It is time to sell my VW bug project. I will never get to it and I am tired of tripping over it. This is a cool car but quite the project, perfect to finish the way you like it.

I got this Bug the way you see it in the photos and have done nothing to it except a few hours of bodywork. The previous owner was in the process of restoring this bug when he had to put it outside to work on a more pressing project, while outside the snow and ice slid off of his shop roof and onto the car. He lost interest and I got it.  Working at a museum doing restorations full time means I don't have a lot of time for my own toys. I fixed most of the damage on it but didn't finish the drivers door, it may be easier to replace it but I have saved worse. The bug was freshly painted before the snow slide and you could probably get away with touching it up if you like the color.

I have boxes of new and used parts for this car including a new convertible top with new bows and padding. New glass. New Rubber seals. New wiring harness. New trim. I believe the only thing missing is the back of the back seat though I have never done a full inventory of the parts.

As it sits this car is assembled from several and the title i got with it is not for it so I am selling it with NO TITLE. The body is a 1960 convertible. The Chassis is a 1973 and the motor is from a 1963 Volkswagen Bus. I was told the motor ran when I got it but I never tried to start it. I believe it still turns but it has been sitting for several years since I have tried to spin it over so I am making no guarantees.

This is a no reserve auction, there is over 5000 dollars of parts and paint invested in this car and if you get it for less than it is yours. I need 500 via paypal in the first 48 hours and the rest in cash upon pickup. I will not deliver but I will help with loading, the tires are old and bald but they hold air. I can store the car for a while after purchase but not inside. This bug is located at the Wyman Museum in Craig CO and if you call or email I will be glad to answer any questions or take more photos.

Volkswagen Golf Wagon caught completely uncovered

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Without a lot of information to go with them, our camera-toting spies have captured some new images of a Volkswagen Golf wagon variant that is almost completely undisguised. In fact, the one piece of camouflage on the tidy wagon would probably have gone unnoticed to most casual viewers. Look closely at the rear three-quarter view of the car and you'll notice that the apparent taillight clusters are actually fakes - the outline of the real units is faintly visible behind the blue bodywork and the sticker-like fake taillights.
It's a good guess then, that this Golf wagon (called a Golf Kombi by our spy photographer) is a prototype that's pretty far along in the development cycle for Volkswagen. We can't be sure what impact this will have on the company's small wagon offering here in the US, but we'd be pretty surprised if something very like this didn't end up as the next Jetta SportWagen. We might well have more information on that front, after we visit Geneva next week.

VW updates Scirocco with revised styling, new engines

Sun, 16 Feb 2014

The Scirocco is undoubtedly one of the better-looking models in the Volkswagen lineup, but introduced back in 2008, it's now been on the market - some markets, anyway - for the better part of six years. VW is said to have an all-new replacement in the works, but before that arrives, the German automaker has announced a facelifted version with revised styling and a new engine lineup.
Set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the new Scirocco benefits from updated styling front and rear, high-tech exterior lighting, a revised cabin space with some throwback retro touches, some new technologies and, of course, an array of fresh wheel options ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
The updated Scirocco will be offered with a wide array of engines right from the get-go, including four gasoline options and two diesels, spanning from 125 horsepower all the way up to the 280-hp Scirocco R. The 2014 model hits European showrooms in August, but unfortunately isn't any more likely to make the transatlantic voyage Stateside than the version it replaces. Still interested? There's plenty to see in the high-res image gallery above and details in the press release below.

VW Super Bowl teaser with Jimmy Cliff is like a less-mean Tosh.0 Web Redemption

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Reggae super-duper-star and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jimmy Cliff has been using music to send positive vibes out into the universe for decades now, so its no surprise that his message on behalf of Volkswagen is one of redemption.
Dubbed Sunny Side, this web-spot is VW's warmup of sorts for what promises to be another blockbuster year in the world of Super Bowl commercials. Without giving away the game, the euphonious commercial sees Cliff opening his arms and his heart to some YouTube 'celebrities' that might see courser treatment from the likes of Tosh.0, for instance. We can't help but be reminded of Coca-Cola's legendary 1971 Hilltop spot with the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" lyric, too.
Enjoy the pre-Super Bowl VW spot below, and don't forget to pay it forward... your karma will thank you. For those of you that just can't get enough of commercial-making magic, we've included a "making-of" video, as well.
