Front tires are in good condition, The rear tires will need replacing soon. Front seats and arm rests are worn and torn is areas due to regular use. Vanity mirrors covers have broken off of the sun visors. The wood trim has cracked also from regular use, the dash, carpet, ceiling have signs of regular use. Electronics are all functional however the radio has been removed. The clutch was replaced less than 500 miles ago. Alternator, Fuel and water pump have less than 2000 miles. The engine has no compression on cylinders two and three. A leak down test revealed the leak is not on the top side."

I purchased this vehicle in Minnesota in March of 2005.  It had 34K miles on it.  It has not missed a regular service.  All repairs were completed by reputable mechanics.  In other words it wasn't taken to a Porsche dealership for repairs. At approximately 95K the original engine was replaced with a 2001 engine.  The newer engine had 35K miles on it when it was installed.  The new engine install was confirmed good two separate shops. Long distance trips were the primary use for this vehicle. In 2012 the vehicle was hail damaged at the Dallas airport. I purchased used body panels to replace those that were damaged (let me know if you are interested in them). In 2013 the 2001 engine without warning developed a loud ticking noise that was diagnosed as no compression on two cylinders.  In less than 2000 miles before the engine failure the clutch, water pump, fuel pump and alternator have been replaced.  Shocks and brakes are relatively new.

This vehicle is being sold as is with no warranties expressed or implied. Winner of the auction will be supplied a bill of sale and the signed Florida title. I will assist in organizing the shipment at the buyers expense.  Deposit of US $500.00 within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment is required within 7 days of auction close.

Malaise Era All-Stars

Fri, 17 May 2013

A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Porsche wants you to 3D print your own Cayman

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Have you got access to a 3D printer? Well lucky you, because as we're rapidly learning, the possibilities are virtually endless. And if your tastes lean towards the automotive (as we'd assume they do if you're reading this page), we've got good news.
Porsche has just released 3D printing data for the Cayman S so you can three-dimensionally print out your own and customize to your heart's content. Now Porsche hasn't specified just to what scale the data will allow you to print your Cayman, but we have a feeling that'd mostly be limited by the size of the printer at your disposal. Check it out in the video below and follow the link to the Porsche site to download the file.
