2016 PORSCHE Carrera 4 GTS. It has never been tracked, has never been driven in the rain, and has never even been parked outside overnight. Has only been driven very occasionally, very carefully, and only under ideal conditions. It has a clear bra protective wrap on the entire front end, including the mirrors, doors, and even the plastic panels fore and aft of the glass sunroof. It also has the latest 3M self healing protective wrap on the windshield, which filters out all the harmful UV Rays without using any dark colored tinting which reduces visibility and would tend to attract the attention of the police. I have also just had the oil changed, as PORSCHE recommends doing so after one year, even if the breakin miles have not yet been completed.

The exterior of the car is PORSCHE Agate Grey, and the interior is black leather with guards red seat belts. It
has the 14-way adjustable seats which, in my view, are the most comfortable offered. The front seats are also both
heated and ventilated. Which means the cool air from the air conditioning can be made to blow through the
perforations in the leather, directly onto your back on a hot summers day.

Like most GTS's, it also has black center locking high performance spoked wheels. And even more importantly, is
powered by the last of the 3.8 liter naturally aspirated flat six engines with the extra horse power kit. The
extra horsepower kit adds another 30 horses, and would have cost an extra 17k if ordered separately on a standard
911 Carrera S.

As a side note, the new GTS's now come with a 3.0 liter turbo charged engine. This 2016 then, was the very last of
the heavy horsepower naturally aspirated 3.8 liter GTS packages you could have ordered. So, if you always wanted
one but failed to get your order in before they quit making them, this is your best chance. It is absolutely brand
new and is tons of fun to drive. I've never driven a more throttle responsive car in my life.

Preparing for Le Mans 2014 Porsche remembers 1971 and the 917 [w/video]

Sun, 07 Apr 2013

Porsche has given us another look back at its successes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This time it's 1971, the year that its 917 set records that haven't all been eclipsed. It's 45-kilogram magnesium tube frame was the lightest, Jackie Oliver set the fastest in-race lap with a time that still stands, and winning drivers Helmut Marko - the same Helmut Marko currently with Infiniti Red Bull Racing - and Gilles Lethem did so many laps that their distance wasn't exceeded until the Audi R15 TDI did it in 2010.
1971 was also the year of the "Pink Pig." With bodywork created by a French aerodynamics firm, the wider, rounder 917 earned the porcine moniker so Porsche painted it pink and labeled it with the cuts you'd get from a pig. Sponsor Martini was so miffed they demanded all Martini branding be removed. No one can remove the thousands of photographs taken of the car ever since. Enjoy that and more in the video below.

Porsche would have entered F1 if Audi had blocked its Le Mans program

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

Go back a few years and you may have heard rumors of Porsche heading into Formula One. That never came to pass - or at least, it hasn't yet - but that doesn't mean that it wasn't close to happening. That's how committed to returning to top-level motorsport competition Porsche has become recently.
Autosport reports that just as Porsche was merging fully into the Volkswagen Group, Zuffenhausen was weighing its options for a factory racing program. Le Mans was its favorite, which makes sense, as it remains far and away the most successful constructor in the history of the famous endurance race. But the strategists at Porsche were worried that its new corporate overlords at Volkswagen wouldn't support two LMP1 programs and would favor Audi, which has positively dominated the modern era of endurance racing, coming second only to Porsche in the number of Le Mans victories it has scored to date.
Porsche's Plan B was reportedly to head into Formula One, although it isn't clear if the German automaker was intent on starting its own team, buying an existing one or merely providing engines to other teams. Porsche fielded its own cars in F1 in the late 1950s and early 60s, and returned as an engine supplier with TAG to power McLaren in the 1980s, powering Niki Lauda and Alain Prost to the World Championship in 1984 and 1985.

Porsche-Piech buy 10% stake in VW's holding company

Tue, 18 Jun 2013

In August, 2009, as the scuttled merger of Porsche and Volkswagen had gone bad and Porsche was backed up against the ropes, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (PAHSE) relinquished a ten-percent stake in itself to Qatar Holdings as well as options it held on 17 percent of VW shares. The sale meant that, for the first time since the founding of the company 61 years before, an entity outside the Porsche and Piech families had a say in the running of PAHSE.
Buying that ten-percent stake back returns full ownership to the two families, the holding company's sole possession being ownership of 50.7 percent of VW's common shares. The price paid wasn't disclosed, but at market rates the purchase would be worth close to $1.25 billion. Qatar intends to hold onto the 17-percent stake it has in Volkswagen.
