1991 Saab 900 S Convertible 2-door 2.1l (classic) on 2040-cars

US $3,300.00
Year:1991 Mileage:122569
Location:

The car was last registered in 2009. I have kept the car covered with a car cover, in a covered carport, until about two months ago, when I moved it to its current location.

-The car runs well but it is not perfect.  Please see, “PROBLEMS,”  below.
-This car is not a turbo.

When I bought the SAAB, (about 6 years ago), the previous owner told me that the top was new, and that it had not been involved in any accidents.  I believe that the previous owner replaced the original radio with an upgraded radio, but I am not certain of this.
After buying the car, I had the car professionally painted. The remaining repairs seemed to me to be cosmetic and/or minor,

+ The car runs well and seems to have a lot of power. The engine seems fairly quiet.
+ I guarantee that the engine will pass a smog test.

+ No electrical problems
+ Wheels are real, (not hub-caps).
+ No rust or dry-rot.
+ Clear title

PROBLEMS:

Interior cosmetic - I have shown some, but not all, of those issues in the pictures.  The issue includes rips, tears, curling, and missing pieces(s). Several narrow cracks in the top of the dashboard.  Pieces of the burl wood type cover on the dash are torn or missing.

Convertible top -  Previous owner told me that the top had just been replaced.  Later noticed that there was a piece of tape at the bottom of the rear window.  Dont know why and I have left it there.  I also noticed that one seam has opened a bit.  You can see the tape and the seam in the pictures. Electronics work great!

Transmission:  The transmission is slightly slipping.
When you put the car in reverse, the transmission slips.  Also, when the car rapidly goes into overdrive, there is slipping.  I have noticed that, if I remove the guide for the shift lever, there is less slipping.  Also, I did not notice any slipping during normal forward driving.

Tires and wheels:  A wheel alignment is needed.  The front passenger side tire should be replaced immediately

AC: Does not work, not sure. I think it blows hot air.

Trunk lock: Can be opened electronically only. Key is stuck inside.

Seat belts:
The piece that the seatbelts plug into does not hold the seatbelts, and the covers for those pieces are both falling off.

Spoler:
The passenger side spoiler is currently inside of the car.  It has big crack in it, but is still in one piece.

Other problems:  There may be other problems that I do not know about, and there are likely other rips, chips, and tears on the interiorbut I have put the problems that I know about in this auction information.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Saab's latest Chinese owners facing their own credit woes

Sat, 16 Aug 2014

Poor Saab, it can't seem to get a break. General Motors couldn't seem to make a go of it, neither could Spyker, and now it seems that its latest owner is encountering some problems of its own.
That owner, of course, is National Electric Vehicle Sweden, a Swedish holding company owned by Chinese investors. NEVS recently restarted production at the Saab plant in Trollhättan, Sweden, and had some ambitious plans for the brand's revival, but it appears to have run out of cash.
This according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, which discovered that NEVS is having trouble paying its suppliers. One such supplier, called Labo Test, has reportedly been owed some $22,000 by NEVS since February, and without payment, petitioned the Swedish government to place NEVS into bankruptcy proceedings. If that seems a little extreme to you over twenty-two grand, it would seem the parties agree, as the petition has reportedly since been withdrawn.

Saab's Victor Muller wanted to nix Griffin, return to airplane emblem

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

According to Just-Auto.com Victor Muller wasn't a fan of the Saab Griffin logo. The executive was quoted as saying he wanted to "abolish" the Griffin logo and return to the airplane emblem. Muller made it clear that if he'd had his way, the propeller would have replaced the Griffin across the Saab lineup long ago.
National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the company that recently bought Saab, was forced to abandon the Griffin logo due to the fact that the emblem is still used by truck manufacturer Scania. The manufacturer is reportedly concerned about potential Chinese counterfeiting - NEVS is owned by Youngman, a Chinese automaker - though it's unclear how that relationship would lead to illegal copies.
Either way, NEVS has said the loss of the Griffin logo isn't that important to the company so long as it can continue to build on the Saab name. Muller, meanwhile, said he wishes NEVS luck in the company's electric-vehicle endeavor, but that he doesn't understand its new business model.

Saab 900 SPG is the latest Petrolicious love story

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

The latest video from the crew at Petrolicious covers one funky Swede - a 1989 Saab 900 SPG. Produced from 1978 to 1998, the 900 enjoyed a long history, and thanks to its iconic look, it's quickly becoming a modern classic for the off-kilter car enthusiast. The SPG, short for Special Performance Group, makes this a particularly rare find, with owner Jordan Melville saying, "I didn't even realize what I had at the time."
Melville gives a rundown of his life with the 900 and his passion for Saab overall, even reflecting on that dark day that saw the Swedish brand closed its doors. As always, the videography is excellent and the story is intriguing in this latest video from Petrolicious. You can view the entire video down below.
