This black plate CA car was shipped to VA about 7 years ago.  I bought It from a friend who had no time to work on it.  The floor was rusted but this was all the rust that was on the car other than some very minor surface rust up front.  A new factory correct floor was welded in.  This car is 100% solid!  The left fender has a darker shade of grey (must have had a fender/bender).  During shipment from CA the roof on the pass side behind the windshield suffered a small pingpong ball dent as it must have hit the transporter.  This has been fixed but the paint is darker than the original.  There are a few nicks in the paint and just a couple minor dings (very small) but the body is in very good shape. I believe the mileage to be original but don't have proof.  The car runs and drives well.  The 5 speed tranny shifts well.  The webers were rebuilt, brake calipers rebuilt, new brake hoses, new carpet, new door beltlines and window frame  seals including vent windows, valves adjusted, engine tuned up etc.  The clutch is likely the original but it doesn't slip so I have not replaced it.  This car is a beautiful driver that needs just a little more TLC or could be restored to showroom condition without much cost. The hazard blinkers stopped working (I saw them die as they were on) and I am pretty sure it is the flasher unit.  Also the horn button does not make contact with ground, other wise the horn system works.  I did not want to risk breaking the horn button getting it off, its stubborn.  The radio delete plate can easily be unbolted to install your radio.  Correct spare included (not shown).  I have run out of time to completely finish the light resto I was doing on this car.   My son starts college in a couple weeks and we could use the money.  I hate to sell it!

Porsche releases new images of LMP1 racecar

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Porsche has released another batch of images of its LMP1 competitor preparing for its debut season in 2014. This isn't the first we've seen of the new car, as June saw four images of the new racer undergoing testing. Where those images looked merely like someone taking pics during the test, the 11 new images seen above have all the hallmarks of highly polished PR shots.
That aside, the camo-covered cars still provide another look at what the new LMP1 car will look like when it arrives next season. The taillights follow the example set by Audi, by vertically mounting ultra-thin LEDs on the tips of the rear wing, while the LED headlights sport the four-prong look that Porsche has been pushing of late. Besides those two items, its difficult to make out many details due to the amount of camo.
Porsche's LMP1 effort will be focused on the FIA World Endurance Championship, which will see the revered brand return to the top flights of the 24 Hours Of Le Mans with F1 ace Mark Webber behind the wheel. As we've mentioned before, the German brand has set up a dedicated microsite that will cover its newest racer's progress.

Porsche Macan to get four-cylinder engines

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Porsche hasn't offered a four-cylinder engine since the 968 went out of production in 1995 - the better part of two decades ago. There'd been talk of a four-pot Boxster or an even smaller model to slot in below it, but while the latest intel indicates that Porsche is moving ahead with its four-cylinder plans, it's a different kind of vehicle that will get it first.
That, of course, would be the new Macan. Just revealed a few weeks ago at the LA Auto Show, the Macan crossover is being launched with a pair of twin-turbocharged V6 engines (a 3.0 with 340 horsepower and a 3.6 with 400 hp) and a six-cylinder turbodiesel with 258 hp. But smaller engines, according to emerging reports from Autocar and Auto Express, are on their way.
Word has it that Porsche is preparing a 2.0-liter turbo four with 280 horsepower and a diesel with the same displacement and cylinder count, engines that will power new entry-level Macan models that will slot in beneath the existing Macan S, Macan S Diesel and Macan Turbo. While the diesel is tipped to be ported over from the Volkswagen parts bin, the four-cylinder gasoline engine is said to be under development by Porsche itself, which could mean it will have a boxer layout.

The mid-engine Porsche backstory

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

As an automaker's identity evolves over years, its signature becomes defined by any number of factors - heritage (Mercedes-Benz), image (Lamborghini), or market share (Toyota). In the case of Porsche, it was an engineering quirk that forged the German company's most enduring character trait.
Porsche would not have survived - let alone, thrived - in today's saturated landscape had it not been for the 911, and that slope-tailed sports car wouldn't have sprung to life without its predecessor, the 356. While phenomenal success of those rear-engine icons built the company, forays into the mid-engine configuration have played a significant part in establishing the brand's identity.
