2010 Toyota Prius up for sale.  It's in good condition with about 78,000 miles.  I had it fully inspected by the Toyota Dealership in Annapolis and it was given the all clear.  I've driven it up to Vermont a couple times and I wouldn't hesitate driving it across country.  I purchased it from the original owner (a doctor) earlier this year.  I don't want to sell, but I was transferred to the West Coast.

It has gray leather seats, bluetooth, power windows/locks, upgraded JBL stereo system, cruise.  It has the push button start with smart key.

Full Disclosure:  It has dings, a couple small dents, and scratches.  It wasn't a city car, but it was used for commuting.  There's a small hole on the driver's seat (caused by a key attached to a belt loop).  I bought OEM leather to repair it but did not get around to it.  For now, there's OEM replacement leather between the hole and the seat cushion.  It is solely an aesthetic issue, the hole will not get bigger and you don't notice it unless you look at it.

I've ranged between 50-65 MPG in mixed driving.  Over the last 20,000 miles, I've averaged about 52 MPG.  That includes the lower gas mileage from the winter blend gasoline and the cold weather.  Since the spring, it averages about 57 MPG.  Toyota engineered a marvel - it's one of the most reliable cars on the road!

For the frugal folks out there.  This Prius cost about $0.06/mile for fuel (@ $3.50/gal).  Depreciation is less than $1,000/year.  If you're a commuter, this car is an obvious choice.

Payment is via certified check or cash only.  I have the title clear in my name.  The price is actually less than what these sell for at Manheim dealer auction!  See attached screenshot.  The car will be available for purchase/pickup after September 14th.

Honda scores big in Automobile Advertising of the Year Awards [w/videos]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

This year the Detroit Auto Show didn't just celebrate the automobile, it celebrated how we find out about the automobile, too. Partnering The One Club, this year introduced the 2014 One Show Automobile Advertising of the Year Award to Cobo Hall, celebrating winners in five different categories of advertising: broadcast television, online, interactive, experiential, and print/outdoor. Winners in those categories were judged by 50 creative directors and journalists, while a Public Choice category was chosen from among nearly 20,000 online votes.
Honda walked off with three of the six awards, its Hands spot taking Broadcast honors, its Sound of Honda getting the Online category and Illusions winning Public Choice. Hyundai made the grade in Interactive with Driveway Decision Maker, Fiat captured Print/Outdoor with its "Letters" ad, and Toyota's Tundra Endeavor Campaign spot and BMW's A Window into the Near Future were co-winners for Experiential.
You can watch all of the press release and winning videos below or check out all of the finalists, announced last month, for a refresher.

Construction of Lexus' first US assembly line underway

Thu, 09 Jan 2014

The ES is Lexus' top-selling sedan, but the Japanese luxury marque has never manufactured it outside of Japan. In fact, Lexus has never made any cars in the United States, one of its largest markets worldwide. But that's about to change.
Yesterday, construction began in Georgetown, Kentucky, on the first Lexus assembly line in America, the first concrete (or steel) step in a $360-million expansion of Toyota's plant in the Bluegrass state that will create 750 new jobs. The expansion was announced last April by chief executive Akio Toyoda at the New York Auto Show.
Once the new assembly line gets online in the fall of next year, Toyota plans on building some 50,000 units of the ES each year. Lexus sold a record 72,581 examples of the ES in the United States last year - 30 percent more than the previous year - so Lexus will either have to import some more from overseas or leave some buyers disappointed.

NHTSA urges owners of recalled Takata airbag vehicles to take immediate action

Mon, 20 Oct 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Department of Transportation are taking the unusual step of issuing a followup press release urging owners of certain recalled vehicles "to act immediately" to fix their cars and trucks. The problem in question concerns the repair campaigns for rupturing Takata airbag inflators issued in June and covers a long list of models from Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Infiniti, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac.
While NHSTA doesn't specifically say why the recall is vital in the new release, Toyota's own explanation in its newly announced renotification campaign earlier today sheds some new light on the topic. According to the Japanese automaker, in testing, Takata found a possible link between the rupturing airbag inflators and high humidity. NHTSA is advocating that all owners pursue repairs immediately if they haven't already done so already. This is especially crucial for those drivers especially in Florida, Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, Virgin Islands and Hawaii because of the humid conditions there.
We don't need to tell you how dangerous an inadvertent airbag deployment could be - even in a stationary vehicle - but adding to the Takata issue is fears that the deployment could lead to shrapnel being sprayed into the cabin.
