 2001 Porsche Boxster 986  S  tiptronic  being sold as is.

This is a very nice car with substantial performance upgrades  but it does need 4 items to make it mint.

1. broken right front coil spring

2. faulty key ignition switch

3. left front radiator small/slow leak

4. Paint ( could use a re-paint)

I purchased this car for my daughter when she got her license 6 yrs. ago.  Unfortunetly  it lived through the high school yrs. & several yrs. after with a teenager & her friends. It was never abused or wrecked but it was not loved by a non-car person.

It has been sitting for some time unused since she is now in college & does not want it anymore.

I have spent  8-10k on brand new high performance upgrades including the following:

 Bilstein/H&R suspension including complete re-build with H&R over sized sway bars, all bushings ,control arms & links are new, Victor Equipment 18 inch wheels, Stebro exhaust with secondary by pass pipes. Currently it has H&R lowering springs (one snapped). I will include the oem springs.

$2000.00 was recently spent on a brand new roof with heated real glass window!!!!!!!!!. 986 Boxsters came oem with plastic rear windows.

The engine was replaced at 106,000 mile with a brand new Porsche 3.2 liter S motor from Germany at a cost of $12,000. Motor was $9,000, balance was labor rate cost. So the motor has approx. 65,000 miles on the clock.

Interior is in really good shape. Nice leather power seats etc. Includes carbon fiber tip shifter & surround. New Porsche glass wind protector between headrest.

The car is quick & handles like its on rails with the upgraded suspension.

The body is rough shape with lots of scratches, small dings , stone chips & ripples in the front left fender & rear deck lid  as a result of friends sitting on a car made of paper thin aluminum. Girls!!! go figure?

Porsche, Hyundai and GM impress in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, Fiat and Jeep don't

Consumers continue to struggle with the advanced user interfaces and technologies being fitted to new cars, according to the latest J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. Overall, the industry average for problems per 100 vehicles climbed three percent, to 116 issues reported in the first 90 days of ownership.
Vehicles from the General Motors' family were dominant, with Buick, Chevrolet and GMC capturing more individual IQS segment awards than any other manufacturer. Despite its well-publicized issues, six GM vehicles (Buick Encore, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevy Silverado HD, Chevy Suburban, GMC Terrain and GMC Yukon) were given IQS awards for their respective segments.
Hyundai was ranked the best overall mass-market brand, with just 94 issues in every 100 vehicles reported in the first 90 days. Parent Hyundai Motor Company, meanwhile, trailed GM with five vehicles winning their segments, including the Hyundai Accent, Elantra and Genesis, as well as the Kia Cadenza and Sportage.

Updated J.D. Power APEAL study shines on VW Group, Chevy

J.D. Power has just revealed the results of its 2013 APEAL Study, which looks at which brands have the most appealing cars based on sales figures, dealer inventory, brand loyalty, transaction and trade-in prices. The study was revamped for 2013, and places a larger focus on the new tech and infotainment options available to customers. All told, study participants gauged their vehicles on 77 different attributes, delivering a score out of a 1,000 points.
The Volkswagen Group had the greatest success of any corporation, topping the APEAL rankings with the Audi Allroad, Porsche Boxster, Porsche Cayenne, VW GTI and Passat. Chevrolet had the highest number of awards for a single brand, though, with the Avalanche, Sonic and Volt all taking home a prize.
The best brand overall was Porsche, which scored 884 out of a possible 1,000 points. The top Japanese brand was Lexus with a score of 847, while the top American brand was Cadillac, at 841. The best mainstream brand was Ram, which received a very respectable 817. The industry average for this year's study was 795, with 16 brands, all of which were mainstream, falling below the average.

Hyundai, Porsche top J.D. Power APEAL study

Just as they did in the Initial Quality Study, Porsche and Hyundai have taken the premium and non-premium crown, respectively, for the 2014 J.D. Power APEAL study. This is the tenth consecutive year for that Porsche has been rated the best premium make in the APEAL study, which attempts to figure out how pleased owners are with their purchases. For 2014, it asked 86,000 owners of MY2014 cars to rate their vehicles in 77 different categories 90 days after their initial purchase. The resulting figures were plugged in deliver the APEAL score, which is rated on a 1,000-point scale.
The industry average sits at 794 points for 2014, although that's a one-percent decline over last year's rating. In this year's study, premium brands averaged 840 out of 1,000, while non-premium makes average 785. For their part, Porsche netted an impressive 882 points, while Hyundai earned an 804. Interestingly, only four non-premium brands (Hyundai, Ram, Volkswagen and Mini) finished above the industry average for 2014.
It's also interesting to see the clear delineation between premium and non-premium brands, with an eight-point gap between the non-premium champ, Hyundai, and the lowest-rated premium brand, Volvo.
