Exceptional car, tastefully and carefully modified, a bit of provenance, with the right options. All work done by well respected Porsche dealers and experts.  No Accidents or Paint Work. Serious offers will be carefully considered.

I have included significant detail which follows. If you are interested in the car we can provide additional information and photographs. The car was washed and vacuumed just before the pictures were taken and the water spots are what is on the blacktop in the photographs. The car's interior, exterior, and, engine bay, could be thoroughly cleaned and or waxed, by the new owner, as I have not done this is some time.  Therefore the car was not detailed before the photographs were taken but you see the car in its everyday state.

I purchased this car in 1995 at 10,700 miles. At approximately 4800 miles the previous collector owner knowledgeably and tastefully installed the following options. All: products, parts, adjustments, and, specifications, were in consultation with Porsche, Andial, Eibach, Fred Baker Porsche, and, or, Stoddard Porsche, utilizing Porsche and factory approved and acknowledged components and settings, and all components were installed by a leading and knowledgeable Porsche dealer.

At the 4800 mile mark, an Andial free flow stainless steel exhaust was installed by Fred Baker Porsche, the exhaust is "slightly" more raucous than stock, however, the power and mileage increase are obvious with less back pressure.  The dealer recorded in the service record last month that the car has a normal exhaust note which is important to retain with a performance exhaust. Also at that time a performance suspension was installed. The car was lowered 28 mm with Andial, and, Porsche, components, including Eibach progressive rate springs, and shocks, which were placed front and rear, again by Baker. European ride height and front sloping attitude of approximately 25 mm, and were set according to the factory performance specifications. Baker also installed the Porsche factory 1992 911 wheels available on the: Cup, Turbo, RS, and, Carrera 4 Special, and are 17 inch wheels and tires. Back wheels are 17 x 8 with 255/40 ZR 17, Front wheels are 17 x 7 with 205/50 ZR 17. There were no spacers used in installing these wheels, it was done with factory components as the factory installs the 17 inch wheels on this model as if factory option. At this time Baker also installed the factory 1990 911 Turbo exterior mirrors with optional covers. Later a Weltmeister Cambermeister strut tower brace, and, Sony stereo with: Bluetooth, MPS, CD, Phone, capability, were installed. The original Blaupunkt stereo is included with the car. Following this the car was: corner, side to side, and, front to rear weight balanced and aligned by a Porsche certified mechanic at a Porsche race shop, with 200 pounds on the driver's floor, investing 7 hours to get the specifications correct.  A Covercraft cover, and Porsche floor mats and mirror covers, and miscellaneous accessories go with the car.  The previous owner also had a performance chip installed. I do not have installed at this time.  We tried the chip and the idle is wonderfully lumpy with the intake very audible at higher rpm and full throttle with all of the fuel, air, and intake runners opening up and with the power being made.  Very impressive power increase with the chip and the exhaust.  However, we had the dealer remove the chip and replace with the stock unit, as their diagnostics would not fully function with the performance chip in the car.  You can simply plug it in and go though and have the dealer plug in the stock chip if diagnostics are needed, and have them put the performance chip back in the car.

We have all Porsche dealer service records from new to present, including the Porsche Warranty and Maintenance book which has been incrementally updated and validated by the Porsche dealers. New Nitto tires were installed on 8.7.2014 at 85,600 miles. On 7.1.2014 Porsche dealer changed oil and filter with Mobil 1 (used since new) and changed the front differential & trans axle fluids to synthetic, changed front and rear wipers, recharged AC, replaced fuel pump relay, with other miscellaneous service. There was numerous other preventive and required service performed between this and the preceding 60K service, and we also recently put on new brakes and rotors. At the 60,000 mile service we changed the differential and trans axle fluids also, and had the valves adjusted, etc. At some point the Porsche dealer replaced the clutch and pressure plate.

We also have the correspondence with the principals of Andial, and correspondence with Baker and Stoddard Porsche relating to this specific car and special factory specifications for alignment and tuning with this suspension. Porsche, Andial, and, Stoddard, gave input as to the suspension settings when the car was weight balanced and aligned to ensure it was done correctly. When car was last corner balanced, we recorded those settings in the records, and the alignment specifications are included.  To align, just furnish specifications to your dealer, and with any corner balanced car, tell them to not change the spring perches, which of course will change the weight bias and balance of the car. Simply align to the specifications and leave the spring perches where they are, and the car will track and handle beautifully with no, out of balance, bump steer, etc.

We have the original Porsche leather binder folder for the Porsche Owners Manual and Warranty and Maintenance book, up to date and validated by Porsche, and the leather note pad. We also have the Porshe published Technical Specifications book and: Andial, Baker Porsche, and, Stoddard Porsche, technical correspondence and service records. Includes: Andial, Porsche, Eibach, catalogs, price lists, literature, and 2 different new old stock issues of Excellence where the 1990 911 964 C4 was featured. A special order European front license plate goes with the car. Please notice in the photographs that in addition to the factory books and records, each blue folder contains one company's receipts or records.

