 1969 Porsche 912 for sale.

All original. All records from new, including original bill of sale. One key. This 912 was driven in Washington State and California before coming to PA in the 70's. It was driven until 1982 and has been sitting in a garage in Bucks County since. You will be the 3rd owner of this adorable, air cooled sports car. The title is free and clear. This was the 400th car built by Porsche in 1969 (per Dr. B Johnson in his book "The 911 & 912 Porsche. A Restorers Guide to Authenticity"). All numbers matching. The car has only 50,281 original miles (documented with all original receipts). This 912 is a 5 speed manual coupe. The VIN is 129020491.

Awesome original interior. Needs some minor work- new headliner, new springs in driver's seat, door panels need gluing. Backseats are minty. Floorboards are in great condition and are NOT rusted through. The shift linkage is in excellent condition (not loose) and is not rusted.

The exterior is what makes this a project. This is an excellent candidate for a restoration. The car needs new rocker panels, door sills, a suspension pan and the front bar, as a minimum. The body panels are straight and mostly rust-free, with the exception of a few quarter sized dots of rust here and there (passenger front panel, for example). It could use a paint job, too, if you are so inclined (though I like the patina myself). The hubcaps and wheels are in very good condition with just a little surface rust. This car needs new tires. The original spare is included. The gas tank holds gas- it does not leak and is not rusted. All glass is minty- no cracks or chips. All gaskets are very good.

We have not checked the condition of the brakes at this time. The e-brake is functioning. The car turns and rolls (the wheels are not seized).

We have owned this car just a few weeks and gently worked on it. We installed a new battery, new spark plugs, new rotor, new distributor cap, new coil, new fuel filter, cleaned the carbs and got it running. We recommend draining the gas tank (we ran off an auxiliary tank) and rebuilding the carbs.

This is a beautiful Porsche. We're Porsche nuts and we're smitten with this 912 and wish we had the time to restore her ourselves. Take advantage of our busy schedules and add her to your collection! Please email me to set up a visit. Cash or bank check in person, please. Happy to help facilitate transport. Thanks, Kara.

Paul Walker's accident due to 'speed, and speed alone'

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

Following an investigation into the crash that killed Fast and Furious star Paul Walker and driver Roger Rodas, an unnamed law enforcement source told the Associated Press that there were no signs of mechanical failure on the Porsche Carrera GT that was destroyed in the accident.
The report from The Huffington Post claims the officer in question blamed "speed, and speed alone" in the fatal accident. The same report ruled out the presence of debris in the road, which may have caused Rodas to lose control of the V10-powered super car.
Engineers from Porsche are traveling to California to investigate the accident with the help of the Carrera GT's on-board data recorder. Until then, investigators won't speculate on the car's speed at the time of the wreck.

Porsche considering turbo for new GT3 RS [w/poll]

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

Some automakers make one hardcore version of a sports car and are done with it. Or at least they make one at a time. Think Ferrari 458 Speciale, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (or Super Trofeo Stradale or Squadra Corse) or Maserati GranTurismo MC. But not Porsche. It transforms the 911 into the hard-core GT3, the even harder-core GT3 RS, the you've-got-to-be-psychotic GT2 and the do-you-have-a-death-wish GT2 RS. The RS models take things to a further extreme, but what separates GT3 from GT2 models has traditionally been the use of foced induction: GT3s are naturally aspirated, while GT2s go turbo. But that could all be about to change.
According to the rumors making their round of the webosphere, Porsche is considering using a turbocharged engine for the next GT3 RS. The reason is that, as we all know, Porsche has already pushed the 3.8-liter flat-six in the existing GT3 about as far as it can go, and then some. And buyers expect not only a more bare-bones package with the GT3 RS, but also a bit of extra power.
Given that everything seems to be going turbo these days, the move might make some measure of sense, especially if Porsche wants to avoid with the GT3 RS the spontaneous combustion issues it faced with the GT3. But we can't help but wonder why, at that point, it wouldn't just skip the GT3 RS and go straight for the GT2.

Driving the million-mile Porsche 356

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

Maybe you've seen or heard about the Porsche 356 with almost one-million miles (though it doesn't look like it), but Petrolicious finally has produced a video to show us what it's like to drive the 982,000-mile car. Guy Newmark's beautiful, dark-blue 1964 356C looks great in motion - much better than in photos - and serves to remind us not only what meticulous car care can do for old classics, but that old Porsches were built to last.
So how fastidious is Newmark about maintaining it? He takes the car to his mechanic of 40 years every 3,000 miles for an oil change and to fix anything that needs attention.
Newmark says his 356 "is everything you could want," and that he finds errands to do just to go drive it. We would, too. The next-best thing is to watch the inspiring video below of the well-traveled Porsche.
