Typical cosmetic wear-and-tear from a car of this age. The most significant cosmetic damage is a ~5 inch scratch on the plastic front bumper that removed the paint down to the black plastic. It is visible in the photos in this listing. One of the fog lamps also has a cosmetic crack due to road debris. In the interior, there is a thin, small (less than 1 inch) scratch on the plastic dashboard panel next to the A'PEXi Turbo Timer. The OZ Prodrive wheels also have some scratches from rubbing against the curb, but these are also cosmetic."

You are bidding on a relatively low mileage 2002 Subaru WRX that has been custom modified and tuned to approximately 320 horsepower, with many aftermarket parts and upgrades. I have been the sole owner of the car since it was new, and all of the modifications have been performed only by me and Verocious Motorsports.  The car was professionally dyno-tuned by Verocious in 2008.  The value of the upgrade parts alone is in excess of the initial price of the auction, not including the cost of labor and the value of the base car itself.

This auction has no reserve price!

For delivery, I am willing to meet the auction winner for local pickup anywhere (within reason) in the Washington D.C. and Philadelphia metropolitan areas, or anywhere on the I-95 corridor in between.  Otherwise, the buyer is responsible for arranging shipment.  If you wish to pick the car up in person, please message me in advance of bidding to confirm your desired location.

Payment must be either in the form of a cashier's check from a US or Canadian bank or a personal check.  In the case of a personal check, delivery will be postponed until the check clears.

Parts and upgrades:
Special Deal: If bidding goes over $8000, I will include a harness bar (similar to Sparco's) and two red Simpson Racing 5-point harnesses for the front seats.  This is over a $600 value.  I used to have it installed, but I recently had a child and I needed to fit a car seat in the back.  So the bar had to go.  It's a very simple and quick install consisting of just a handful of bolts.

The brakes and tires have all been replaced within the last 18 months.  The car is current with Pennsylvania state inspection (it passed in September of 2012).  The car has never been in an accident and there is no structural damage; it has typical cosmetic wear-and-tear from a car of this age.  The most significant cosmetic damage is a ~5 inch scratch on the plastic front bumper that removed the paint down to the black plastic (someone scraped it in a parking lot).  It is visible in the photos in this listing.  The passenger side foglight is also cracked, but it is still functional.  In the interior, there is a thin, small (less than 1 inch) scratch on the plastic dashboard panel next to the A'PEXi Turbo Timer.  The OZ Prodrive wheels also have some scratches from rubbing against the curb, but these are also cosmetic.  There is currently at least one set of keys included included with this auction.  I do have a second set burried in a moving box.  I am actively looking for it and will update the listing once they have been located.

Toyota GT86 engineers explored shooting brake and sedan variants, are they still in the cards?

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

According to the Toyota UK blog, engineers for the automaker were so excited developing the GT86 coupe that they investigated producing a whole family of models based on the rear-wheel drive sports car. And at least one engineer - product chief Tetsuya Tada - still hopes it can happen, even if not everyone at Toyota is onboard. Tada: "Actually we tried to do this secretly but the executives found us out. They said: 'What are you doing? Will you please focus on the coupe.'"
Those mooted variants included both a four-door sedan and a shooting brake. Why? Aside from the pure excellence of a lightweight, brilliantly handling hatchback, Toyota was keenly aware of the fact that it may need to spread the cost of development out across several models. Tada says that's part of the reason why it was so easy to create the convertible. The company knew from the outset that a softtop version was in the cards, and built the machine's structure to accommodate having the roof sliced off.
Tada also made mention of the already-announced collaboration between Toyota and BMW. The engineer said that the GT86 was particularly helpful because it demonstrated just how successful a product conceived and designed by two different companies can be. While he didn't say exactly what Toyota and BMW are up to, it's clear the two are looking into a number of possibilities. It's an interesting read with a lot of

Six 'shut up and take my money' cars

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

Any time you see this iconic moment in pop culture - Shut up and take my money! - posted in response to a new car reveal, rumor for an upcoming model or even lip-service to a vehicle that should exist, you can bet there's some intrinsic good in the idea. Though depending on the person offering up the cash, that good could take the form of extraordinary form, functionality, weight savings, power, handling, etc. You get the idea.
In fact, when I first proposed this list, I reached out to the Autoblog staff to help me brainstorm. Here are some of the ideas they offered up that I ultimately didn't use: Jaguar XE Coupe, Pagani Huayra Roadster, Mercedes-Benz S-Class "parade car" (cabriolet), Morgan 3-Wheeler with Ducati V-twin, Ford Transit Connectamino (pickup), Mercedes CLA63 AMG, Ford Fusion 5.0, BMW i8 Spyder, Lexus RC-F Shooting Brake, Volvo XC90 Polestar. Oh, and things we collectively wanted to stick Dodge's Hellcat in were almost as numerous as models that Fiat Chrysler Automotive currently makes (though none quite so compelling as the Grand Cherokee you see above.)
Ultimately though, while I used a couple of ideas from my colleagues, the list of cars I'd shell out for unquestionably is very personal. Though it isn't complete, what follows is a selection of cars whose very existence would prompt me - or the trust-fund-baby versions of me - to utter without hesitation: "Shut up and take my money."

Subaru Viziv GT gears up for Vision Gran Turismo action [w/video]

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Ever wonder what it would look like if Subaru made a big brother to the BRZ, maybe to take on the Nissan GT-R or Japan's Super GT series? (Well, the BRZ already competes in the GT300 class, but we're talking about the GT500 major leagues here.) Wonder no more, car fans, because it'd probably look something like this. Only it's not a road car, and it's not a racecar. It's the latest addition to the growing roster of Vision Gran Turismo concepts for GT6.
Borrowing on the design theme put forth by the Viziv concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and the Viziv 2 concept showcased the following year, the Viziv GT Vision Gran Turismo is envisioned as a racing machine. Its hypothetical hybrid powertrain pairs a 2.0-liter boxer four, turbocharged and direct-injected, to a trio of high-output electric motors to deliver a claimed 591 horsepower and 593 pound-feet of torque.
Carbon fiber construction helps offset the weight of the motors and batteries to keep the hybrid racing shooting brake down to a theoretical 3,000 pounds, with competition-spec aero to keep it glued to the track. Gamers will be able to download it directly in the game as part of the latest update, but you can scope it out right here in the image gallery above and the video and press release below.
