The Boxster 2.7-liter has flat six-cylinder increased its horsepower rating from 240 moved to 260 hp. The engine has been modified and installed new racing piston " JE pistons" .It is big bore 87mm  and that increased engine power. As a result, this car increased their top speeds -- 166mph miles per hour for the Boxster .Corresponding 0-60 times is 5.5 sekonds.

Also it has the addition of head airbags that complement the current side airbag system. The head airbags deploy from door window side rails. In addition, Porsche tweaked the brakes for improved performance and added its stability control system to the standard equipment list. The captivating 2006 Porsche Boxster remains a purpose-built sports car that's designed to go fast and provide optimum feedback while demanding the driver's undivided attention. It rewards skilled pilots with an unparalleled thrill ride and an unrivaled exhaust note.

This midengine, two-seat Porsche convertible comes as either the Boxster or the Boxster S. The standard equipment list on both models includes such features as leather-trimmed seats with power recline; a leather-covered steering wheel, gearshift knob, armrests and handbrake handle; a seven-speaker CD stereo; and a power top. Optional equipment includes items like full leather power seating, automatic climate control, a Bose digital sound system, bi-HID headlights, a three-piece wind deflector, heated seats. Porsche has active suspension management system is also optional on both models, and ordering it specifies a 10mm lower ride height. The  Boxster comes with 245/265/40/R18-inch wheels.

The Porsche Boxster 2.7 use a horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine. In the standard Porsche Boxster it is displaces 2.7 liters and produces 240 horsepower. The big bore 87mm Engine has  260 hp. A five-speed manual transmission is fitted to the Boxster. Porsche claims that the standard Boxster will sprint to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, while this Boxster accomplishes the same feat in just 5.5 ticks of the watch.

Side airbags, traction control and four-wheel antilock disc brakes are standard on all Boxsters. Electronic stability control, dubbed PSM, is also standard, and a tire-pressure monitoring system is optional. The side airbag system includes head-protecting airbags that deploy from the door window sills.

The Boxster's seats are firm and supportive, and substantial bolstering holds occupants in place on tight turns. Like the Boxster's cabin is good-looking but a little confusing at first glance. The gauge cluster is well laid out, but the climate and radio controls can be hard to decipher. Materials quality has been improved over the years, so at least now you feel like you're in a high-dollar sports car. With two cargo areas (one up front and one in back), there is ample cargo space available.

As a commuter vehicle, the Boxster's tight steering, brakes and clutch can make it a chore around town. Buy a BMW Z4 or Mercedes SLK if your primary driving environment resembles the mega-mall parking lot. Rather, the 2006 Porsche Boxster shines as a weekend-getaway vehicle, providing comfort and space for two adults and their luggage with driving characteristics that are thoroughly enjoyable at speed.

Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.

Porsche goes karting in its Cayman GTS

Sun, 03 Aug 2014

Think Mini is the king of Go-Kart Handling[TM]? Well, you might be mistaken, as Porsche proves here it's fully capable of delivering a driving experience that'd fit in quite nicely on a go-kart track.
Using a new and very red Cayman GTS, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer invades a kart track in northern Italy and sets the mid-engined sports car loose to slip, slide and zip its way around the circuit. As far as videos for Sunday evening go, this one ticks all the boxes.
Take a look.

Chris Harris condemns demonization of Porsche Carrera GT in wake of Walker death

Fri, 06 Dec 2013

When something bad happens, it's easy to resort to scapegoating. At least for some of us, that seems to be exactly what has happened following the tragic death of actor Paul Walker and racer Roger Rodas, who were killed on November 30 in a Porsche Carrera GT. Even though officials have not yet determined the cause of the crash, that isn't stopping many theories from being put for - theories that include blaming the Porsche supercar. Rather predictably, not only is the CGT's difficult nature getting examined, but indeed, the nature of all high-performance cars is being put under the public's microscope, with some wondering what the need for all the power is.
A Google search of "Porsche Carrera GT" will find no shortage of articles about the razor-sharp handling and outright speed of the CGT. Pistonheads' Chris Harris has a different, insightful take on both the Carrera GT and the nature of all fast cars. He reflects on the matter, ironically, en route to drive the successor to the car that killed Walker and Rodas, the 900-horsepower 918 Spyder hybrid supercar.
We think it's well worth a read, as it makes a number of good points about modern high-performance automobiles and the way they're used. Click over and take a look.
