1966 CLASSIC VW BETTLE
PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED DESIRABLE METAL SUNROOF
This car is a beautifully restored
1966 CLASSIC VW BEETLE. It was a ground
up restoration that was completed in 2009. The car is absolutely beautiful. This
is a car that you will be proud to own!
All systems in this car are in
perfect working order. This car has not seen rain since its restoration in 2009
and it has been carefully garaged and maintained.
This was originally equipped with a
1300cc motor, but it was replaced with a remanufactured 1600cc motor from 1970
for some extra power. The carburetor is
a new Solex unit with a modern air filter for better performance.
As far as driving manners, this car
is a total class act. It starts easily, and the drive train responds
beautifully as you would expect from a car restored to this standard. The
suspension is very sure-footed on the road and when you hit a bump, it responds
properly without rattles or shudders. The car was recently converted to front
disc brakes and it has excellent braking under all
conditions. Way better than drums!
The body on this car is absolutely
beautiful! The body work is of excellent quality; this is the handiwork of a superior shop. The color
is an original VW color (Sea Blue). Most of the chrome in this car is new, but
some of the chrome hardware is original (like the window cranks and interior
door handles). The original chrome shows a little bit of pitting, but it gives
a little bit of patina and charm. This
restoration is from 2009, so naturally, there may be a little bit of surface
rust here and there in the undercarriage, the exhaust pipes, and on the pan.
Nothing to worry about.
Inside, the car has an incredible
amount of charm, the sunroof gives it a great airy feel. An original working
radio is included. You can’t help but smile in this car J
The car is being sold due to a
spouse complaining about too many toys.
A full-size spare tire is included
with the car, it just missed the photo shoot.

Volkswagen CrossBlue previews a three-row future, diesel-hybrid power [w/video]
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Volkswagen looks to be getting ready to jump into the large three-row crossover game. The automaker has officially pulled back the curtain on the CrossBlue Concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
Designers and engineers penned the machine specifically for the Canadian and US markets, and with a plug-in diesel electric hybrid drivetrain, the hulking five-door, at least in concept form, should offer substantially better efficiency than anything else on the market. The drivetrain pairs a 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 305 horsepower and a ludicrous 516 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed dual-clutch gearbox handles shifting detail, while one electric motor spins the front wheels. The second motor spins the back axle independently, make the CrossBlue a through-the-road hybrid.
As a result, the crossover can pop to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Perhaps more impressively, the CrossBlue can whir around on all-electric propulsion for up to 14 miles at up to 75 mph. Once the diesel four kicks in, the drivetrain can yield up to 39 mpg, though Volkswagen says the hardware can hit 89 MPGe on a full charge thanks to a 9.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Check out the full press release below for more information.
Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid
Mon, 28 Apr 2014Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.
Next Volkswagen Golf R to get 286 horsepower?
Tue, 12 Feb 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't launched in the United States just yet, but we're already setting our sights on the range-topping R model. According to Autocar, the next Golf R will be more powerful than the current version, producing 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful production Golf ever.
Powering the new Golf R will be a further evolution of Volkswagen's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, and when mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the hotter hatch will reportedly be able to sprint to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat. That's over half a second quicker than the current US-spec model.
Other updates for the new Golf R include the addition of VW's Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive system found in the latest iteration of 4Motion. Furthermore, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new R is expected to weigh in around 2,650 pounds - that's a massive 675 pounds less than the current US-spec car. The exhaust has reportedly been reworked to provide more aural delight, as well.
