I am listing for sale my awesome 1965 Toyota Land cruiser fj45 pickup truck.  Not many of these were imported to the US, and they were only imported from 1965-1967.  This truck is the rare short wheel base version, as well as removable hard top version.  For it's age, it is in great shape.  Surface rust exists in places, but overall it's in wonderful driveable shape, considering the unrestored quality of it.  I have replaced the gas motor with a 3B diesel motor from a 1985 Canadian BJ60.  These motors are legendary, and can run for several hundred thousand miles.  I am averaging over 20 mpg, and the engine can run regular diesel or biodiesel, as I have replaced fuel lines with fully synthetic lines.  4 wheel drive works well, 4 low and 4 hi accessed by shifter in floor.

The good:
-3B diesel Toyota engine (compression numbers: 375/350/350/400  psi), with approx. 250,000 miles on it.
-4 speed transmission/split transfercase from New Zealand Land cruiser
-1" heavy duty shackle lift
-33" BF Goodrich all terrain tires, with 50% tread left
-OEM front bumper
-Clean, re done floor pan (by previous owner)
-Disc brakes in front
-Heavy duty galvanized roof rack

The bad:
-A bit of surface rust
-2 small holes (smaller than a dime) in the rear corners of the bed
-Dents on fenders
-Speedometer and odometer currently not working, but can fix.

Nissan, Toyota offering payment deferments to people affected by government shutdown

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

Two weeks into the budget-related government shutdown and it sounds like some progress is finally being made, but that doesn't really help furloughed government employees pay their bills. To help out a little, Nissan and Toyota are joining Hyundai with offering payment deferments to current owners and lessees.
In a release, a Nissan spokesperson said the company is "sympathetic to any of our customers who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances - many times outside of their control."
Both Japanese automakers are allowing payment extensions of up to 90 days without penalties or fees. Unlike the Hyundai Assurance Plan, though, it doesn't seem like the Nissan or Toyota assistance will be extended to those who are still in the buying process. Scroll down for press releases from both companies about their respective payment deferment programs.

Toyota Camry re-earns CR 'Recommended' rating following crash tests

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

All is right again in the Toyota kingdom. The Japanese manufacturer's bread-and-butter sedan, the Camry, has been put back on Consumer Reports' "Recommended" vehicle list, following improved performance in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's crash testing.
You'll recall that the 2012 and 2013 Camry were infamously booted from the list due to "Poor" ratings in IIHS' notoriously tough small-overlap crash testing. Toyota vowed - just last week actually - to fix the ratings. As the Toyota brand's head, Bill Fay, said last week, "It's still a five-star car. It still does very well in all the IIHS tests. It did not in [the small overlap frontal crash test], and we're busy making the necessary adjustments so that we can address that."
Now, though, those redesigned cars have been tested, earning an "Acceptable" rating in the overlap testing. According to Consumer Reports, Camrys built from November 2013 on feature new internal structures that improve the car's crash test scores enough to make it a "Recommended" buy. IIHS has also elevated the car back to a position in its Top Safety Pick category, although it falls short of the new gold standard, the Top Safety Pick + rating.

Hi-po Toyota GT86 to get KERS?

Fri, 09 Nov 2012

We happen to like the Toyota GT86 - and, it of course goes without saying that the same applies to the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S, as well - just the way it is. Yes, that includes the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine and its 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm.
That said, a little extra power never hurt anybody, right?
The most obvious way to add some punch to the GT86 would be with a turbocharger, and that has indeed long been rumored for an STI version of the BRZ. Will Toyota follow suit? According to Top Gear, the answer is no. Says GT86 chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, "I think 300bhp with a turbo and 200g/km of CO2 would be tasteless in this day and age. And a turbo would mean the loss of the GT86's uniqueness." Perhaps a bit harsh, but there you go.
