Kachel Motor Company Presents - 1982 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit with a Garnet Exterior, Beige leather interior, 6.8L V8 Engine, Automatic transmission, 22,915 miles, 2nd owner since 1983 2k miles. Excellent condition inside and out, meticulously maintained from the day it was purchased, Mahogany wood dashboard and door trim. Tires were replaced 4k ago, oil services performed every 3k, all maintenance up to date. This is a truly magnificent hand built automobile. Please view all pictures, this car is being listed with NO RESERVE!! This is definitely the best one out there, this one has a couple of quirks but very minor, 1) the control switch on the drivers door for the passenger window does not work, it works fine from the direct switch 2) the air conditioning is not cold and has not been converted to 134a 3) there are some rock chips in the nose of the car. 4) the leather needs to be conditioned and possibly re dyed but it is all intact and the car is very comfortable 5) the car has no catalytic converter and will not pass CA emissions, it is exempt in nearly every other location including MA where it passed state inspection without any issue at all. Rolls-Royce mulling V16 roadster, SUV
Fri, 22 Feb 2013Rolls-Royce may be working on a new, mega-powerful roadster for 2017. CAR reports the convertible would conceivably boast a V16 engine. Of course, the report gets a little muddled here, with CAR saying the engine would be very similar to that of the one that powers the Bugatti Veyron - the French machine makes use of a W16 mill. Even so, the article says the Rolls-Royce version could put down around 700 horsepower. Design wise, we're told the creation will feature a suitably long nose with the passenger compartment pushed far to the rear.
Of course, 2017 is a long way off, and the thought of a 16-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine bowing under the crush of ever more stringent government fuel efficiency and emission regulations seems unlikely. We'll just put this one in the wait-and-see file for the time being. In the interim, you can hop over to CAR for a closer look at the magazine's rendering of the would-be roadster. If a V16 convertible does happen, look for a smug look on Rowan Atkinson's face.
Oh, and about that SUV? There's not much to report, though CAR does note that officials are keeping a close eye on rival Bentley and its plans for a luxury utility vehicle. Rolls brand boss Harald Krüger has even gone so far as to admit "we're regularly debating whether to take action."
Rolls-Royce luxes up Paddington Bear
Thu, 06 Nov 2014There are few things quite as quintessentially British as Rolls-Royce and Paddington Bear. And now the two have come together in one glorious creation.
As part of a promotion for a new Paddington movie and to raise funds for the UK's National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), London is decorating itself with a series of 50 sculptures reinterpreting the classic British children's character dotting the Paddington Trail across the city.
One of those installations has been created by Rolls-Royce, whose take on Paddington wears a brown leather duffel coat with a purple cravat and hat, a zebrawood suitcase and a pair of MK8 driving goggles that pay homage to the company's gentleman-racer history. He stands atop a chrome base modeled after Rolls' iconic Pantheon grille.
Former Princess Diana Rolls-Royce being auctioned for charity [w/video]
Wed, 31 Oct 2012While it isn't that uncommon to see cars belonging to celebrities and dignitaries roll across the auction block these days, this car is a little extra special. This particular 1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was the car that Prince Charles and Princess Diana arrived at the White House in during a visit in 1985. As some added trivia, this was also the visit where Princess Di cut a rug with none other than John Travolta.
Volo Auto Museum will be auctioning off this piece of American and British history on November 9th - exactly 27 years from Princess Di's White House visit. According to the auction listing, this armored Silver Shadow was the official car of the UK's embassy, and it has been valued at around $2 million by the Berman Museum of History. The auction will have no reserve with some of the proceeds going to the Children with Cancer UK charity that Princess Diana started in 1988.
