ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1985 Toyota Landcruiser FJ60 4x4 one of a kind! Really have wrestled with keeping this one but I have too many jeeps and don't have time to enjoy it. This cruiser is very cool, lift kit, aftermarket bumper, 80% tread 33" BFG Mud Terrains on stock toyota wheels. Does have a rear mechanical locker, stock gears. ARB roof rack, KC lights, all spring lift with shocks. Did I mention its cool! Below is a brief description, please call me @ 336-817-7289(Brad) with any questions

Body & Paint: Pics speak for themselves, way better than any of the cruisers I ever had. Paint looks to be original, couple of little spots I pointed out looked like they have been touched up. I pointed to them in the pics. Very solid, frame looks great. Paint still has a good shine, I absolutely love the color. Door jams look good. According to carfax it has been in NC since new. Few small dings in the bottom of tailgate I took pics of. Again this thing is solid for a 30 year old vehicle

Interior: Other than the drivers seat interior is in very good shape for the year. I was going to have factory seat cover installed, but so far I have not been able to find one. Carpet is original and still in pretty good shape, has a few places that show some wear but nothing major. Dash still looks good, few imperfections I took pics of. Door panels look awesome, roll up windows, back lift gate and tailgate function well. Seats do have a few stains on them, but we have not really tried to clean them or pressure wash them. Headliner looks perfect, all seals are in very good shape, not dry rotted. Overall I would give interior a 7 on a scale of 10. If you were to recover drivers seat and give it a good cleaning it would look great.

Running gear and Driving: Well shes not fast, but she runs good. Drove it yesterday about 150 miles on interstate without issue. It does idle a little low and have a brand new factory carb Iwill install before you pick it up(Paid 400). Recent plugs, fuel pump and other odds and ends. 4x4 works great has factory Aisin Hubs, 4 speed manual transmission shifts great, clutch feels good. Lift kit is a couple years old, all springs, came with new shocks, shackles, steering stabilizer, etc. Drives great on the highway, tracks good, steering is tight, she will aeven hit 72 mph on flat highway wiith a tailwind! Speedo reads 58mph when you are going 70 according to GPS(due to larger tires). Only complaint is A/c does not work, compressor and all equipment is there, but belt is off. Small exhaust leak when cold, appears to be coming from donut gasket on manifold, did not bother me enough to change it. She does have factory gears, but does have a mechanical locker in the rear. Front is a winch bumper, looks like the mount would be for a Warn 8274. Does have front shackles for recovery. Again she is a joy to drive, does fine around town or on the interstate, gets thumbs up everywhere I go. Easily could be adaily driver if you can afford the gas. All lights, signals and gauges appear to be functioning properly, just passed NC safety inspection. Again call with any specific questions Brad 336-817-7289.

Overall: Its cool, its a Land Cruiser, it will help you get chicks, it will not win any races, it sucks gas, but it looks damn good doing it! You will be hard pressed to find a more solid example of a 80's Land Cruiser for less than 15 grand. It is still 30 years old, so you do need to check the oil, be able to operate roll up windows, and be able to operate basic hand tools to drive her everyday. Please call Brad @ 336-817-7289 with any questions

MotorWeek remembers retro icons, Supra and NSX

Thu, 16 Oct 2014

It's easy to poke a joke here and there about John Davis, the long-time host of MotorWeek. His voice is so monotonous that, from time to time, if you closed your eyes, you may think it's generated via a computer. But you have to give him and the rest of the show a lot of credit. The program has been on the air for decades, giving people direct, straight-down-the middle automotive reviews.
MotorWeek's massive back catalog of reviews are slowly making their way onto YouTube, and they provide a fascinating chance to look back on how performance cars rank against their contemporaries from back in the day. Two recent additions include the show's old looks at the 1986 Toyota Supra, the dawn of the third-generation model, and the now-iconic 1991 Acura NSX.
Both reviews are interesting in their own way. These days you hear nary a negative word about the original NSX, but MotorWeek isn't afraid to point out a few flaws. And the Supra really shows the progress of suspension tuning in the intervening decades because it has some serious body roll in the corners. Scroll down to check out both videos and get a blast from the automotive past.

Ford Fusion production scaled back just 3 months after it was accelerated

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

Three months after kicking off production of the Ford Fusion at its Flat Rock, MI factory, Ford Motor Company is taking steps to trim output in the face of heavily discounted competition from Toyota and a growing supply of vehicles.
The addition of Fusion production in Flat Rock - which also builds the Mustang - was meant to be what pushed the handsome mid-sizer past its arch-nemesis, the Toyota Camry. An extra facility building Fusions was also meant to curb the growing demand for Ford's highly profitable sedan.
But with word that Flat Rock would take "approximately" one extra week off for the holidays combined with an 88-day supply of Fusions - reportedly due in no small part to what Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas called "aggressive discounting of the Camry" - some analysts are now beginning to wonder if Ford may have overextended itself by adding a second Fusion facility to the mix.

180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains

Wed, 21 May 2014

If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.
