1969 Porsche 912 Factory A/c No Reserve on 2040-cars

This is a 1969 Porsche 912 that I rescued after sitting in a garage for 25 years.
It is a perfect winter restoration project. The odometer reading is 37279, but it has not worked since I owned it. True mileage is unknown. The speedometer and tachometer, low fuel and warning lights, dash lights, turn signals DO work. The fuel gauge, clock, and horn DON'T work. The wipers DON'T work, but I have motor and drag arms from a 1972, 911 that I will include in this sale. New parts: Sach's clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, fork guides and bushing. Shift rod coupler bushings Changed oil in transmission. Points, plugs, and condenser, distributor cap and button. Rebuilt fuel pump with new parts. Installed a refurbished gas tank from a Porsche dealer. Some new brake lines. Four new tires mounted on original Fuch rims from a 1972 Porsche 911. I have done no mechanical work to the motor myself, but at some point someone has put dual Weber carbs on it. I patched some holes in the passenger side floor pan with sheet metal and fiberglass just to strengthen it. This car came stock with factory air conditioning. It has been disconnected. When getting off the interstate, and sometimes in town, it will backfire. Porsche mechanic believes the carburetors need attention Sometimes smokes in stop-n-go traffic. Has some oil leaks. Body: Has some rust bubbles and chips in the paint, but there are no large holes. Body is straight with no dents. Has amateur paint job. Interior: No work has been done to the interior. There is a split in the drivers seat that is covered in duct tape (see pic). Passenger and rear seats are in good shape. Has Porsche floor mats. Average wear for a 44 year old car. The pictures make the car look cleaner than it actually is. This car is 44 years old, so don't expect perfection!! The wear doesn't show clearly in the pics. I cannot possibly list every imperfection about this car. Please contact me with any questions. I believe it is an excellent car for a restoration project. This is not a car to buy for your16 year old son who thinks he's cool. Car runs and shifts well. I often drive it to work, 40 miles one-way, on the interstate with no problems. Porsche 911 RSR in bizarre, terrifying rally crash
Sun, 22 Sep 2013As far as rally crashes go, this one is pretty terrifying. At this month's Hellendoorn Rally, Harry Kleinjan failed to negotiate a turn and drove his Porsche 911 RSR straight into a Jersey barrier, flipping the car into the river.
While it's unclear what caused the accident, German Car Scene notes, "We can see his brakes locking up ahead of the impact, which also ripped both driver's side wheels off, so it may be a case of ill-judged late braking, locking brakes or a jammed throttle." Us? We're betting it might have been bad pace notes. Fortunately for Harry and his co-driver, all indications are that no one was hurt. Porsche Australia price cuts in excess of $36,000 irks customers
Tue, 04 Jun 2013Have you ever gone to the store, only to become irked after learning that the new [*insert widget here*] that you bought just last week has gone through a price drop? If you're particularly thrifty, even if it's only a couple of bucks, you probably brought in your receipt to see if the store would issue you a credit for the difference. Now, imagine that the widget in question isn't a minor purchase, it's a Porsche - and the price drop isn't just a few bucks - it's thousands.
That's the unhappy scenario that recently faced a number of Australian luxury car buyers and the uncomfortable conversation awaiting the German automaker. According to GoAuto, Porsche Australia recently whacked up to $36,000 off the price of its models in order to jumpstart sales Down Under - the Panamera range itself saw cuts between $5,500 and more than $36,000. The aggressive price cut was a strategy designed to drive sales of more than 3,000 cars locally, a yearly goal originally set for 2018, but now hoped for as early as 2016.
Australia is known for its comparatively high car prices, so the dramatic price cuts were undoubtedly welcome news to potential Porsche shoppers. However, around 50 existing customers were understandably agitated by the reductions because they purchased their cars just before the adjustments took effect. Not only did they stand to lose out on the deals, they also had good reason to fear that their new cars' residual values would take a beating.
Porsche rules out Macan, 911 hybrids
Fri, 24 Oct 2014Believe it or not, between the 918 Spyder, the Cayenne and the Panamera, Porsche offers more plug-in hybrid models than any other brand. Yes, Porsche. But don't expect that trend to continue. At least, not in the immediate future.
According to Top Gear, the E-Hybrid powertrain in the Cayenne and Panamera is too big to fit into the smaller Macan. A future hybrid system could be small enough to fit, but with the current technology still fresh, that'd still be some ways down the twisting road.
It stands to reason, then, that if the system wouldn't fit in the Macan, it wouldn't fit in the Boxster or Cayman, either. But what of the 911? Surely Porsche would like to stick it to BMW and its new i8, and proved it could do a hybrid 911 when it rolled the GT3 R Hybrid (pictured) out onto the race track over four years ago. But Zuffenhausen is reportedly in no rush to put that idea into production - not for the current 911 and not for the next one, either.
