Up for sale, 2005 Subaru Outback XT AWD turbo wagon. Clean history and title as you will see in the autocheck. 151,700 miles and change as I'm still driving it. I have a small repair shop and work on almost exclusively Subaru. I bought this car from a neighbor when the factory turbo failed early this year. He drove it right to me to look at after it happened. (Snapped impeller shaft) and sold it to me because he couldn't afford the proper repairs. I bought a 12,000 mile OEM VF40 turbo and along with that to be safe I: Pulled the oil pan and flushed engine pouring oil down the turbo return, installed new STI style rear sump pan with heavy duty Moroso oil pickup tube. Installed new Subaru Oil cooler, cleaned and resealed oil pump, flushed turbo oil lines, removed banjo bolt screens, cleaned AVCS valves and performed multiple oil changes using high quality cenpeco oil. Also while I had it in the shop I gutted the uppipe for safety reasons and performed a full timing belt service replacing the belt with OEM gates belt, OEM timing belt tensioner, and all 4 idlers as well as a new water pump and thermostat. And obviously new antifreeze. Timing belt was previously done once at 124k or so but I felt better doing it fresh myself with all hardware associated. I did all work as if I was keeping the car (which I like to do anyway) but I no longer need the car. The body is in great shape, no rust. A few minor scratches and maybe a couple tiny parking lot dings but overall excellent shape. Undercarriage is clean, not typical northeast rusted. Interior is in good shape, power driver seat, heated seats, 6 disc CD player, AC, cruise, power windows Nice tires, everything works as it should, only thing I know it needs is the rear window wiper arm that broke which I will replace before it sells. The 2.5 4 cam engine sounds great, runs very strong. Trans shifts excellent, no noises, clutch is solid. Great all around car, fly in and drive it home or I can help with reasonable shipping. Car is for sale locally so until reserve is met it might be pulled anytime. Your welcome to call me at 518-281-605eight if you have any questions or want to see it. Also want to say I have the engine cover but leave it off as I like the look better but it comes with it. Thanks for looking

Subaru looks back on record-setting WRX STI from 2011 Isle of Man

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

In what we can only presume/hope is a precursor to the launch of the next-gen WRX STI, Subaru has released three videos now giving us a look back at the history of the STI-badged WRX models. In this third video, Dominick Infante, national manager of product communications at Subaru of America, got ahold of the automaker's 2011 WRX STI that broke records for the Isle of Man TT Challenge a couple of years ago.
In 2011, rally driver Mark Higgins piloted this car to a lap speed record of 115 miles per hour and a lap time record of 19:56.7 around the 37.8-mile course. The race-prepped STI, which Infante refers to as an "STI on steroids," features a beefed-up suspension, a wonderful-sounding open exhaust and the removal of the speed limiter to go with full roll cage and racing seats and harnesses.
Scroll down to see - and hear - new driving footage of this 2011 WRX STI with Infante behind the wheel as well as some race footage from 2011 - including a near-disaster Higgins averted at 150 mph. Also, be sure to check out the previous videos from Subaru for the 1998 Impreza 22B STI and a 2004 WRX STI.

2015 Subaru Legacy, Outback crash their way to IIHS Top Safety Pick+ ratings [w/video]

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

The Subaru Legacy and Outback are the latest vehicles to be awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's most prestigious safety title, Top Safety Pick+.
As we've explained many times before, this only applies vehicles that can score an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating on the five IIHS crash tests and earn at least a "Basic" rating for crash prevention systems.
In the Legacy's case, it totally aced IIHS's testing, earning "Good" scores on the small overlap, front moderate overlap, side impact, roof crush and rear impact tests, while also bringing home the top "Superior" rating for its optional EyeSight system.

Subaru previews Levorg concept ahead of Tokyo reveal

Wed, 30 Oct 2013

When I was a kid I went with my family to a Subaru dealership. My brother, being clever as he is, pointed out that Subaru backwards spelled "you're a bus." The portly salesman was not amused, and we bought a Passat instead. Fast forward a couple of decades and we can't help but wonder if Subaru wasn't thinking the same thing when it named its new concept Levorg, which spells "grovel" backwards. The company itself says the name is a combination of the words "Legacy," "Revolution" and "Touring," but one way or another, that's what they're calling it, and here are the first preview images and details on the concept which Fuji Heavy will unveil at the Tokyo Motor Show this year.
Designed to combine the feel of a sports car with the practicality of a touring car, the Levorg looks set to preview the next step in a long line of performance-oriented Subaru wagons. It packs a 1.6-liter turbocharged boxer four and next-generation EyeSight technologies in what looks to be a svelte yet muscular form that could point the way forward for the next Legacy.
The Levorg, however, is not the only concept which Subaru will reveal in Tokyo this year. The Japanese automaker has also revealed plans to unveil the Cross Sport Design Concept (which could preview the replacement for the discontinued Tribeca), the Crossover 7 Concept (which looks like a taller version of the Legacy wagon with an apparent third row of seats), and an Evolution version of the Viziv concept presented in Geneva earlier this year. Scope them out in the gallery above and press release below.
