My ’89 Carrera is up for sale simply because I have no more room and have purchased another vehicle. I purchased this vehicle in 2010 from a broker in Connecticut who was representing a collector. Since my ownership, the vehicle has had annual oil service, state inspections, and has run flawlessly.             Vehicle came with a considerable amount of documented service history which I will pass onto winning bidder. With the exception of a crack in the dashboard (photo attached) there are no dents, scrapes dings or any other defects with this vehicle. Vehicle does exhibit normal wear, and is being sold “as is”.

I had planned to convert car to the “yellowbird” look and installed the rear bumper. I abandoned the project and never installed the front bumper. I have the front bumper and the original rear bumper with side skirts that I will include with the sale of vehicle.

The Carfax report shows an accident in 2008. I investigated the incident, and discussed it with the mechanical shop that performed most of the repairs and service on the vehicle. They assured me it was a minor incident related to another vehicle sliding on ice at slow speed into the car. As this establishment enjoys a very good reputation, I have no doubt it was indeed as they have stated.

Furthermore, when I had the vehicle repainted, the accident area in question was discovered, and it appeared to be no more than maybe 2x4 inches in area. Paint refresh was performed by a local custom shop known for their attention to detail and they enjoy an outstanding reputation.  All trim was removed, car was wet sanded, and all visible jambs, bonnet and engine bay were painted. Look at the pictures and you can see the quality of their work.

Upgrades to vehicle include the turbo tie-rods, turbo front valance, fog lights, stainless steel sport muffler, Pioneer AM/FM/CD, Polk speakers, Sirius and Ipod connection.  Tires are Toyo Proxis with 80 percent tread life remaining, with the larger 9 x 16 wheels on the back.

Car has a certificate of Authenticity from Porsche.

This car is the real deal, no stories, no excuses.

Supercar parade entering highway is mesmerizing

Thu, 09 May 2013

In what must have looked and sounded to motorists on the M6 like an invasion of The Swarm, a parade of 50 enthusiast gems leaving a charity event were caught shooting down the on-ramp and merging into traffic. There were plenty of Porsches joining the 959 and Ducktail above, Aston Martins going back to the badboy V8 of the last millennium, a Ferrari Testarossa, a TVR and numerous other Easter eggs.
There were not, however, plenty of turn signals, with someone counting just five among the fifty engaging in proper use of the blinker. One reason put forth for that is the same reason we're posting this video, which is from last Summer, below: "because supercar." Enjoy.

New details mooted about Porsche's '988' Ferrari rival

Tue, 08 Jul 2014

We could be on the verge of a big expansion at everyone's favorite rear-engined German sports car manufacturer. Porsche is allegedly preparing a four-car assault that will be led by a proper challenger to the Ferrari 458 Italia (sorry 911).
Code-named "988," the new model will reportedly feature a mid-engined layout and, get this: a flat-8. Autocar, which has the story, expects that engine to displace about 4.0 liters, while the car itself will draw styling inspiration from the 918 Spyder. 600 ponies and over 400 super-accessible pound-feet of torque should be on tap with the new mill.
Joining the 988's supposed eight-cylinder is a new family of four- and six-cylinder boxer engines that Autocar claims will have a focus on power density and fuel economy. These new mills will be available in naturally aspirated, turbocharged and hybrid forms.

Porsche Cayman GT4 speeds back into view

Tue, 18 Nov 2014

We're all familiar with the succession of numbers that follow the letters GT on a hard-core Porsche 911: the GT1 that was Stuttgart's Le Mans contender in the late 90s, the GT2 that packs turbochargers but without the Turbo's all-wheel drive and excess weight, and the naturally aspirated GT3 that's the enthusiast's choice. But a GT4? That's something new, and exactly what Porsche has in store.
Spied testing in Germany once again is the upcoming GT4 version of the Porsche Cayman, set to supersede the existing GTS and take the place of the previous Cayman R at the top of Porsche's junior sports car range. This latest batch of spy shots doesn't show us much more than the last crop, but gives us a much clearer view at what promises to be the most hardcore Cayman to date.
As you can see, the Cayman GT4 packs a much more aggressive aero kit and rolling stock than any version we've seen to date. It's got a lip spoiler, big air dam and GT3-style vent in front of the hood, deep air scoops along the flanks, a set of spindly alloys packing oversized brakes, a diffuser with twin central exhaust tips around back and a rear wing that's likely to be replaced with a sleeker unit before the GT4 reaches production.
