About us:   Amazonia-4x4 is a small family owned company located on the Treasure Coast (Hobe Sound, FL)   with over five years of experience in Restorations specialized in Toyota Land Cruisers FJ40s. Most of the work is done by us in our premises except for the paint job which is done at a professional Body Paint shop (Massey Yardley Body Shop). All the restoration process is documented with lots of pictures that we will provide to the winner on a CD as a courtesy.

Vehicle Description:

Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser 1979 with all the body parts taken apart and eventually sand blasted for better future rust prevention (primed, sealed and painted with BASF quality paint), the whole frame was sand blasted as well and immediately primed and painted with Professional black color in order to be restored. Undercarriage was completely black rubberized with excellent quality liner to prevent even more rust issues and give it a better nice looking finish to it.

Most of bolts, washers and nuts were replaced for full threatened Stainless Steel, and all other bolt and nuts and pieces that we did not replace for stainless steel were restored, replaced for zinc plated ones or painted as well.

Inside the body, we used a Professional grade tintable spray in liner (not painted over) to give the vehicle a better look and even more rust protection. So, if you have kids or a pet, well, no problem, you can carry them inside the vehicle without being afraid to scratch it, stain or damage the paint.

New upholstery in all 4 factory seats with marine grade vinyl, and a small color detail in the piping matching the vehicle color as well. All the seats frames were sand blasted, primed and black painted for excellent quality and finish. For better ride entertainment we installed a Sony Marine USB/iPod ready stereo and 4 sony marine speakers.

The engine: This is a great 6 cylinders Toyota 2F completely refurbished (not rebuilt) with new gaskets and seals and the most important with all OEM Toyota parts in it. Compression was tested and as you can see in the detailed pictures, it was over 150psi each piston, and excellent leak down test. This engine has only original 42,600 miles in it (miles could vary due that we have it for sale locally and most of the time people want to take a test drive).

New gas hoses, gas filter, gas pump, gas sending unit, oil sending unit, OEM Toyota oil filter and new air filter as well. New DUI high performance Distributor and spark plugs, new OEM oil cap, OEM battery tray, OEM PCV valve and grommet, New OEM starter and alternator. New dual header and gasket as well.

The cooling system: Completely taken apart and cleaned out. New antifreeze. New water pump, thermostat and gasket all OEM, new sending unit. New stainless steel clamps all the way around and new Aluminum radiator.

All new Old Man Emu suspension, new shocks, new tie rod ends, new bushings, completely rebuilt front and rear ends, new OEM Rag joint, OME steering stabilizer, rebuilt steering drag link, new spring hangers and more.

This first-gen Toyota Celica is one mean mother

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

Brian Karasawa's gen-one Toyota Celica is, in a word, badass. As a long-standing fan of the marque, the doting owner has tried to both restore and improve his Celica keeping period-correct modifications in mind. The 20R/22R mashup engine is outputting roughly 185 horsepower and graced with a lot of JDM-specific parts and modifications. Clearly, the exhaust has been upgraded from stock, as clips of the orange Toyota in motion are accompanied by one hell of a nice sound.
Tastes clearly vary, and there's not as much love for the first-wave of Japanese metal as there is for similar era American-iron, but we're pleased to see these cars finally getting more time in the spotlight. Scroll down below to see why we're stoked, and consider cruising your local Craigslist for late 1970s and early 1980s Japanese coolness (before we get there first).

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands

Toyota FT-86 Open Concept would make a mighty fine droptop FR-S

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

There's nothing wrong with going topless. And Toyota is proving that its FT-86 (read: Scion FR-S/Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ) coupe is just as excellent with its roof removed. It may only be a concept, but this FT-86 Open previews a new droptop from the Japanese automaker to round out the Toyobaru sports car family. We're finally getting the chance to see the open-air FT-86 in person here at the Geneva Motor Show, and we're already yearning to take it canyon-carving.
Interestingly, the FT-86 retains the Toyota coupe's two-plus-two seating arrangement (we'd prefer a proper roadster setup here), but things still look good for this droptop two-door. We'll be curious to see how the car looks with its folding soft top in place (operated by fancy-shmancy electronics, by the way).
As for production intent, rumors have been flying about a production Scion FR-S convertible, but until we hear it directly from Toyota. Consider our hopes in check but our fingers crossed.
