Up for sale is my 2012 Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab 4x4 pickup truck.

Features include a 4.6L V8 engine, automatic 6 speed transmission with shiftronic, 310 horsepower, towing package, cold weather package, SR5 upgrade package (includes center console storage and center shifter as shown in pictures, rear underseat storage, backup camera, cd/mp3 player with aux and usb inputs, AM, FM, and satellite radio, handsfree bluetooth connectivity, power sliding rear window, running boards, keyless entry, power windows and locks, cruise control, traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, the Toyota Safety System including front and rear passenger side air bags, and daytime running lights. All service records for recommended service intervals available.

The tonneau cover and aftermarket wheels/tires are included in the asking price. The tonneau is a BakFlip G2 aluminum folding cover that locks with the tailgate. It keeps away thieves of opportunity and is more secure than a cheap vinyl cover. The tires pictured (V-tec Warlord 18x9 Rims, OWL Pathfinder 275/65/18 Tires) are rated for a 65,000 mile treadlife, and currently have about 9,000 miles on them. It's rated 14 city / 19 highway mpg, which I'd say is spot on as long as you aren't flooring it red light to red light or going 80+ on the blue route. My combined average over the past 3 tanks is sitting at 17.9 mpg with about 40/60 city/highway driving.

The truck is in above excellent condition mechanically; it has only been used for towing twice. There are no stains in the seats or carpet. The carpet floor mats are in average condition. The exterior paint is in average condition, with a few scratches here and there.

Toyota donates engineers, not money, to country's largest anti-hunger charity

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

Key to production of any kind is efficiency - the ability to achieve maximum productivity with minimal effort or waste. Toyota has become a master of efficiency, with streamlined manufacturing operations around the world. In fact, the Japanese brand has become so well known for efficient operations that it now offers consulting services for organizations and companies outside the auto industry.
It also offers the same consulting for non-profits, free of charge. The New York Times took an in-depth look at the transformative impact that Toyota's engineers had on the city's charities, including The Food Bank, the country's largest anti-hunger charity. The auto manufacturer helped revolutionize the way these organizations served the community, showing that there's more to corporate philanthropy than just donating money.
Head on over to the Times' website and give the story a read.

2014 Toyota Corolla gets marginal IIHS small overlap crash test score [w/video]

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

Toyota may have performed some major surgery on the 2014 Corolla, but that hasn't helped the Japanese automaker overcome tough new crash test procedures. The Corolla, Toyota's bread-and-butter compact sedan, managed only a Marginal score on the new small overlap crash test, which was just added last year.
Despite the low score, the Corolla performed well in the moderate overlap front, side, rollover and rear testing, which was enough to score it a 2013 Top Safety Pick. In testing in August, six of the Corolla's competitors earned the Top Safety Pick + award, for good or acceptable scores across the board.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Corolla's "Marginal" score was down to an "intruding structure," that could cause injuries to the lower left leg. There was also concern that in a collision, the driver's head would move after hitting the air bag, and collide with the A-pillar or dash.

Subaru to stop building Camry for Toyota in the US

Fri, 09 May 2014

It was back in 2007 that Subaru of Indiana Automotive, under contract from Subaru minority shareholder Toyota, built the first Toyota Camry at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Rumblings of the end of that contract work have been around for a while, as Subaru talked of expanding capacity to build more units and add a line for the Impreza, and Toyota talked of moving Camry production to its Georgetown, KY plant. The news was official internally last November when SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Camry production would end. Now, Automotive News reports that both automakers have admitted publicly that the end will come in 2016.
SIA currently has a 170,000-unit capacity devoted to the home-brand Legacy and Outback models, while a $400-million expansion increases that to 300,000 units to prepare the facility for Impreza production in two years. Freeing up the 100,000 units of production devoted to the Camry means a 400,000-unit capability, which is far more than Subaru needs at the moment, but the Toyota exit will allow it to expand any way it sees fit. Subaru has said it will absorb the workers on the Camry line and no jobs will be lost, the mayor of Lafayette saying the development could change the timetable for the expansion.
