Attention Sports Car buffs and collectors:  Yes, it only has 20,188 miles!  I am the second-owner.  The first-owner was the wife of my little league baseball coach.  He bought her the car and she only drove it to Dairy Queen for ice cream on nice summer days in Cleveland, Ohio.  Now that I own it, I do the same.  Always garaged, the car had never seen rain or snow.  I keep it in a heated-garage (radiant heat in the concrete floor) and do not take it out unless the roads are dry and the sun is shining.  I took it to a Porsche mechanic when I got it and asked about its condition, the mechanic looked at me dazed and said "it's like a new car"!  It runs like a top! German reliability and quality at its finest.  It is a very affordable toy that will bring you a lot of smiles and satisfaction.  Comes with a genuine Porsche bra that fits the front end and protects it from stone chips.  Also comes with a genuine Porsche form-fitting, quilted, cover which was on it when I saw the car the first time.  It has a cool radar detector that still works perfectly.  I put the new Michelin tires on it.  One fun aspect of the car is, because it is an "automatic", anybody can drive it and enjoy it.  And don't scoff at this automatic, this automatic rocks!  The air conditioning is cold and everything works.  The seats and interior are perfect, and appear as close to new as can be described, which is amazing.  This car is truly pristine.  P.S.  I have all the original books and papers regarding this car, including the original window sticker.

Here is some interesting history on this car.  The Porsche 944 was rated as one of the 10 best cars of 1986 by Car & Driver Magazine. See the link here:  http://www.caranddriver.com/features/1986-10best-cars-1986-porsche-944-page-8

In comparing the 944 Non-Turbo to the Turbo 944, Car & Driver had this to say: Of course, the 944 Turbo is fun, fast, and frightfully expensive. Attacking that list in reverse order, the price just barely clears our $30,000 ceiling, a stretch of your right leg will carry you to 157 mph, and the only activities that are more entertaining than driving this car demand a live partner.

Where does this leave the regular 944 (Non-Turbo)? The truth of the matter is that most of us at Car and Driver prefer it to the Turbo for everything but flat-out, high-speed, get-me-to-the-church-on-time pursuits. The ... 944 (Non-Turbo) has better throttle response and its steering feels sharper on center. Furthermore, the normally-aspirated 944 (Non-Turbo) is about the best sports-car value going. This is more true than ever for 1986, because Porsche has seen fit to give this machine several new suspension components and a new instrument panel (both of which were developed for the Turbo) without raising the price a smidgen. All of which makes one wonder what exactly Porsche has in mind for next year.

Driving the million-mile Porsche 356

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

Maybe you've seen or heard about the Porsche 356 with almost one-million miles (though it doesn't look like it), but Petrolicious finally has produced a video to show us what it's like to drive the 982,000-mile car. Guy Newmark's beautiful, dark-blue 1964 356C looks great in motion - much better than in photos - and serves to remind us not only what meticulous car care can do for old classics, but that old Porsches were built to last.
So how fastidious is Newmark about maintaining it? He takes the car to his mechanic of 40 years every 3,000 miles for an oil change and to fix anything that needs attention.
Newmark says his 356 "is everything you could want," and that he finds errands to do just to go drive it. We would, too. The next-best thing is to watch the inspiring video below of the well-traveled Porsche.

Porsche 911 Targa leaks out ahead of Detroit debut

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

With the doors of Cobo Center opening for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show this morning, Porsche is set to reveal its new 911 Targa in a matter of hours. But before it gets the chance, the first batch of images have already leaked out, courtesy of Chinese car site autohome.com.cn.
As expected, the new Targa appears to ditch the complex sliding glass roof panels that adorned recent versions of the semi-convertible 911 in favor of a more back-to-basics approach. An entirely removable roof panel opens up the sky, backed by a metallic B-pillar hoop in front of a large curved-glass rear window.
We'll have to wait just a little longer for the full scope of images and all the official details, but we're expecting the new Targa to carry most of the same technical specifications as the 991 on which it's based. Watch this space for more.

China may surpass US as Porsche's largest market this year thanks to Cayenne

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

China has already surpassed the United States as the world's largest automotive market, so it's no surprise that one day soon it will be the world's largest Porsche market.
In fact, that day may already be here, as the PRC's Porschephiles outbought their American counterparts in September. Porsche's Chinese dealers sold 4,344 cars last month to America's 3,607. Through all of 2014 so far, though, the US is still the larger market for the German brand.
"The U.S. performed very well this year, after a great year in 2013, but China is growing fast, thanks to the Cayenne which is our best seller there," Porsche's sales and marketing boss, Bernhard Maier, told Automotive News Europe.
