2013 Subaru Brz Limited Supercharged on 2040-cars
Corpus Christi, Texas, United States
I purchased this car a few months ago with the intention of
using it as my daily driver as I needed something that was good on gas, but
wanted something that was also fun to drive. I was really interested in the BRZ
as they have gotten rave reviews other than the fact that many had wished for a
bit more power. In coming across this build, I noticed it had everything I
would have ever wanted to do to a BRZ and plenty of “then some”. The car does
not disappoint as it handles phenomenally and has what feels to be an unlimited
power band. The car has been built right with everything flowing together, not
overdone or cheesy, but a purposeful, quality build that retains everything
that you love about the BRZ and takes it one step further. OK, a few steps
further. So, why now am I wanting to sell it? I took a leap of faith
buying this thinking I could transition from my 2010 Tundra Crewmax 4X4 to
something that was a purposeful built, fuel efficient, sports car. Frankly, I
was wrong. There is plenty to love about this car, but it is just not me. The car was just inspected and serviced with care paid to
the few minor details needing attention (alignment, tire balancing, and leaking
brake line) and while at the speed shop, I had the suspension adjusted for
optimization. There are no issues with the car as I and the previous owner have
been meticulous in its care. The car has ~20k miles on it. I and the previous owner are
adult drivers who have never abused the car and have maintained her well. The
BRZ is regularly serviced with Motul products and inspected regularly. The
purchase price of the car new was $32.5K (not including taxes) with over $22K
of premium parts and clean/quality upgrades invested into the car. It's truly
done right and all-around perfect. The Limited Trim includes navigation, push button start,
alcantara/leather heated seats, dual automated climate control w/digital read
outs, and a Homelink adaptive rear view mirror. Subaru WRX STI prototype spied in motion
Thu, 18 Apr 2013Earlier this week, we got all hot and bothered over a set of spy photos showing the next-generation Subaru WRX STI testing at the Nürburgring. And while pretty still shots of a camouflaged car are always nice to look at, stirring up lots of speculation, having video is even better. Good thing, then, that our trusty spies were on hand to get some rolling footage of that STI as it lapped the infamous German track.
Now, as a good majority of the comments on our previous post will point out, it looks like Subaru has dumbed down the design of that decidedly hot WRX Concept from New York for the road-going car. Of course, we need to wait until all that swirly paper is pulled off the body, but from what we can see here, it looks like this new 'Rex will be more akin to the current Impreza than we were originally led to believe.
So while we wait and hope that what's under the camouflage will be something sexy, have a look at the video below to watch the WRX STI prototype get worked out on the 'Ring.
Drive looks at a pair of STI-ified Subaru Impreza RS Coupes
Tue, 15 Oct 2013Among tuners, the legions of Subaru fans are hard to top, displaying all the fanaticism of English soccer fans and a dedication to their vehicles that borders on obsessive. These are compliments, by the way. In the latest video from Drive, Matt Farah takes a look at a pair of very special Imprezas - early Impreza 2.5RS Coupes that have had some serious heart transplants.
The first, a traditional blue model, sports the 2.5-liter, turbocharged flat-four from the 2004 WRX STI, which is good for around 300 horsepower. The other Impreza is a bit more hardcore - the engine is a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder from the JDM WRX STI, which we suppose makes it more of an Impreza 2.0RS Coupe. Besides the different engines, both cars represent the unique ideas and style of their owners.
The 10-minute video explores this, digging into why people tune, and how it's a reflection of their own personal driving style and character. Take a look below for another fun vid from the team at Drive.
WRX Concept styling may transfer to production Impreza, next WRX
Thu, 05 Jun 2014Remember the original concept that previewed the latest generation Subaru WRX? If not, then just look above for a gallery of photos following its debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show. We loved it, and thus, were sort of disappointed when we first saw the less-aggressive production model.
It's not that the production 2015 WRX is ugly, per se. It just doesn't have the gaping grille, four-door coupe lines or squinting headlights that give the concept so much verve. But as it turns out, Subaru might have realized that it was on the right track with the more assertive styling. Rumors coming out of Australia suggest that the shape could form the basis for the next-generation Impreza, and next WRX, along with a major platform shift.
Subaru chief designer Mamoru Ishii tells Motoring that that the next-generation car will ditch the rather utilitarian current design in favor of something more exciting. Like the WRX concept, the design will start wide at the bottom for an aggressive stance and taper up to the roof. That styling would likely get even more aggressive for the next 'Rex.
