1988 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Long Wheel base. The car has been wrecked and is being sold as a parts car. I recently acquired this car to use a few parts from it for my Bentley. I have removed the tail lights, and the front seat back panels including picnic tables. Everything else shown in the pictures goes with the car.

The engine runs but the car can not be driven due to the front end damage. The drive train appears to be complete. One of the four wheels has damage but the other three look to be in good condition. The Hankook tires appear to be fairly new with deep tread. The wood door caps and dash trim are in very nice condition especially considering the age. The leather interior is also in good condition with the typical wear areas that these cars often have.

I will include with the sale of the car two rear doors shells and door glass that are in very good condition. The doors are a left and a right rear door.

The car is sold 'AS IS' with no warranty what so ever. The car will come with a bill of sale. All sales are final.

The car is at my residence in San Diego, CA 92130. Buyer is responsible to pick up the car or to have shipping arranged. I recommend using Uship to find the best deal on shipping.
$1000 non-refundable deposit due via Pay Pal within 24hrs of auction end. Balance due within 7 days after the auction ends. Balance can be made via Pay Pal (plus 3% Pay Pal fee) in cash upon pick-up or by cashiers check mailed or at time of pickup.

The car must be picked up within 14 days after the auction ends.

Please ask any questions before bidding. I will consider offers.

Grey Poupon's Pardon Me Lost Footage ad airs during Oscars

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Those of you that took our tip and tuned in for last night's Academy Awards may have caught the latest iteration of the famous Grey Poupon commercials, featuring a pair of Rolls-Royce sedans and their condiment-loving stewards. The update to the 1981 commercial was only shown in part on television, however, as the mustard company directed viewers to its website to see the entirety of the Lost Footage spot. Of course if you didn't bother then, you can just scroll down to see the full-length two-minute commercial here.
As you're viewing, note that the Grey Poupon marketers did not, it would appear, get official sanction from Rolls-Royce this time around. While the Rollers in the commercial have all sorts of James Bond-like accouterments, they don't appear to have the official Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornaments, for example, and they have restyled lights and grilles. Check out the new spot below, and see if it stacks up to the iconic Pardon Me original.

Aeroboat packs 1,100 seahorses of Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 power

Wed, 21 May 2014

We don't typically cover boats here - this is, after all, Autoblog and not Aquablog - but every so often something comes along that makes us want to dip our toes in the water, whether it's a Jaguar-designed speedboat, a Gulf-liveried megayacht or a Lamborghini-powered Riva Aquarama. This is another one of those occasions.
Set to be unveiled at the Salute to Style show in July at The Hurlingham Club in London, the Aeroboat is a motor yacht that seems to blend retro and furutistic lines in equal measure that would make Jules Verne proud without going Steampunk. Inspired by the Spitfire fighter plane, the Aeroboat packs aircraft-inspired switchgear and shock-mounted seats into a long, sleek form. But what really has our interests piqued is what lies beneath the stylish decks.
Each of the dozen Aeroboats to be built will pack a reconditioned, marinized, fuel-injected Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine - the same 27-liter powerplant that propelled the Spitfire. With 1,100 horsepower on tap, it's expected to propel the Aeroboat up to a top speed between 75 and 95 knots, or 86-109 miles per hour by landlubber standards, which is pretty damn fast on the open water.

Rolls-Royce Ghost getting a nip and tuck

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

While there isn't too much competition in the "vehicles priced more than houses" market, automakers still have to keep their products fresh, and it looks like the Rolls-Royce Ghost could be getting a slight facelift for 2014. Like the rest of the Ghost, these spy shots show that Rolls-Royce even makes exquisite body camouflage as it takes a close look to really see that any material has been added to the face.
From what we can tell, though, it looks like the Ghost might be getting a nip/tuck to the front end. This will bring its appearance closer to what we saw on the Rolls-Royce Wraith - the coupe version of the Ghost that debuted back in March at the Geneva show - reshaped headlights that feature LED running lights and also what appear to be LED turn signals. More minor changes to the Ghost include restyled door mirrors that might get some aero tweaks, as well as a smooth rear fascia devoid of visible exhaust outlets.
What we don't know is whether the Ghost will also be getting the more powerful version of the V12 found in the Wraith that produces 624 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, versus the current Ghost's 563 hp and 575 lb-ft.
