1990 Saab 900 Convertible Turbo

You are bidding on a 1990 Saab 900 convertible Turbo for parts or rebuild - the car does run. Engine is in great shape but the Automatic transmission stopped working about a 2 months ago. I have a clear title in hand. It is a very complete car and would be excellent for parts, rebuild or switch out the bad automatic transmission and go with a 5 speed!!!

Convertible Top is in ok shape, no rips or tears but the back window is coming undone from the top is a couple of spots. The body has no rust and the paint is in fair condition, clear coat coming off in spots on the trunk lid. Rare gray top cover in included with car. The car had the engine rebuilt about 8 years ago by Tom French in Irving Texas and it runs great. The interior is dark gray with some stitching coming undone on the drivers and part of the rear seat bottom. Check out the pics for the rest of the interior, not perfect but all included. I found the Bentley manual and it will be included along with a box of misc extra parts (extra turn signal, CV boot covers(2), head light basket, side marker light, dash cover, neutral over ride switch, key with ignition and some small misc parts) with the car. If you need more photos just ask and I can send them to you.

This has been a great car and I am sad to see it go but other cars and trucks need my attention.

Buyer is responsible for all shipping. Easy to load at its current location. I can store the car for up to 5 days after it is paid for to give you time to make shipping arrangements. If you need longer then it will be 10 dollar a day storage fee.

This car is being relisted because of a non paying buyer! If you have 0 feedback please e-mail me before bidding or you will be removed from auction!

Thanks for looking!

Grainy leaked images show stillborn Castriota-designed Saab 9-3

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

The Saab faithful are going to be playing the "what if" game for years to come. It's one of the burdens of being a fan of a dead brand. A fresh batch of grainy 9-3 Phoenix images have made their way online, alleged shots of a design proposal penned by none other than Jason Castriota. The five-door looks to feature an honest liftback, though SaabsUnited.com says this particular vehicle was drawn up as part of a business plan in early 2011. As such, Castriota apparently told the site the final product was to look much more athletic than what we see here. While the low-resolution images make it difficult to tell much about the design, we certainly appreciate the familiar roofline, full band taillamps and the contrasting rear spoiler reminiscent of the old Saab 99 and 900 ducktails.
Unfortunately, we know all too well why this creation never saw the light of day. Would-be savior Victor Muller couldn't quite pull Saab out of its nosedive, and the company fell into bankruptcy before the 9-3 Phoenix could get off the ground. There's talk of the Phoenix platform and Saab brand having new life in other markets as EVs and even as gas cars, but the model seen here will likely never see production - let alone North American showrooms.

Saab owner may speed up relaunch with gas-powered 9-3

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the new owner of Saab, has good news for you if you happened to miss out on picking up a 9-3 before the company plummeted through bankruptcy. Automotive News Europe reports NEVS may offer a gasoline-powered 9-3 in 2013. That move would effectively step up the brand's re-launch plan by a full year. Originally, the company planned to introduce an electric vehicle in 2014, but NEVS is currently investigating ways to start production next summer using "a 9-3 with a traditional powertrain" in order to generate more cash for the electrification effort.
NEVS purchased Saab earlier this year with the intent of resurrecting the brand with a fully electric product portfolio. The new EVs would theoretically ride on the Saab Phoenix platform and be manufactured at the automaker's plant in Trollhattan, Sweden. The report of a resurrected gasoline model came courtesy of Mikael Oestlund, a company spokesperson familiar with the company's workings.

GM SUV window switch recall urges owners to park vehicles outside

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

It's not unusual for there to be a lag between an automaker announcing a recall and the official documentation showing up on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. So it's no surprise that a recent GM campaign took about a month to appear in its official capacity. However, there appears to be some big differences between the two reports with potential safety implications.
In late June, GM announced that it needed to recall 181,984 examples of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Buick Rainier, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7x from the 2005-2007 model years, plus the 2006 Chevy Trailblazer EXT and 2006 GMC Envoy XL. The new documents paint a slightly different picture with 184,611 needing repaired and different model years listed.
The reason for the fix is still the same, though. It's possible for fluid to contact the master power window switch module in the driver's door, which can corrode the part. Eventually this could cause a short circuit, leaving the buttons inoperable and potentially leading to a fire. But the new NHTSA documents add an important note: "A fire could occur even while the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made."
