2007 Saturn Aura Xr Sedan 4-door 3.6l on 2040-cars
Flagler Beach, Florida, United States
This Saturn is a midsize sedan segment with the new, appealing Aura. It's one of the few mainstream
family cars has a V6. The Aura's had a $22,000 starting retail price!!!!!! The new-for-2007, 5-passenger, Saturn Aura looks good with its Saturn Sky-like front grille and headlights, European-styled rear deck, bright, light-emitting diode taillights and standard and sizable 18-inch wheels and tires. Inside, the Aura has upscale-looking plastics and other materials and well-arranged buttons, knobs and other controls for very comfortable driving. The Aura received the top, five-out-of-five-stars rating from the federal government for passenger protection in frontal and side crash tests. Among the Aura's standard safety features are four adjustable and lockable head restraints, frontal airbags, side-mounted airbags and ceiling-mounted curtain airbags as well as traction control. The Aura's starting price was close to the starting price of a 2007 Honda Accord that has only a 166-horsepower, 4-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. The Saturn Aura includes air conditioning, power windows and door locks, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, AM/FM stereo with CD player and six speakers, Sunroof, remote entry, basic floor mats, cruise control, chrome-colored, exterior, side molding and rear seatbacks that split 60/40 and fold, tachometer. The XR includes up level amenities including leather seat trim, sound system, exterior chrome-colored door handles and a larger and higher-powered, 252-horsepower V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Nearly 16 feet long from bumper to bumper and 4.8 feet tall, the Aura is about an inch longer than the Camry and Sonata. The Aura's trunk is larger than the Camry's 15-cubic-foot space, though. All Auras have GM's new family of audio systems in the dashboard, with their large, easy-to-understand buttons and knobs, and it's easy to get pulled in by the good sound quality. |

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
Report: Saturn owners offered $2,000 to stick with GM products
Mon, 15 Feb 2010After its decision to euthanize Oldsmobile, General Motors knows exactly what happens when it mothballs one of its brands: GM loses market share to the competition. The General is trying to stop history from repeating itself with Saturn customers by offering $2,000 on the hood of every car and crossover donning the ringed planet badge. Automotive News says the offer actually started on February 2 and runs until the end of March. To be eligible for the $2,000 bounty Saturn owners must have leased or purchased their Saturn at least six months ago. Interestingly, those owners don't even have to turn in their Saturn to be eligible for the cash.
AN reports that research company R.L. Polk says even before Saturn went on the endangered species list, it lagged other GM nameplates in the all-important aspect of customer retention. The mass exodus from Saturn loyalty predictably intensified at the end of 2008 as customers became anxious over the future of the brand. For its part, GM insists that all Saturn warranties will be upheld and customers looking for service can still go to a GMC, Chevy, Buick or Cadillac dealership.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
