1997 Toyota Landcruiser AWD SUV. I am the second owner (it was sold by a Knoxville Physician to a car dealer I know and I immediately turned and purchased from him - so it is listed as 3 owners, but I am in the real sense I am the second household this car has been in) and this has been my daily driver for 6 years. Currently has 226,900 miles-I am still driving it some. Leather interior seating for 7 including the rear cargo area fold-up seats. Am/fm/cd with iPod interface and amplifier, alarm, sunroof, ac, heat and rear heat, power windows and locks, tilt, Class 3 hitch (It pulls our 3500 pound wakeboard boat easily). Replaced radiator and battery last year. Michelin X-ice tires are 80% or better. Good oem spare. Has never been in major wreck or had frame damage. Rear right bumper was hit in parking lot before I bought and correctly repaired- no accidents at speed. I have had to touch up the exterior paint in places over time and those touch up places have faded some so that needs to be done again IF you wanted it to look near perfect - no rust or bare places- only areas which have been touched up over the years but at any distance, you do not see even those - no rust on body, all body panels are solid - Interior is very clean - only issue is the front leather finish is wearing off in places - the leather itself is in good order - no rips, tears. Carpet has no rips or tears or holes, anywhere - no major or unsightly stains. Small bulb which illuminates the AC power control is out, power controls still work, just need the bulb replaced behind if you wish to see the power level buttons at night. This never bothered me enough to fix. Mechanically, has been very sound over the years - almost always garaged - Uses some oil on higher speed interestate type driving over hours of driving - This takes several hours of high speed travel to notice any oil use. Also, does have an oil drip- I believe it is the rear seal. Again, this never bothered me enought to fix it and it doesn't leak enough to have to adjust fluid levels- my mechanic has told me this is fairly common on this series Landcruiser. Overall, this is a reliable, well maintained car. I have not seen one personally from this age in better condition. I have been on the fence for months about selling it as I have a newer Landcruiser now and am just having a hard time parting with this one. I have no worries about driving it anywhere. Feel free to ask me any questions. Reserve is set well below NADA retail (and I am using the correct mileage adjustment), and vehicle is up for sale locally so auction can be cancelled upon local sale. Sold as is without a warranty. Vehicle can be seen or driven any time prior to auction close with notifying me up front. Thank you

Judge halts Toyota unintended acceleration cases, triggers time for settlement negotiations
Mon, 16 Dec 2013So far, the lawsuits brought forth against Toyota for unintended acceleration have gone both ways: the automaker was found not at fault in a 2009 California crash and liable for a 2007 crash in Oklahoma. Both cases involved a Camry and resulted in fatalities. With a big chunk of these UA cases (around 200) set to his the docket of US District Judge James V. Selna in Santa Ana, California, Bloomberg is reporting that the judge has halted the lawsuits until March after Toyota and its lawyers have had extra time to try and settle the cases.
According to the article, Toyota is looking to take care of the cases out of court with an "intensive settlement process." Having already paid out $1.6 billion in "economic loss" suits, this latest settlement process is aimed at the wrongful death and personal injury cases allegedly associated with unintended acceleration. A hearing for the settlements will be held on January 14 with conferences on the matter commencing in February. There is no word as to when lawsuits may start back up if settlements can't be agreed upon.
Toyota explains what names like Camry and Yaris mean
Mon, 20 Oct 2014Ever wonder where automakers get the names for their cars? You're not alone. The sitcom Seinfeld opened Episode 94 - the one where George Costanza buys a Chrysler LeBaron instead of a Volvo - with a bit about nameplates like Integra, Supra and Impreza. Toyota, clearly, is not exempt from choosing evocative but enigmatic names for its models, and now the Japanese automaker is taking us through the etymology of some of its nameplates.
Names like Supra may require no clarification, but what about Camry? That comes from the Japanese word kanmuri for Crown (which is, incidentally, the name of another Toyota sedan).
Yaris? According to the company, it's "an amalgamation of words from Greek mythology and German. In Greek mythology, 'Charis' was a symbol of beauty and elegance. Toyota swapped the 'Ch' with 'Ya' - German for 'yes' - to symbolize the perceived reaction of European markets to the car's styling."
Toyota confirms all-wheel drive V8 hybrid for TS040 LMP1 car in 2014
Sun, 02 Feb 2014The 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship is gearing up to be one of the most exciting seasons of endurance racing in recent memory. All of the factory-entered LMP1 class cars are using hybrid powertrains, and Porsche is returning to the top class of the sport after a 16-year absence. Don't count out Toyota, though. The team has just revealed the first official details about its 2014 TS040 LMP1 car, and it has a big surprise - all-wheel drive.
The TS040 will follow Audi's lead and will use a combination motor and generator to power the front wheels. The system will generate power under braking and will use it up when accelerating to give a boost in traction over last year's rear-wheel-drive Toyota TS030. Toyota will stick with a gasoline-fueled, naturally aspirated 3.4-liter V8 to feed the rear wheels and will take on Audi's diesel, turbocharged 3.7-liter V6 and Porsche's gasoline-fueled, turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
Sadly, there are no real pictures of the TS040 yet. Toyota is holding off on unveiling the car until the end of March at the WEC test at the Paul Ricard circuit, and the racing season doesn't begin until April 20 with the 6 Hours of Silverstone. You can read the whole press release about the TS040 below.
