Up for sale is our 1990 FJ62 Landcruiser. It was purchased near the end of summer 2012 locally, and has been garaged all winter. It is currently female owned and loved, and I'am listing it for my girlfriend. She has decided to part with her dream vehicle due to unforeseen financial constraints.  I have owned 2 FJ60's and one FJ40 in the past, so I have a fair bit of knowledge about these unique vehicles. An original cruiser like this is getting very hard to find!

Exterior: The exterior of this FJ is in excellent original condition! Original paint that still shines, the body on this cruiser is REALLY straight! I could not find anything bigger than a minor door ding, and only two at that. The roof is perfect, doors shut nice and tight as they should, lift gate opens smoothly, bumpers pretty straight-each has 1 dent, tires have tons of life left-look almost new, all glass is original and factory etched in excellent condition-windshield has a couple rock dings, has old tint that I would remove if keeping but that is up to you. Body is almost rust free, honestly better than most original paint cruisers I have seen. There is a little starting where the rear window washer sits, and just a little on lower passenger side. I have pics of this included. This is really NOT a rusty cruiser! No rust on the roof gutters either.

Interior: The interior is in amazing original condition. Perfect un-cut dash, original tape deck stereo, no cracks in the dash! All gauges work as they should, nice center console, rear passenger heat, carpet is in great shape, rear seat is perfect, front seats are almost perfect-driver seat has the usual small rip from getting in/out- I haven't seen an original driver seat without this. Seats feel nice and firm like they should. Back of rear seat in great shape, not torn up like many I have seen, same goes for rear cargo carpet. Door panels are all excellent. Power windows and locks work fine. No strange odors, smells clean. Original jack and toolkit! Original owner manual in glove box too.

Mechanical: She starts up and idles nicely, cruises at highway speeds easily. Steering is nice and tight, suspension is also good. Doesn't smoke, no hesitation from idle etc., brakes work fine. Previous owner had rear half of exhaust replaced, and fluids changed recently. I would guess that all the miles on this cruiser were highway, hasn't been abused off-road or hammered down washboard roads. There is an oil leak from the main seal area that needs to be taken care of. I have fixed these before on previous 60's, it seems to be common. The part is cheap, and not bad if you can do it yourself. Overall the engine compartment itself is original and clean. 4 wheel drive works just as it should! No howling from transfer case.

I would LOVE to keep this cruiser myself! I have been kicking myself since I sold my FJ60, but I commute too much, gas is spendy, and I really wouldn't want to rack up the mileage on this 62. Keep it stock and original, or throw an OME lift and some 33's on her, maybe an ARB bumper? It's up to the new owner...Check out the pics, they should speak for themselves. If you have any questions please ask, we will be happy to answer.

All shipping will be paid and taken care of by winning bidder, a $500 deposit is required within 24 hrs of auction close, full payment within 7 days of auction close.

KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners

Sat, 30 Mar 2013

The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.

Toyota's $1.6B unintended acceleration settlement approved

Sat, 20 Jul 2013

Toyota is now one step closer to putting its unintended acceleration woes behind it as it has received approval from the US District Court for the Central District of California to settle loss-of-value claims to vehicles associated with the 2009-2010 recalls.
As we reported back in May, the Toyota settlement is worth $1.63 billion, which, according to Bloomberg, includes a payout of $757 million to affected owners, $227 million to attorneys and an additional $875 million for vehicle upgrades. (We did the math, too, and that totals $1.859 billion, but there is no justification for the discrepancy. Fuzzy math, eh?)
Based on the estimated 22.6 million vehicles said to be included in this suit, that would make the average payment about $33.49 per vehicle, but the article says that owners, lessees and even renters will receive varying amounts ranging from $9.74 up to as much as $10,000. This settlement does not affect suits filed for personal injury or wrongful death.

Scion FR-S Convertible (in Toyota GT86 form) spied in South Africa

Fri, 15 Feb 2013

Though the eventual existence of a convertible version of the Toyota GT86 (and its Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ versions for America) is a no-brainer, we've yet to get a glimpse of the real-deal car until now.
Spotted in Cape Town, South Africa, of all places, this completely undisguised GT86 convertible seems to be in a remarkably advanced state of development. The image seen here was obviously sniped from quite a distance and without the aid of a powerful lens, but we can still make out a production-ready looking piece of rear bodywork for the convertible top to hide away in, as well as a functioning trunk lid. It's hard to make out with any certainty, based on this evidence, but there does seem to be space retained behind the front seats for two, small rear chairs.
With the first car spotted, we'd expect to seem some more and better images of it flow through in the near future, and if not, Toyota has already confirmed a concept version for next month's Geneva Motor Show, dubbed FT-86 Open, so stay tuned. For now, click through to the FT86Club.com forum to have a slightly closer look at the images.
