Porsche 930 Turbo 1983 Coupe, I believe that this car was originally delivered to Germany and was imported into the USA in May of 1983. This is an exceptional car in really lovely condition, there is no rust evident anywhere on top or underneath, the panel gaps are really nice and all panels appear to be all original. The paintwork is gleaming and in its correct original color of platinum metallic LM8U.
The interior is original in cork leather throughout with factory fitted sports seats, brown door tops and brown leather dash top. The interior is incredibly nice, the carpets are like new, doors and door panels are excellent, the only wear is on the edge of the drivers upper bolster and also on the lower bolster. The leather is supple throughout, the rear seats appear as new. Headliner has no tears or perforations and the interior smells of leather, obviously a non smoker car.
The motor starts easily, has excellent oil pressure and makes no smoke or unusual noises, it is fitted with a Billy Boat style stainless steel exhaust system, SC cams and an enlarged turbo charger ( Please note that this car will not smog in California)
Transmission works perfectly, no noises or baulking or grinding of gears either up or down the pattern, no dif noise.

The original toolkit is present along with the factory jack, I didn't receive any service books or the owners manual but a quid Carfax confirms the mileage back to 46,000 in 2001, it also documents a major service in 2011 some 6,000 miles ago.

This car is 30 years old and I believe it qualifies for importation into Holland at the lower rate (please confirm this yourself) I can arrange shipping to Europe and anywhere else worldwide from either Oakland or Los Angeles.

I am a car dealer but I have to tell you that this is a car I really want to keep for myself, there are cars we buy to sell and they are just lovely, this is one such car, sadly I am not in a position to keep it right now.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on USA 925 789 9825, do remember that I am 9 hours behind European time!

Here is the VIN, The Ebay system won't accept a European delivered VIN WP0ZZZ93ZCS000283

* The steering wheel is now a correct 1980s four spoke Porsche leather wheel*

Porsche acquires Kyalami race track at auction

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

With more victories under its belt than any other manufacturer, you could say, in a figurative sense at least, that Porsche owns countless numbers of race tracks around the world. But here we're not talking about figuratively owning a track - we're talking about literally buying one. And Porsche has just bought Kyalami.
Kylamai, for those unfamiliar, is a grand prix circuit near Johannesburg in South Africa. Between 1967 and 1985, and again in '92 and '93, it was home to the South African Grand Prix, and has since hosted a variety of local and lower-level international races, but apparently fell on hard times. As a result, the track's owners - listed as Universal Property Professionals - put it up for auction. Bidders had to deposit four million Rand (about $380k) to participate, but after just 50 seconds, the auction was over.
The winning bid was placed - via telephone from the local press launch for the Macan - by Porsche South Africa CEO Toby Venter, who bid a reported 205 million rand (about $19.5 million) to take over the complex. The German automaker's South African division reportedly intends to keep the track open for racing, but could also be expected to use the facility for testing, customer track days and such moving forward.

Ferrari return to Le Mans looking more likely?

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Statements made by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo may indicate that the Italian brand could return to a form of racing it's been absent from for 40 years - prototype racing. That's right, LMP1 could see a factory Ferrari team for the first time since 1973, if a report from ESPN F1 is to be believed.
"We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home," Montezemolo said. "Maybe we should give it some consideration..."
These seemingly idle, off-hand comments might not hold much water, were rumors about Ferrari's return to prototype racing not swirling as recently as August. There's also the fact that the upcoming, 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 being used for Formula One complies with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's own LMP1 regulations, according to ESPN. Finally, Ferrari returning to Le Mans might also explain this video of a camouflaged Ferrari LaFerrari testing a new turbocharged engine, which we showed you a few weeks back. There's a fair chance that what we're actually seeing in that video are the early stages of a new Ferrari prototype testing.

Porsche's Mauer recalls the history of the 918 Spyder, hints about next-gen 911

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

The night before Porsche handed me the keys to its 2015 Macan to drive on both road and track, the company threw together a great dinner for the assembled media in Leipzig. Hosted in Porsche's spaceship-shaped customer delivery center in the eastern German town, I'll admit that I spent the bulk of my night grabbing hors d'oeuvres from passing waiters (they do a nice tuna sashimi), milling around a collection of historic and interesting vehicles on the top floor and gulping down Warsteiner.
In an era of mega car companies, the story of how the 918 came to be was really refreshing.
Before the evening was over, however, Porsche design chief Michael Mauer stopped by my table to exchange pleasantries and thank us all for coming out to drive the Macan. My fellow diners and I passed a pleasant half-hour or more picking the brain of the forthcoming Mauer, and somehow or another, the topic turned to Porsche's newest supercar, the 918 Spyder. In an era of mega car companies (the Volkswagen Group included) and massive development teams, the story of how the 918 came to be is really refreshing.
