2004 Toyota Sequoia Limited up for auction. Reserve price is set significantly below Blue Book value. I am the original owner of the car. VIN # 5TDBT48A34S209966. 169K miles, mostly highway. Car runs perfectly, no leaks, etc. Never been in an accident. I have all the maintenance records. The interior is in good condition and clean. The exterior has some scuff marks/scratches on the bumpers and a few minor dents/dings elsewhere, but nothing major and overall in good condition.

Fully-loaded, including the following options:
4.7L V-8 engine
4WD
Heated outside mirrors
Moonroof
Heated leather seats
Front and rear dual-zone A/C and heat
Power windows, locks, and mirrors
6-disc CD player
Fog lights
Rear seat DVD entertainment system
Seating for 8 passengers

In addition to regular maintenance, the following repairs have been done recently:
New radiator and all hoses at 162K
New battery at 148K
New front stabilizer bar control links at 148K
New front brakes and rotors at 148K

The only issues with the car are as follows:
Power antenna is stuck in the up position. I've replaced it twice, but after a couple years it seems to start sticking again.
Rear hatch power window doesn't open. My mechanic said the motor needs to be replaced.
Windshield washer fluid low level warning light stays on. The sensor needs to be replaced.
Tires are getting low on tread and will need to be replaced probably within the next 10K miles. One of the tires is new (flat tire couldn't be fixed so we replaced it).
Serpentine belt squeals a bit and may need to be replaced soon.

We're starting to send our kids off to college, so we're downsizing. This car has lots of life left in it. I wouldn't be surprised if it runs another 100K+. The engine oil still looks new between changes.

$500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of auction close. Remaining payment in cash (preferred) or certified check/money order within 7 days. Buyer responsible for shipping costs. The car is available for inspection and test drive if you live locally. Please send me a message through ebay if you're interested in seeing it before bidding or have any questions.

Note: This car is also listed locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells before the auction end date/time.

Leaked Toyota FT-86 Open concept images preview droptop Scion FR-S [w/video]

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Here it is, folks - the highly anticipated Toyota FT-86 Open concept, a precursor to what could become a road-going Scion FR-S convertible. A full smattering of images and video have leaked onto the internet, and thanks to the folks at FT86Club.com, we can now see the new hotness that Toyota will be unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
These images confirm details that were first seen in spy shots captured a couple of weeks ago - namely, the larger wheel/tire package and the inclusion of the Toyobaru coupe's decidedly useless rear seats. These new photos, however, show a two-tone leather interior with goodies such as an iPod/iPhone mount on the dashboard. The concept car is also fitted with the coupe's six-speed automatic transmission (boo!) and FT86Club.com reports that the folding soft top is operated electronically.
We'll have the full details live from Geneva in just a few days. For now, click through our attached image gallery to see lots of pretty pictures of the topless wonder, and scroll down for a video to see the concept in motion.

180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains

Wed, 21 May 2014

If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.

Toyota drops detail about 414-hp Hybrid-R concept powertrain

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

The Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R Concept has been teased already, offering up little glimpses and details of the Frankfurt-bound vehicle. And while those few, shadowy shots have been great, we've really wanted to know how this hatchback would deliver its promised 400-plus horsepower. Under hood sits a 1.6-liter, race-derived, direct-injection, turbocharged four-cylinder that powers the front wheels. Sounds peachy, but with 414 horsepower splashed across the page, we're going to need something more than a 1.6-liter, turbo four.
A supercapacitor, developed from the Toyota TS030 Hybrid Le Mans racer sits in place of a hybrid's traditional battery packs. The benefit, according to Toyota, is that power can be more rapidly absorbed and discharged than in a traditional battery system, like nickel metal-hydride.
The gas engine is joined by a trio of 60-horsepower electric motors. Two of the them power the rear wheels, while the third sits between the engine and the six-speed, sequential gearbox. Developing the same amount of power as the rear-axle motors, this centrally located motor channels power to the race-derived supercapacitor during braking, and ships extra grunt to the rear wheels under acceleration when the front wheels start to lose grip. Besides the distributive power of the central motor, the rear electric motors can adjust the amount of torque flowing to each wheel, much like a differential.
