Are looking for something that you will sure to be the standout in the crowd? Well you found it here. I am not sure what the productions numbers where but this is a true Diesel 4x4 2dr Landcruiser LX. It is all in kilometers as it was imported into the country. These where not made for US production as the fuel mileage was to great! Not many of these ever existed and the ones that are still out people are holding on to. Not just because it is one of the only 2dr landcruisers! But find another 2dr landcruiser LX 4x4 in this condition at this price! She runs and drives great! She is geared extremely low in 1st gear to pull you out of any hole. She is also a 5peed and gets from what I was told about 40mpg on the highway. The body and paint are excellent except for some bubbling at the corners of the fender flares. The interior is excellent also with no rips or tears or cracks. There is one spot about an inch long on the drivers seat. All the glass is good and everything seems to work the way it is supposed to.There is approximately 4-6 inchs worth of lift. See sits way up there.I do not know what kind of lift but i will try and find out.The wheels and tires are in excellent condition also as this one of a kind off / on road collectors item is road worthy! There is also a high luggage/tire rack on the top. Please ask any and all questions before you bid. This rare vehicle is on here to sell and priced right! do not bid and then say you didnt know it was a diesel or that it was 4x4 or something else! Ask all your questions upfront so you know what you are getting. This and all the vehicles that I sell are forsale locally and worldwide. I reserve the right to end this sale to anytime before the bell rings. If you dont want to take the chance of losing this rare vehicle then bid to win! As with all my vehicles I will listen to all reasonable offers.Be prepared to pay immediately if you plan on making me an offer. All vehicles are sold as/is! You are more then welcome to come and visit our showroom and inspect any of our vehicles during normal business hours. Thank you for reading all this verbaige. I have spoken with my partner on this vehicle and he wants to let the auction run. It has been taken off the local market and is for sale only on this auction. There is not a buy it now for this vehicle..... BID TO WIN!!!

On Feb-07-13 at 13:47:40 PST, seller added the following information:

Sorry, when I mention the rust on the fender flares I meant fenders. On the front of the front fenders and in the wheel openings on the back quarters there are rust bubbles under the paint. There are no holes through the metal. The floors and frame are excellent. The rust on this cruiser is very minor compared to most of them out there. The paint looks original for those of you that have asked.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.

Toyota settles complaints with states Attorneys General for $29 million

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Toyota announced today that it has reached a settlement with the Attorneys General of 29 states and one US territory that will resolve their complaints relating to recalls performed by the automaker from 2005-2010, including those related to sticky accelerators and malfunctioning floor mats that may have contributed to cases of unintended acceleration.
The settlement includes a payout of $29 million to be divided among the states and US territory, as well as a commitment from Toyota "to take steps to make vehicle information more easily accessible to consumers to help them operate their vehicles safely and make more informed choices." The settlement also has Toyota continuing its rapid-response service teams and quality field offices that were put in place shortly after the largest of the recalls from 2010, as well as a "range of customer care amenities for owners of vehicles subject to certain recalls," though the press release below isn't specific about what those amenities might be.
This settlement marks the second major step in the last few months that Toyota has taken to settle legal disputes surrounding the unintended acceleration recalls, the first being a $1.4 billion settlement to address economic loss suffered by owners of current and past Toyota vehicles that may have lost value on account of these recalls.
