Up for sale is my Cayman S in immaculate condition.  This car has been cared for and maintained by Porsche of San Diego, and was purchased as a certified pre-owned car.  It comes in the special order Midnight Blue Metallic and Sand Beige color combo that I get compliments on every time I take the car out.

To differentiate this Cayman S I had the Porsche 997 GT3RS 4.0 center stripe placed on the car using a special 3M vinyl, it looks stunning, google that model and you can see what I'm talking about.  If you don't like it, this can be simply removed.

This car is in excellent mechanical condition, just having been serviced, and inspected by Porsche of San Diego two weeks ago.  I also had them pull all of the rev limiter events from the diagnostic computer onboard the car while it was in the shop, and found that it only has stage 1 and 2 events, which means that it was babied, and never held at redline.

The clutch and transmission are precise and smooth, and the engine sounds amazing.  It has a special order exhaust tip from the factory that makes the car look great from behind.  It also has new tires front and rear (not pictured), and the brakes have over 5mm of pad on all four corners, with smooth rotors.  This car should be maintenance free for at least two years.

The car is kept garaged with a cover that is included with the sale.

Here is a history of recent service:

4/27/11: New Water Pump
2/15/13: Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil Change, replaced cabin filter, 2 year brake system fluid flush, tire pressure monitoring system replaced, drive belt replaced.
3/10/13: New Battery
4/1/13:   Replaced Gas Cap

The paint is in great shape, but of course with any used car it's not perfect.  The front bumper has minor rock chips dulling the finish slightly and the front license plate bracket included left four small holes.
I will include a new bottle of paint touch-up and clear coat.

LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and Agera R take to Assen

Tue, 10 Jun 2014

It's the show-down (sort of) we've all been waiting for. The battle of the hybrid hypercars from the performance powerhouses of Europe: Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. No one publication has managed to get their hands on all three just yet, but this video has - and with a Koenigsegg Agera R thrown in for good measure.
The video was shot by our (unrelated) Dutch compatriots at Autoblog.nl at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. The track has played host to Champ Cars and all manner of racing bikes, but this could be the ultimate grid of actual production machinery that's ever lined up behind its start/finish line. Shame the weather was rainy and this unsurpassed array of supercars weren't really racing - more showing off for the crowds. But what a show it was. Scope out the footage in the video below.

DP Motorsport tries to turn a vintage Porsche 911 into a sleeper

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Once you get past the fact that it's hard to call a car a sleeper when it has race-product stickers on its quarter panel, and the script across the back panel reads "Porsche 911 3.2 Sleeper," it's fun to imagine what this car can do. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Germany's DP Motorsport took a model from 1986, stripped it of everything - including the paint and undercoating - then replaced everything with lightweight and race-ready parts.
In went race cams and ported cylinder heads, a lightweight flywheel, an RSR titanium racing exhaust, 935-style lollipop seats and RSR carpeting, a lightweight battery, perforated and galvanized hinges and brackets, hardened perspex windows. The 3.2-liter engine puts out 270 horsepower - 70 hp above the stock 911 on sale here in 1986 - and 226 pound-feet of torque through a limited slip differential to staggered wheels. The exterior color is metallic rock-green lacquer.
If you want one, $120,00 is where the part starts, but DP Motorsport says it offers the parts individually if you don't need your vintage Porsche to sleep this hard. On a side note, for a chucklesome journey back in time, check out this review of the 1986 911 that gets things going with this line: "First off, the Porsche 911 is very expensive - how does about 40 thou grab you?" Back on topic, there's a press release below that tells the rest of the story of the 3.2 Sleeper.

Porsche finally moving ahead with flat four engine

Sun, 23 Mar 2014

When Porsche released the first Boxster in 1996 and the first Cayman in 2005, the idea was to create an entry-level model for the German automaker's sports car range. The latest iterations of both closely related models, however, have begun to encroach dangerously on the 911's territory, particularly in their newest GTS specifications. That could be about to change, however, with the introduction of a four-cylinder engine for the compact mid-engined coupe and roadster.
According to Automotive News, Porsche is finally preparing to launch a new boxer four engine in the Boxster and Cayman, following years of speculation. The engine would be based on the same architecture as the company's famous flat six, but with two fewer cylinders to cut weight. Don't expect it to cut much in the way of performance, however: Porsche chief Matthias Muller indicates that the new engine could produce as much as 395 horsepower - significantly more than even the 340hp flat six in the Cayman GTS, suggesting that the engine could even find its way into the 911 as well.
It's no more clear which markets would get the four-cylinder engine, either. But wherever it is offered and in whichever form, it wouldn't be the first time we'd see a Porsche with a four-pot engine. Not by a long shot. Both the classic 912 and 356 were powered by boxer fours, as was the 914 - not to mention the 718 pictured above and the iconic 550 Spyder. The front-engined 924, 944 and 968 packed inline-four engines, but the last of those were discontinued in the 1990s. The prospect of a four-cylinder Boxster/Cayman has been rumored for many years now, most recently joined by the possibility of a four-pot Macan as well.
