I bought this 1988 Sammi about a year ago from a mechanic here in town. The first thing I noticed about this vehicle was how good the body looked, and it still does. I was thinking about getting someone to restore it, but don't have time to get that involved. The windows work fine, but I don't have window cranks for either door.  I've  had it tuned up, changed oil twice, and the drag arm link was replaced.  Sent the seats to Mexico to have them reupholstered and installed a CD/radio.  It gets great gas mileage and the four wheel drive works very well.  Haven't had much time to take it out in the desert, but on the two or three times we've been out, it ran like a champ.  I had new shocks put in it about 6 months ago and it developed an occasional  (which means rarely) wobble in the steering, but only when the vehicle is going downhill.  I'm not a mechanic, but I think the shocks are not the right kind.   Where I live, it does not have to pass a smog check, so I haven't had any tests like that run on it, but it does not use oil.  The winner of this auction can pay me through paypal or with a cashier's check. Either way will work and I don't have a preference.  As soon as I have the funds, the winner will then be free to come and get the vehicle or have it shipped.  I will send the title as soon as payment has "cleared".

Suzuki ending auto sales in Canada, too

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

Suzuki of Japan has reportedly made the decision that almost everyone assumed it would make when it announced it was leaving the US market: when the 2014 model year concludes, it will no longer sell cars in Canada. With six employees overseeing its auto business in Canada and a dealer network that has shrunk to 55 outlets in the country, we can't say we're shocked.
At the time of the US announcement, however, the senior VP of sales and marketing in the automotive division of Suzuki Canada said it would be able to survive on its own because, among other reasons, Canadians prefer smaller, more fuel-efficient cars that fit the company's offerings. Five months later, after some time to think about a 30-percent drop in sales to open up 2013 instead of the 1.4-percent increase in sales that Suzuki Canada posted last year, things have evidently changed.
The Globe and Mail reports that as is in the US, Suzuki's motorcycle, ATV and marine divisions in Canada will remain.

Suzuki sallies forth with new C-segment crossover with fishy S-Cross Concept

Thu, 27 Sep 2012

It's not what we'd call attractive, really, but at least the new S-Cross Concept is something fresh from Suzuki. Introduced to the world at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Suzuki says the pale green machine previews its upcoming production C-segment crossover.
We hope some of its fishier elements - according to Suzie, the specially created Crystal Green Metallic body color evokes "nature in the city and the city in nature", whatever that means - remain in the conceptual pond, but either way, it's good to see that the Japanese automaker hasn't lost its will to compete in a heated segment of the market. In fact, Suzuki promises that the S-Cross "will be the first in an ambitious program of annual European model launches which Suzuki will be starting in 2013. "
What are the chances we'll see a production version of this crossover concept in the U.S.? Your Magic 8 Ball is as good as ours... In any case, feel free to peruse the press release below.

2013 Suzuki SX4 gets new generation to carry on without us [w/video]

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

Despite the fact that the coffin has been sealed on Suzuki's US automotive arm, the brand is carrying on elsewhere in the world. The first new product to spearhead the Japanese automaker's product offerings in Europe is this SX4 crossover, making its official debut here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. You may remember the little SX4 as the cheapest all-wheel-drive car on sale in the US, packing cute styling and efficient, affordable packaging. And it doesn't appear that the formula has changed too much for this new generation, despite what we think are less attractive new duds derived from Suzuki's 2012 S Cross Concept.
The new SX4 is powered by a choice of two 1.6-liter engines - one diesel, one petrol - the former mated to a six-speed manual transmission while the latter uses a CVT with a "seven-speed manual mode" operated by steering wheel-mounted paddles. All-wheel drive remains intact on the SX4, now with four driver-selectable modes and the Allgrip name.
Suzuki is touting the SX4 as having the world's first double sliding glass sunroof, offering "the largest opening areas" in the segment. Overall, the updated interior looks nicely designed and quite functional, though not exactly a shining beacon of refinement.
