This is a once in a lifetime buy. This 1992 Subaru SVX LSL is a very impressive vehicle with a very unique history. I came upon the opportunity to purchase this vehicle over this past summer, as it sat, having been garage stored since 2002. I could not pass up the chance to own this piece of automotive history. The vehicle was initially purchased in 1992 (believe it or not) by a woman born in 1926. In 1998 it was traded in at a local dealership. The owner of that dealership thought so highly of the car that it was the only one from his lot that he kept when they closed down. He stored it in his personal garage soon after. There it sat until this summer when he offered the sale. Upon purchasing the car I went ahead and changed the fluids, fuel pump, fuel filter & battery. It started up first try. To test the durability of this Subaru I took a Fall trip from Maryland to New Hampshire and back with no issues. I have included plenty of pictures so as to give full detail into the cars strengths and weaknesses. I will also try to describe everything as detailed as I can. Before the car was stored it was given a new timing belt, new brakes, and new tires (I have all paperwork to verify). I replaced the parts previously stated and gave it a full cleaning. What I have found so far is that the engine runs very smooth and is very powerful, the transmission shifts effortlessly, braking is solid, and the car (interior and exterior) is in great original condition. Some of the faults that I have noted are that the gas gauge is not working (probably the sending unit), the rear seat behind, the head rests, has small cracks in the leather (pictured), some areas on the roof and below the driver rear window have the clear coat coming up (pictured), and every so often the car will crank 6-8 times before starting (not sure what the issue is there). I really hate to sell the car as it will soon fall in the collector car category and promises to only increase in value with as low as the miles are (84.444). That being said, financially, I have no choice. I hope to find an enthusiast that will appreciate this rare Subaru for all of it's unique characteristics. If you are not familiar with these cars, do a little research before deciding your bidding price. I was incredibly surprised to read how few of these were sold in the US and the fact that they have been verified to achieve 160mph +. If you have any questions, or would like to see the car before the auction close, feel free to contact me. This auction is being offered with NO RESERVE, so the high bidder takes it home. This vehicle is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24hrs and full payment within 7 days.

Thanks and Happy Bidding!

Subaru Forester named Motor Trend 2014 SUV of the Year [w/video]

Thu, 10 Oct 2013

Each year, Motor Trend hands out its coveted Golden Calipers to its Car, Truck and SUV of the Year, and in the latter category, this year's bragging rights belong to the redesigned Subaru Forester. In the 14-year history of the SUV award category, Subaru is the only automaker to win three times (2009, 2010 and 2014) and the Forester is the only model to make a return appearance having also won the award back in 2009. In the last six years, this award has either gone to a Subaru or to a luxury crossover/SUV (Mercedes GL-Class in 2013, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque in 2012 and Porsche Cayenne in 2011).
Out of the 13 new or updated crossovers and SUVs in contention for the award, the 2014 Forester came out on top thanks its value, fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive attitude. Rather than a head-to-head battle, the utility vehicles are all judged on six criteria (design, engineering, efficiency, safety, value and performance of intended function). Other vehicles on the consideration list included the Acura MDX, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Toyota RAV4.

Subaru revisits 1998 Impreza 22B STI

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

It was 1998 when Subaru made some crucial changes to its World Rally Championship Impreza, such as increasing the displacement of the turbocharged flat-four-cylinder engine from 2.0 to 2.2 liters and fitting wide fender flares. Subaru won the WRC manufacturer championship with the car that year, and it also was the year of the automaker's 40th anniversary. To celebrate the milestone, the company came out with this limited-edition, road-going Impreza, the hallowed 22B STI, which looked nearly identical to the rally car.
Only 424 22Bs were built, and most of them stayed in Japan. But Dominick Infante, national manager of product communications at Subaru of America, was able to secure a drive in one of the only two 22Bs in the US. He details the car's history and some of the design and engineering cues that made the Impreza STI so popular both in motorsport and on the street, but we were caught up listening to the exhaust and admiring the timeless blue-and-gold paint. You should too, so head below to watch the video.

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.
