Toyota Land Cruiser Landcruiser Fj40 Restored Gm Ramjet Arb Rockcrawler on 2040-cars
Powderhorn, Colorado, United States
I am helping an old customer / friend sell his Land Cruiser collection. This is his 1972 FJ40 Custom Restoration. The restoration was professionally done a number of years ago and the cruiser has only been driven a few miles a year for the last few years.
This cruiser is a good value for the person wanting a great, professionally built, custom FJ40 with almost every feature. Having a cruiser built like this at any shop now would cost 60K-80K plus. Read below about the features and the condition and then email with any questions. I have the cruiser at my house so I can take any additional pictures upon request. I know the risks of buying a vehicle on eBay so I want to be completely up front about the condition of the rig and provide answers to all of your questions so there will be no surprises. Please keep in mind that a winning bid on eBay is a contract to buy, not just the right to come look at the vehicle and decide if you want to buy it. I am requiring a $1000 non refundable deposit within 24hrs of the end of the auction, so please only bid if you've communicated with me, and you are a serious buyer. I will consider adding a buy it now price if you are a serious buyer. Features:
Condition: With this few of miles after the restoration, this Land Cruiser is still in very good shape. After driving it about 70 miles to my house from the warehouse where it was stored for the last 7 years, I did notice a few cosmetic blemishes. There is a small crack in the bodywork on the rear quarter panel, and the passenger door has rubbed on the windshield frame where the top pulled it back too far. There is a dent in the body by the passenger side front fender. The undercarriage is still in freshly restored condition and looks great. The frame was powder coated during the resto. The underside of the body is coated in the same liner as the inside and firewall. Mechanically the vehicle is still in excellent condition. There are only 655 miles on it since everything was replaced, renewed, or inspected. There was a few drops of ATF under the torque convertor which may indicate a leaky front tranny seal, possibly from sitting. The transmission fluid is still at the correct level and the vehicle ran, shifted, and drove very well during my 70 mile trip home. I was disappointed at the stiffness of the ride and blame the shocks. SOA suspensions like this are traditionally known for providing a soft ride. I recommend switching to bilstein 5125 series shocks, which will provide a much better ride, plus they look better. Please contact me with any questions and I will answer them as soon as possible. Thanks |

Toyota Camry could lose No. 1 sedan spot next year [w/video]
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Eleven months after Toyota claimed the 2012 sales crown a couple of months early thanks to the Camry, the headlines this year have been quite a bit different to last. Even though the Camry remains the best selling car so far in 2013 and its volume has increased year-on-year, it has lost market share due to the 20-percent sales explosion in the midsize segment. That means people are buying more of the competitor offerings like the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion - the Altima, in fact, outsold the Camry by 100 units in March.
In July it was reported that Toyota was upping Camry incentives and fleet sales to keep its lead and that dealer inventory was climbing as, again, competitors got better at fighting the champion. In August Ford doubled down on production of the Fusion, adding a line in Flat Rock, MI to keep up with demand.
Bloomberg has a report looking at the numbers behind the Camry's dominance, as well as what appears to be a recorded group interview with Toyota USA CEO Jim Lentz, and wonders aloud whether the Camry will be able to hold its top spot in 2014. Barring catastrophe it has this year locked up, being more than 30,000 sales ahead of the next-best seller as of the end of August, but it has done so with higher incentives and lower transaction prices than its competitors. According to Strategic Vision the Camry's consideration rate among consumers has also declined by a percentage point, while the consideration rate for the Accord and Fusion has increased by one point and two points, respectively.
Toyota expands airbag recall to 2.27M vehicles worldwide
Wed, 11 Jun 2014Was your Toyota inspected under the company's recall campaign for faulty airbag inflators last year? You might have another trip ahead to have it repaired again. The automotive giant says that it found "the involved serial numbers provided by the supplier were incomplete, and did not include all of the potentially involved inflators," according to its official announcement. That means more replacements are needed.
Toyota's April 2013 inflator recall covered the Corolla, Matrix and Tundra from the 2003 and 2004 model years, the Sequoia from 2002 to 2004 and the Lexus SC 430 from 2002 to 2004. At the time, the company said it would need to inspect about 510,000 vehicles in the US but only expected to replace around 170,000 inflators.
However, the latest announcement increases that figure to about 766,300 vehicles in the US. Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the new amount is the combination of owners who need to have their vehicle looked at again and those who didn't come in for the initial recall. The company learned about the problem when Takata, the supplier, provided it with an improved list of the faulty part's serial numbers. According to The Detroit News, the latest recall affects about 2.27 million vehicles from them worldwide. Knight said owners would receive notification of the problem around the end of the month but repairs would come in phases because the automaker doesn't have all of the necessary parts at the moment.
NHTSA opens safety investigations into Toyota, GM and Honda crossovers
Fri, 08 Jun 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evidently keeping itself very busy these days, as the federal agency has just announced it is launching or renewing investigations into Toyota, Honda and General Motors crossovers.
2006-2008 model year Toyota RAV4 crossovers are under review for allegations of rear tie-rod rust which can result in failure. NHTSA also said it is probing some 35 complaints about 2005 Honda Pilot models with inappropriate activation of the vehicles' stability control system. The alleged malfunction can cause the vehicles to slow down or stop in bad unsafe situations. At the moment, NHTSA is reviewing a petition regarding the Pilot issue, a move that will determine whether it needs to open a full-blown investigation.
In addition, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers built in 2007-2009 are getting looked at for "loss of low beam headlamp" function. One complainant said the wiring in his Outlook overheated and melted. NHTSA says it has received 415 complaints about the problem and a GM spokesman confirmed that the automaker already started a "Customer Satisfaction Program" in December to address the issue.
