1972 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Chassis No. SRA13332. Sold new in 1972 for $25,215.00. Caribbean Blue 950/0683, Double White fine lines, Dark Blue VM-3209 Conolley Leather, Dark Blue Carpets and Grey wool broadcloth headlining. Original chassis/factory records, service and repair records for the last decade of our ownership. Personalized license plates "AVO" will not go with the car (It's portuguese for grandparent). My father bought the Rolls 12 years ago and he and I rebuilt or replaced all hydraulic components, rebuilt carbs, replaced fuel pump, replaced tires, replaced brakes (including all 23 flexible hoses). I have a large history file of receipts totaling thousands of dollars to bring the car to reliable daily driver status and a pleasurable touring automobile. 102,000 miles currently, it had 73 ,000 miles when he purchased it in 2001.

This is not a show car but, a comfortable and competent daily driver and touring car. Everything works including the cruise control and clock. The paint is entirely original and does show wear consistent with 41 years of use. My dad passed away in 2011 and I'm ready to sell now to invest in a earlier model Rolls Royce. There is one small rust area the size of a silver dollar at the base of the right fender just to the rear of the front wheel arch (Pictured), the small replacement panel is available for aprox $125.00.  The remainder of the underbody is in great shape.  The paint looks great as a 10footer but, should be redone if you want to take the car to the next level.    I'm not mutch of a photographer but, have posted some initial photos taken with my daughters camera. If seriously interested, I can have better photos taken of any angle you'd like and send them to you.  No warranty, sold as and where is.

Rolls-Royce debuts Phantom Coupe Aviator Collection at Pebble Beach

Fri, 17 Aug 2012

As if its cars aren't already exclusive enough on their own merit, Rolls-Royce is debuting an ultra-limited production version of the Phantom Coupe at Pebble Beach today. With only 35 cars expected to be built, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe Aviator Collection celebrates Charles Stewart Rolls - Rolls-Royce co-founder - who had a passion for flying and was only the second man in Britain to have a pilot's license before his death in 1910.
Unique elements of the Phantom Coupe Aviator Collection include the Aviator Grey exterior hue accented with a matte finish on the grille, hood and window frame. Setting the aeronautical theme of the car, the interior is fitted with exclusive features like the matte-black instrument gauges, an aviation-grade clock in the middle of the dash and a lower dash veneer that mimics the look of an old wooden airplane propeller. Even the transmission tunnel boasts an anodized aluminum cover with exposed torx-head bolts which attempts to match the fuselage of Rolls' award-winning (and Rolls-Royce-powered) Supermarine S6B aircraft.
No detail was overlooked in creating a truly unique atmosphere for the Aviator Collection so much so that it has a leather-lined glove box with the following quote from Rolls himself embossed into it:

Man drives Rolls-Royce for 78 years then makes museum donation to ensure its preservation

Thu, 27 Dec 2012

Mr. Allen Swift died in 2005 at the impressive age of 102, but his automotive story is even more remarkable. Not only is the gentleman credited with owning a Rolls-Royce automobile longer than anyone else in the world, but he had the forethought and funds to ensure its future preservation after his death.
In 1928, while living in Springfield, Massachusetts, Swift's father gave him a 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly P1 Roadster as a graduation present (Springfield and Rolls-Royce have a history - from 1920 to 1931, the British automaker built 2,944 vehicles in the city as part of its attempt to establish a US plant). The young man was passionate about his green-over-green softtop convertible, not only driving it on a regular basis, but maintaining it meticulously over the decades (the two door-received a complete body-off restoration and engine rebuild in 1988).
Rolls-Royce acknowledged Mr. Swift in 1994, awarding him a crystal Spirit of Ecstasy award for his length of ownership. By 2005, Swift had logged more than 170,000 miles on its analog odometer and he was recognized as the oldest living person to have owned a car from new. He passed away that year.

Rolls-Royce to reach 4,000 units this year

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Rolls-Royce is, by nature, an exclusive auto marque, but it has been steadily increasing its sales to the point that it could be looking at 4,000 units by the end of this year, setting a new record for the German-owned British automaker.
You don't even need to go back a decade to find Rolls-Royce sales hovering around the 1,000-unit mark. But that was when Goodwood only offered the Phantom saloon. The subsequent addition of the Phantom DHC and Phantom Coupe helped expand its portfolio, enlarged even further by the addition of the Ghost in 2010, by which time total sales were reaching 3,000 units.
The Spirit of Ecstasy marque has been hovering around the 3,500 mark ever since, but with the Wraith now in the mix and its reach extending into growing markets around the world, Autocar reports that global sales could top 4,000 units this year. (Of course that pales in comparison to one-time sister brand Bentley, which topped 10,000 deliveries last year, but Rolls-Royce typically competes at a higher price bracket.)
