1991 Toyota Previa Le Mini Passenger Van 3-door Diesel 2.2l Turbo on 2040-cars
Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Toyota Previa DIESEL minivan!
This is a unique vehicle that is only available as an option in countries outside the United States. The
vehicle has a Toyota diesel engine and transmission imported from Japan
with low mileage and a clear GA title stating diesel. These cars are known to go a half million miles, especially with the diesel options. This vehicle has been nearly fully restored with fresh paint, a nice interior, and lots of preventative maintenance. This car is for the true Toyota diesel enthusiast! This
is the perfect car for a family that is eco-conscious and wants to
drive on alternative fuels, either biodiesel or Straight Vegetable Oil
(SVO). Also, this can be a great small traveling and
camping or delivery vehicle that gets great gas mileage.
We just put fresh paint on the car where needed, the wheels, and the bumpers. This car only has less than 10 thousand miles with its current diesel engine/transmission. These
vans were ahead of their time with the engine mounted below the driver
and passenger seats providing maximum room inside with a truck-like
frame yet a very comfortable ride, a very stable and safe vehicle.
Here are the details:
- 91 Toyota Previa diesel nearly fully restored - NOT AVAILABLE IN USA
- The body itself had over 200K miles before it was converted to a diesel, but is in very good shape
*** odometer discrepancy - odometer/speedometer shows 145,000k as it was replaced in the past.
- The diesel engine/transmission, imported from Japan, has less than 100,000 miles
- It will get 25 to 30+ miles per gallon depending on how it is driven
- Updated rear differential with better gearing for lower RPM's on Hwy - better mileage and faster($350 update)
- Speedometer just a little off due to this update
- Brand new pioneer radio with remote has been installed with CD and 1/4 ” input jack
- The interior and exterior are in very good condition
- 2 new tires rated at 70K, other two in decent shape
- Fresh paint job worth $1,500 - $2,000(not entire car)
- Diesel engine-tranny combo with swap kit from Japan valued at $2,600 plus installation
- Custom installation valued at $4,000 with many parts replaced including water pump, filters, and more…
- New air filter and fuel filters
- Runs and drives great!
- Nearly new battery
-
Some small quarks: driver door needs to be rekeyed, small scuff on
driver-side rear(barely noticable), e-brake light stays on, windshield
washer fluid system intermittent, small crack in plastic piece behind steering wheel.
- A $10,000+ value if you had to start from scratch! It is hard to find a Previa in this good of shape!
This is the perfect small eco-friendly delivery vehicle, traveling vehicle, or family vehicle. The engine is strong and starts right up even on very cold days. Great for Biodiesel or SVO! Nice small diesel van.
Sold as-is: buyer responsible for all vehicle inspections prior to auction completion.

Lexus gets new boss, and he's a designer
Wed, 26 Feb 2014A reshuffle in the uppermost ranks of Lexus could see the Japanese luxury brand further energize its recent focus on design. Tokuo Fukuichi, Toyota's global design boss, is the new head of Lexus International.
Fukuichi will retain his role as the overall head of design for Toyota, Lexus and Scion, and will assume his new position at the head of Lexus and on its board on April 1 (no fooling). This is going to be an interesting move for fans of design to watch, as Fukuichi has repeatedly been mentioned as a designer that enjoys pushing the edge of the envelope and experimenting. He is, after all, the man responsible for designing the most awesomely odd minivan of the 1990s, the mid-engined, rear-drive Toyota Previa, and more recently, he signed off on the controversial Lexus LF-NX concept, which is said to presage a new production small crossover.
"Regarding changes in design, no one has 100 percent confidence," Fukuichi told Forbes back in January 2013. "No one can really say with pure certainty that, 'In two years, this will sell well.'" As Akio Toyoda continues to demand more assertive, edgier designs, it's that point of view that should make Fukuichi a valuable addition to Lexus, as it continues to challenge the competition from Germany.
Toyota SEMA concepts promote active lifestyles, rallying [w/video]
Thu, 31 Oct 2013Toyota has six vehicles that it's bringing to the Specialty
Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show next week, all of which were developed by and for people who live active lifstyles. Four of them are the result of the Toyota Dream Build Challenge, which tasked a team of athletes and vehicle customization shops to build Toyota sedans, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles in seven weeks that would enhance performance in their respective sports.
We'll lead off with the CamRally Camry, developed by NASCAR driver Parker Kligerman, Kyle Busch Motorsports and Mooresville, NC shop Detroit Speed, Inc. for the Dream Build Challenge, because it appeals to us gearheads (sure, call us one-sided). It was totally transformed into a rally vehicle, and it has to be the most badass Camry we can remember seeing. The sedan is always a bit flaccid-looking in stock form, but the CamRally's wide body and other exterior upgrades and the turbocharger make us forget about that, as do its stripped, painted interior and Sparco race seat.
Australia may offer money to keep Toyota making cars there
Tue, 04 Jun 2013In the wake of last month's announcement that Ford will cease automotive and engine production in Australia after 2016, many are wondering what the country's other automakers will do. Holden has already confirmed it will stay the course despite Ford's exit.
Much of the GM subsidiary's reason for sticking around has to do with a deal made last year between Holden and the Australian government. In order to secure a GM investment of $1 billion and a commitment to keep manufacturing in Australia through 2022, the government threw in an extra $215 million. According to Australia's Minister for Innovation and Industry, Greg Combet, the government is now in talks with Toyota for a similar deal.
Toyota operates one plant in Australia, the Altona manufacturing and engine plant in Victoria. The facility produces the Camry, Camry Hybrid and Australasia-only Aurion for both the local market and export. The report from GoAuto indicates that negotiations with the Australian government would include adding production of a third, all-new model at Altona, possibly the new RAV4, because it shares many parts with the Camry.
