This is a Porsche you do not want to let slip by and priced for a quick sale. Meticulously maintained and cared for - Excellent condition!

Original mileage just over 70K with known history of the car. No rust with exception of very minor surface inside rear trunk, straight and solid - never in a wreck and no filler throughout the body. The engine was rebuilt about 15K ago with many performance upgrades, including but not limited to, maintained fuel injection (no carbs), 94 MM European pistons and cylinders, Petronix electronic ignition, a mild cam, and a Bursch exhaust. The engine runs perfectly and is powerful.  Respray in factory color Zambezi Green and flat black for Targa top. Upgraded brakes with 911 19MM cylinder. Interior is original -  no cracks in the dash. All gauges, lights and electronics work. New battery relocated to the rear trunk with quick disconnect. Fuel filter and pump relocated to the front trunk consistent with 1975-1976 914s to prevent vapor lock issues. 15-inch Fuchs (with Fuchs full size spare) on Kumho Escta tires (like new).

Front and rear sway bars handles solid on the road - just aligned - no shimmies or pulls. Everything is stock except for performance upgrades as mentioned, audio system, and Momo steering wheel. The color combo is a real head turner and the car is super clean. No oil leaks and this car is a runner - loves to be driven. Always in a heated garaged and never driven in the rain (or snow).  Even comes with the original "Red Key."

The 2.0 L is the most desired model for the 914s and this is a quick car with unbelievable handling. With a little more TLC could be a Concourse D'Elegance winner!

Porsche Cayenne GTS, base models revealed ahead of LA

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Porsche unveiled a slew of refreshed Cayennes just a few months ago, but the base model (right) and high-performance GTS trim (above) were conspicuously absent from that list. There's no more reason to wonder about them, though, because the German brand plans to unveil both at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19.
Sitting below the Turbo in the lineup, the latest GTS still offers plenty of performance. It drops the previous version's naturally aspirated V8 in favor of a tuned version of the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 from the Cayenne S for some added oomph. The tweaks bring power up to 440 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to rocket the model to 62 miles per hour in an estimated 5.2 seconds. The bump also equates to 20 hp and 39 lb-ft more than the current S and more importantly 20 hp and 62 lb-ft more than the previous GTS, according to Porsche.
In addition to the extra muscle, Porsche also decks the GTS out with some added features. It comes with a standard sport exhaust and Porsche Active Suspension Management system with an air suspension lets the chassis sit about three-quarters of an inch lower (20 millimeters). To bring things to a halt, the high-performance models also takes its brakes from the Turbo model.

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.

VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.
