1976 Porsche 911S, a real joy to drive, original miles, original engine, 5-speed manual transmission, transmission is strong, sun roof, flat boxer fuel injected Porsche 6 cylinder engine, original Porsche rims, interior original, shows some wear, but overall in good condition, body in good over all condition (driver car), over all nicks scratches, very little rust, CA car, upgrades to suspension (turbo 911 upgrade struts to front end), interior, speedometer, clock, added oil cooler up front with switch under dash, compression check is 105 on all six cylinders, runs smooth on all six cylinders at rpm and idle, uses some oil, oil leaks here and there, what you would expect from an engine with the miles on it presently, but runs super strong, this 911S has never let me down, all the miles have been open road, with many cross country trips, never hesitated to take it on extended trips and still don't, its a real looker, has the beautiful throaty Porsche engine roar.  For those interested you know that with the present mileage that repairs may be down the road.  The paperwork, service and repairs is somewhat spotty early on in its life, but  since I have owned it going on 4 years now it is current.  The Porsche is a CA car, minimum rust, stored in covered garage w/car cover, prior owner stored in garage as well.  Please ask questions I will answer them to the best of my abilities.  Buyer is responsible for making all arrangements for local pick up or to have the car shipped to their location.  I will do everything I can to assist the buyer in shipment, will drive a reasonable distance to meet carrier, but ultimately it is the buyers responsibility to make those arrangements if it is to be transported by carrier.  The car is presently located in central California in the Sierra foothills near Yosemite National Park.  The car is sold as is so ask questions no returns!

Porsche looks back on very first 911 Turbo

Wed, 11 Jun 2014

Porsche has really hit on a winning formula with its series of videos going inside its vault. So far, we've seen the V8 911 prototype, mid-engine test mule and aerodynamic prototype. The company is sticking with the 911 theme in the latest entry, but this time it's an actual production car - the very first 911 Turbo ever made.
Being the first Turbo would make it important enough, but the car was also a birthday present for Louise Piëch, daughter of Ferdinand Porsche and sister to Ferry Porsche, and she regularly used the car. The family didn't just hand her a random car off the assembly line, either. She got to make it her own with some interesting modifications. She supposedly even painted landscapes from inside the car.
You have to wonder what Piëch thought of her present. The early Turbos had a reputation for being a bit of a handful to drive. The boost tended to bring the power all at once, which wasn't always welcome when cornering. She deserves some honor just for driving the car on the curvy, alpine roads. Scroll down to learn about this important Porsche, and we can't wait to see what car the brand showcases next.

Porsche announces four flavors of updated Cayenne [w/video]

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The new Macan may be getting all the attention lately, but Porsche hasn't forgotten about its larger crossover - the one that put it on the map in 2002 and on the road to profitability, with over half a million sold so far. So to keep the Cayenne at the top of its game, Porsche has announced several key upgrades for the 2015 model.
For starters, Porsche has updated the Cayenne's appearance with new front- and rear-end styling. The front bumper, fenders and hood are entirely new, with air fins flanking the nose to direct air into the intercoolers (each model now being artificially aspirated), and new bi-xenon headlamps and daytime running LEDs on every model but the Turbo, which goes all-LED. Around back there's also new taillights, tailgate handle, lower rear fascia and exhaust pipes. Meanwhile the interior has been upgraded with a 918-derived sport steering wheel and reformed rear seats with available ventilation.
The bigger news is under the engine bay, where Porsche is offering four choices. The base model is gone as the range starts with the Cayenne Diesel, followed by the Cayenne S, the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the top-of-the-line Cayenne Turbo. The Diesel model carries over the same 3.0-liter turbo diesel with 240 horsepower. The Cayenne S however packs a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that's similar to the one found in the Macan Turbo and packs the same 406 lb-ft of torque but more power at 420 hp, 20 more than either its little brother or the model it replaces to reach 62 mph in 5.2 seconds.

Watch the incredibly complicated operation of Porsche's new targa roof

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Despite Porsche having claimed the name, targa tops are nothing new. In addition to the semi-roofless version of the 911, plenty of cars in the past have used removable roof panels - the new Corvette Stingray has one (as have prior generations), and this type of open-air experience has been available on past vehicles like the Pontiac Solstice Coupe and Honda Civic del Sol.
But when Porsche took the top off its brand new 911 Targa here at the Detroit Auto Show, it was indeed cause for pause. Simply put, this is one of the most complicated and intricate electronic roof panel removal techniques we've ever seen, save perhaps, for the setup found on the Japanese-market Civic del Sol from the 1990s.
We won't spoil the video for you, but basically, rather than just the roof panel coming off, the entire rear glass area lifts away the body in order for the small section over the passenger compartment to slide back. This has to be incredibly expensive to repair once it inevitably breaks. And we highly doubt you'll be able to operate this mechanism at any speed.