As previously mentioned, I purchased this vehicle from a collector in October of 1995, with 10,750 miles and the car has been serviced by the Porsche dealer since that time.  So, I have been the owner driver of this car for 65,000 miles and 20 years. The person I purchased the car from was the second owner and had the modifications done, as mentioned, by Fred Baker Porsche with consultation by Andial and Stoddard here in the U.S. I understand the second owner purchased the car from another collector when the car had 2000 miles.  Just before I purchased the car it was on display as an eyes only technical class car by Stoddard Porsche.

I have lightly used the car with approximately 3000 miles per year. I attended several Porshce Club driver's schools with the car but the car was never tracked. Car has been garaged 24/365 in our climate controlled shop since I have owned the car. The car was not driven in the snow. There have been no accidents with the car and no cracks or tears to the interior.  The car smells of aromatic leather and was NEVER smoked in. No food or beverage spills, light wear to carpet in area of pedals, but less than average. There is zero curb rash on the wheels and they have locking lug nuts. Everything else is, to my eye, close to perfect. The glass appears perfect or close to perfect. There is no sun fading to the exterior or interior. There are some small paint chips in the hood, which we will photograph and point out and one very, very, small mark in the left rear fender where I opened my wife's Volvo door too far.  This is less than 1/16 th of an inch in size and we will point this out in the photographs as well. Last year the Porsche dealer replaced the windshield washer nozzles as they were sputtering.  They erred and put a superficial 1 inch scratch in the paint next to the nozzle. They coated with clear and I have included a photo of that area.  It is hard to notice though.  I have used and enjoyed the car but I took care to minimize wear. When I would get in the car I would reach in and support my weight with my right hand on the emergency brake and lift myself over and into the seat so as to not slide across the sport seats.  The car is not perfect but we tried to protect it the best we could.

All work was done by the leading Porsche dealers. Service on the car has been extensive, and we will not go into more detail here, but we have performed preventive maintenance on time or early, and at more frequent intervals for oil and fluid changes. See photographs for files of records, owners manuals, correspondence, catalogs, magazines, etc.

Car is very comfortable on long drives but corners flat, great turn in, and neutral at the limit. The upgraded suspension and wheels greatly improves the handling of this car compared with a stock model. And it looks very similar to the 1990 911 Turbo with the wheels and mirrors, but with just a little lower stance.

We have used the word "provenance" in the context that: Porsche, Andial, Stoddard Porsche, and, Fred Baker Porsche, were consulted regarding the modifications to this car, and specifically the suspension alignment and performance specifications and choice of modifications, and are thought to be among the most authoritative sources of: information, parts, and, technology, available. The car was modified correctly according to factory and expert input.  And that the car was in a private collection and on display at one of the most prestigious Porsche dealers in the U.S., before we bought the car.

I am selling the car as I am reluctantly liquidating some cherished assets and downsizing.

Disclaimer: I believe the information within this listing to be correct according to the car's records and my conversations with former owners, dealers, and various factory representatives. I have also consulted the service and other records as a source, however, some of what is contained in this description is from memory and may or may not be accurate.

Remembering Porsche's illustrious Le Mans history

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

Not only does this weekend mark the running of the 82nd 24 Hours of Le Mans, it will also see the return of one of the race's most venerable brands to the top tiers of endurance racing. Porsche will campaign its first top-flight car since the 1998 911 GT1-98, the 919 Hybrid, at this weekend's race, in the hopes of knocking off its corporate rival, the dominant Audi team.
To understand just what a win for the 919 would mean, though, you need to look back on the intrinsic connection between the Circuit de la Sarthe and Porsche. It's a history that spans decades, dating back to the team's first win in 1970.
XCar has a great video on that history. At 25 minutes, it's a bit on the long side. Then again it is the Friday before Le Mans. Take a look below for the video.

2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

Porsche's Performance Plug-in Preamble
By the end of this year, Porsche will be producing as many plug-in vehicles (two) as mainstream automakers such as Toyota, Chevrolet and Honda. Before the 2015 918 Spyder hybrid supercar goes on sale in the US, though, it will be warming its customers up to the idea of a plug-in model with the 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid. A step up from the previous Panamera S Hybrid, the new plug-in Panamera adds a more powerful and advanced electric drive system that pledges to deliver the performance expected of a Porsche with the added benefit of improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
Going on sale in November, the Panamera S E-Hybrid is aimed at customers also considering the upcoming plug-in version Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but the car's dimensions and performance could make it a competitor for Tesla Model S customers. We headed to Germany at Porsche's invitation to see how well it performs, as well as check out the full range of newly refreshed Panamera models, which now numbers nine offerings - although we're still waiting for a production version of the gorgeous Sport Turismo wagon concept.

2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed statue unveiled

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

Each year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a single marque is celebrated with a large and ornate "Central Feature" sculpture, with recent automakers including Audi in 2009, Alfa Romeo in 2010, Jaguar in 2011 and Lotus last year. This year, Porsche gets the honor, and it is using the opportunity to commemorate 50 years of the 911.
The sculpture features three generations of the 911 towering over the Goodwood House. The most recent 991 911 has the lowest position, with an original 1963 car second highest and a 1973 2.7 RS at the top of the pile. Be sure to check out the sculpture for yourself in the gallery of images above.
