I bought this car a few weeks ago because I simply could not pass up the deal. I had sold my last supra with intent on purchasing a gtr, but couldn’t let this pass. Unsure of whether I would keep it or sell it, I picked it up and stuffed it in the garage. This is a one owner (prior to me) car with a 100% clean carfax. It belonged to aa 80 year old gentleman from ky who purchased it brand new. There is a folder 2 inches this with receipts of every last detail of maintenance. This guy spent as much as the car is worth now over the years taking it to the dealer for everything. The car dhas only one fault, he loved to drive and travel and the carfax shows it. If he was traveling he would have the car serviced at Toyota in Orlando and then a few weeks later in California. I am not hesitant to say that this is the absolute cleanest and most original supra I have seen. I droped the car off at a reputable local detail shop this week to have a few very minor rock chips fixed (very very few) and it looks fantastic. There are a couple very small hail dings in the hood if you really hunt for them but they would not photograph well. It has a supra embroidered bra that was kept on it for most of its life included in the sale. The car is a 9.9 inside and out. There were towels on the seats and the back seat had never been sat in. the car has all original glass and every vin tag except the driver fender. I do not know if the tag was removed or if it has had a fender replaced but as the pictures show it looks 100%. The engine bay is clean as a pin but I did not try to detail or armor all it up. What you see is what you get, a absolutely beautiful bone stock original supra that was overly pampered from the factory. The car starts, runs, drives, and shifts flawlessly the v160 has no grinds synchro or bushing issues. The turbos pull hard and don’t smoke. The factory cassette player still has the dealer demo tape in it. The only thing I have found missing is the targa wrench and that is it!!! Factory jack, spare, and targa holders in place. There are no leaks or rattles with the targa top and bolts are not stripped. Clutch feels perfect tires are in great shape 80% plus with all centercaps on the wheels. The brakes do have a tiny squeal sometimes and I have not had time to replace the pads but rotors look great. Take a look at the pictures and let them do the talking. I have a clean Indiana title in hand with no liens. I will only accept cash or certified bank check after approval . I can pick u up at Louisville international airport (sdf) and send you on your way. Please call or text I do not check my pms often. I work nights but have my phone on silent so call or text anytime. I can also put you in contact with a few guys who have bought supras from me before for approval. Again I am in no hurry to sell so please no crazy offers I will keep her in the garage a while longer if it wont bring what I think its worth. Car has 183k miles, but I bet its been driven 100 times softer and equally maintained than any other supra on the road. I would drive to California in a heartbeat without batting an eye.

Toyota delves into the history of its Land Cruiser

Fri, 06 Sep 2013

One of the longest-produced, most widely distributed vehicles in all of automotive history is also one of its most rugged: the Toyota Land Cruiser. With 60 years of continuous production, 14 different model lines and thousands of variations of the Jeep-like sports utility vehicle, the Land Cruiser became a success worldwide and developed a cult following among enthusiasts here in the US.
We'll be the first to admit that tracing the vehicle's lineage from its humble beginnings as a prototype for Japan's National Police Reserve in 1951 to what it is today isn't an easy task, especially when one considers that the types of Land Cruisers produced traditionally have varied from market to market. For example, the Land Cruiser sold in the US is very different from the US-only 40 series Land Cruiser-inspired FJ Cruiser, which is itself different from the Land Cruiser Prado sold in other world markets.
To cover the Land Cruiser's sixty-plus year history from start to present, someone over at Toyota UK was thoughtful enough to devote a plus-size blog post to it. It's worth a read if you have a spare 10 or 15 minutes - and even if you don't, you can check out our historical gallery above. Enjoy!

Toyota's Texas move could boost state's economy by $7.2B in 10 years

Thu, 15 May 2014

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and apparently that includes the Toyota's effect on the economy. The giant Japanese automaker's new headquarters in Plano, TX, will add an estimated $7.2 billion to the state over the next 10 years, according to a new study commissioned by the city and cited by Bloomberg.
The benefits appear to be an absolute steal compared to the direct incentives that Plano and the state are giving Toyota. The report finds that by the time the automaker's campus is complete in 2018, it could have 3,650 full-time workers there at an average salary of $104,000. The city has prepared $6.75 million in grants, plus property tax discounts, according to Bloomberg. In addition to that, the state is offering the business $40 million in incentives from its Texas Enterprise Fund. This is still a fraction of what Toyota is estimated to bring in.
Toyota announced in April that it would move its US operations to Plano after being headquartered in California since 1957. The move affects thousands of employees from the sales and engineering divisions. The first workers will arrive there this fall, but Toyota will eventually have a whole campus in Plano by late 2017. The move is expected to save it huge amounts in taxation and offer employees a lower cost of living. Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz also says that the Texas location puts the headquarters closer to more of the business' factories in the south. Texas certainly appears to be showing it some southern hospitality.

Jay Leno gets behind the curtain on the design of the Toyota FT-1 concept

Mon, 07 Apr 2014

Hinting at the future of Toyota performance vehicles, the FT-1 concept was one of the stars of the Detroit Auto Show this year. It even nabbed fourth place in our Editors' Choice list. While he's a few months behind the car's official reveal, Jay Leno managed to get the only existing concept of the sports coupe wheeled into his garage to take a closer look, and he's pretty impressed.
Leno speaks with Alex Shen and William Chergosky, the exterior and interior chief designers of the FT-1 respectively, to get a better idea of the inspirations behind the concept. Jay heaps high praise on it for mixing Italian and Japanese design and says he likes the look even more than the Lexus LFA. The coupe isn't a product of either country, though. It was penned at Toyota's CALTY Design Research center in Newport Beach, CA.
The designers go into the entire history of the FT-1, and Shen even admits that Toyota design lacks an emotional factor at the moment. It's a fascinating interview behind some of the little touches you might miss at first glance. Unfortunately, the model doesn't have the green light for production yet and may never get made. In any case, scroll down to watch Leno swoon over the coupe.
