1991 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet. Last model year for the 944 and one of 563 total brought into the USA in 1991. Condition: Exceptionally good example of a well maintained and cared for 944. Car originally lived in California and then moved to Arizona. I purchased the car ~ 5 years ago with 95000 miles from the gentleman that owned it in Arizona. Interior is in very good condition with no rips or tears. leather seats are in great condition with no issues. All power options work as they should. Dash has a few minor cracks which is common with the 944. For a car that lived in Arizona the dash is in actually much better condition than expected. Carpet is excellent with no wear spots. All lighting works. There is some minor road rash on the rims that were present when I purchased the car. Rest of the wheel is very bright chrome in great condition. Stone guards (vinyl pieces behind wheels to protect paint have typical cracking. These can be peeled off and replaced with minor effort. Both rear tires are brand new with < 1000 miles and frt tires (225/40 ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sport) have at least 60% tread life remaining. Mechanical: Car is in excellent mechanical condition. The following is a listing of what has been replaced in the last 1000 miles (have documentation): - Two new rear tires 255/35 ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sport (original left rear tire had a cut in the side wall so I replaced both rear tires at the same time. ($750.00 for tire, mounting and high speed balance) - New Ball joints - New tierod ends - New front struts and springs - New rear shocks - New Zimmerman drilled rotors at all four corners - New brake pads - New engine mounts (both sides) - New oil pan gasket - New valve cover gasket - New balancer chain tensioner - Timing belt replaced at 75K miles by previous owner (receipt in documentation) - New A/C expansion valve - New clock lamp (typical 944 problem now fixed) - New directional signal switch Known items: Airbag light stays illuminated. This is due to replacing the directional signal switch. To remove the light it must be re-set with someone that has the original device to do so. I have not yet found a local person that can reset it Minor oil leak. Leak is minor and only appears if he car has sat for long periods. It is evident by a few drops on the exhaust manifold which creates a few puffs of momentary smoke. Does not do it all the time. The oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket replacement were the first attempts to resolve it. I had intended to add the leak dye to the oil and pinpoint it but just ran out of time before putting the car away for this winter. Leak is likely from the oil filter housing gasket. A new gasket kit is less than $50.00 on line A/C is not blowing cold as it should. It was diagnosed with a bad expansion valve which I in turn replaced. A/C was cold but I suspect there is a leak in the system which depletes the coolant. I suspect a schrader valve is leaking. Pluses: Very clean, original well documented car. Garage kept, no winters and thus absolutely no rust. Ex California & Arizona car. No accidents, no body work, original paint that is not perfect but is still very smooth and shiny. Excellent rubber on 18" chrome wheels, Strut tower brace and windscreen are each $500.00 add-ons. Top was replaced @ 10 years before I purchased the car. Strong engine. 50/50 weight distribution and sticky Michelins make this car a blast to drive. Have documentation of car history and original radio

2015 Porsche Macan Turbo

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

The misinformation first started back in May of 2007 - more than six years ago - when word came that Porsche was developing a compact utility vehicle to fill out its product line. Rumors swirled that the German automaker's future "Roxster" would be based on the then-upcoming Audi Q5. By September of 2010, the name had changed to "Cajun," but the vehicle was still expected to be "based heavily on the Audi Q5," said reports in the months that followed. One year later, the first test mules were spotted, the mechanics hidden beneath barely disguised Audi sheetmetal, which did nothing to give the upcoming model its own identity. And even after Porsche announced "Macan" as the vehicle's production name in early 2012, articles stated that it would "arrive on the same chassis as the Audi Q5, though with suspension, brake and engine tweaks suitable to the Porsche range."
It's no wonder that most still consider the all-new Porsche Macan nothing more than a heavily massaged Q5.
To help lift some of the mystery surrounding its latest release, Porsche hosted us in Germany for an in-depth look at its new crossover (while Europeans call it a "sport utility," its car platform allows us to call it a proper CUV). The technology workshop offered us insight to the design and mechanical execution, and it concluded with a short test ride. The trip was both enlightening and educational - and it left us with a whole new perspective on the Macan.

Porsche 911 Carrera 4S named Motor Trend Best Driver's Car [w/video]

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Motor Trend has named the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S its best driver's car for 2013. The annual
competition for the title included some of the best performance cars that have gone on sale in the past year. The new C4S follows the 2012 Best Driver's Car award winner, a two-wheel-drive Carrera S.
Determining the winner of the coveted title isn't easy. Each vehicle is pushed through Motor Trend's normal battery of instrumented tests. Editors then spend time with each car over a 500-mile tour of mixed conditions before a final batch of testing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, with pro racer Randy Pobst at the wheel.

Porsche offering new tire option for Carrera GT

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Let's face it: finding new tires for older cars can be challenging if tire manufacturers have stopped carrying the right sizes (this writer went through Hell to find a set of 205/60-13s). But what about tires for low-volume supercars, which use sizes that often won't fit on high-volume production vehicles? The Porsche Carrera GT isn't that old and tires are still available in the correct sizes, but the German automaker has shown its support of keeping them on the road by working with Michelin to give owners yet another tire option. Enter the Carrera GT-specific Pilot Super Sport.
It's common knowledge that tires are one of the most important pieces of the performance puzzle, and Porsche claims that the PSS tires, sized 265/35ZR-19 front and 335/30ZR-20 with Porsche's "N0" rating, will improve the Carrera GT's handling and stability all the way up to its claimed top speed of 205 miles per hour. That's important for a car with razor-sharp handling characteristics. They'll also net drivers a 10-percent increase in fuel economy on regular roads and up to 20 percent on racetracks, Porsche says.
The PSSs use cutting-edge tire technology to harness the Carrera GT's 610-horsepower. They have a dual-compound tread that's different from the inside of the tire to the outside, which, Porsche says, helps steering precision and increases maximum grip. Aramid fibers, which are lightweight but just as strong as steel, are used in the tire's belt to reduce unsprung weight.
