1993 Toyota Land Cruiser As Is Project! Bad Transmission 4.5l on 2040-cars

Year:1993 Mileage:277002
Location:

McCammon, Idaho, United States

McCammon, Idaho, United States

1993 Toyota Land Cruiser project. It is dark hunter green.  It was a daily driver but now the transmission is not working properly. It wont' go in reverse or high gear.  It has a few small dings but it has never been crashed.

I drive it some times but about 40 mph is as fast as it can be safely operated.

The engine seems great. It leaks oil but does not burn oil. It recently passed smog check here in Meridian, Idaho.

The tires were recently replaced and are nearly like new. (Yokohamas) The starter and battery were replaced about 2 years ago. It starts crisp and easy and runs/idles smooth.

This is a partial list of the defects.

The power steering leaks and is empty. The paint has got those whitish patches from the clear coat breaking down. The front leather seats are falling apart.  The center console lid broke and was removed (and tossed) years ago.  The headlight switch is non operational and is operated by a toggle switch hanging under the steering consol. The plastic surround of the steering console is off and the clips that hold it in place are broken.  The windshield is cracked.  The gas charged hood and hatch assists won't hold them up any more. And yes, you will find more issues.

I have owned it for just about 20 years as I bought it in 1994.

It is kind of used up but would make a great project. It can be driven locally (not over 40 mph) but it is not ready to go!! This is a fixer upper in need of multiple repairs!!! It is sold completely "AS IS"!

I am not a shop.  I do not have shipping contacts but you will find me easy to deal with.  I know you can't be sure about an "AS IS" car until you see it.  If you win and come to look it over and find anything you do not like, I will refund the deposit and friendly end the transaction.  I ask that you come take a look with in 2 weeks.  Cash only, if you send a shipper, he must be able to look it over,  make a final decision and pay in cash.

Toyota to start production of hydrogen vehicles in December

Sun, 08 Jun 2014

Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle will be in showrooms sooner than planned, the Japan Times reporting that production will commence in mid-December with the sedan following "by the end of this year." No reason was given for the new timeline; Toyota has been saying all along that we'd see it in 2015.
The company is said to be "considering" production volume of "dozens of... vehicles per month" at a "likely" price of eight million yen, which is $78,030 US. That is well in line with the numbers thrown around last year, when the target was somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000. Then late last year, during our first drive of the FCHV mule, we wrote that "the official quote... [is] that a price of 'less than 10 million yen is ideal.'"
That alleged $78K is a sizable sum to be one of the early adopters on the hydrogen fuel cell wagon train, but with things moving around so much - and with Toyota publicly citing hydrogen fuel cells as the future - there's plenty of reason to be cautious about that number.

Toyota GT86 engineers explored shooting brake and sedan variants, are they still in the cards?

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

According to the Toyota UK blog, engineers for the automaker were so excited developing the GT86 coupe that they investigated producing a whole family of models based on the rear-wheel drive sports car. And at least one engineer - product chief Tetsuya Tada - still hopes it can happen, even if not everyone at Toyota is onboard. Tada: "Actually we tried to do this secretly but the executives found us out. They said: 'What are you doing? Will you please focus on the coupe.'"
Those mooted variants included both a four-door sedan and a shooting brake. Why? Aside from the pure excellence of a lightweight, brilliantly handling hatchback, Toyota was keenly aware of the fact that it may need to spread the cost of development out across several models. Tada says that's part of the reason why it was so easy to create the convertible. The company knew from the outset that a softtop version was in the cards, and built the machine's structure to accommodate having the roof sliced off.
Tada also made mention of the already-announced collaboration between Toyota and BMW. The engineer said that the GT86 was particularly helpful because it demonstrated just how successful a product conceived and designed by two different companies can be. While he didn't say exactly what Toyota and BMW are up to, it's clear the two are looking into a number of possibilities. It's an interesting read with a lot of

2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum 4x4

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

The Toyota Tundra is the automotive version of off-brand Cheerios: it doesn't dominate the market, and it's not the first model people think of when they hear the term "pickup truck."
Ford, General Motors and Ram dominate the segment with vehicles that offer ridiculous levels of towing and payload capacities and models loaded with luxury items and primed with tech-rich engines. The off-brands, meanwhile, are led by the Tundra, which while still accounting for six-figure sales (112,732 units in 2013, up from 101,621 in 2012), sits well behind the F-150s and Silverados of the world. After our first drive of the revamped 2014 Tundra, we came away thinking this truck is a total underachiever, aimed at placating Toyota loyalists and doing little to win over new customers.
But everybody deserves a second chance, and we thought a week's drive in a different environment might lead to a different - or at least a more fully realized - opinion. While the Tundra might not be an industry leader, it still makes it on many truck buyers' shopping lists. So, should you consider this off-brand pickup truck? To find out, we borrowed a top-of-the-line Tundra Platinum for a week. Read on to see what we found.
