall after massive recall, Porsche has quietly been working on a fix for an issue that's forced owners of the new 911 GT3 to park their track-ready rockets for fear of an engine fire. Thanks to a leaked letter from Porsche to a GT3 owner (which has been certified as real), we now have an idea of just where the German brand is at with the fix.
On April 22, Porsche will begin production of a new batch of GT3 engines for the 785 affected models across the globe. As you'll recall, the original issue rested with a screw joint that could loosen the connecting rod. The new engines have an "optimized piston rod screw connection," that should keep the connecting rod in place. Once technical validations are completed, production will kick off and new powerplants will be shipped around the globe for owners of the troubled cars.
Porsche will hand out a certificate to owners of affected cars once repairs have been completed, as a means of documenting the work. To make up for the trouble, Porsche will be giving owners an extra year on their new-vehicle warranty, while the 911 GT3 concierge will be reaching out to compensate them for having to park their car for so long.
