Custom Built 1972 Vw Bug Sharp on 2040-cars
Calvert City, Kentucky, United States
You are looking at a custom-built 1972 VW setting on a mid-60's floor pan. All trim has been removed fenders and hood and deck lid are from a 66 model and running boards molded to car, old school fenders with mid-60's headlights, rear custom taillights. Door handles are shaved with suicide doors, hand-painted pinstripes above headlights and on rear deck lid. Paint has a few imperfections and very light paint chips from driving. Car is setting on air-bag suspension, one bag up front and two in the rear with three switches. Front has narrowed front beam also. Interior has custom suede headliner and rear deck cover, custom front and rear seats and dash. Carpet is just like new. Motor is a 1600 DP with single one-barrel, very clean motor with low miles. Runs perfect! Transmission is a 4-speed VW, no grinding gears or jumping out of gears. Car is very, very dependable. With cruise 70mph with no problem at all or strain on motor or trans. Floor pans are all new and done right. The car gets attention whether you are driving or parked in a parking lot, especially when you get out of the car and lower the air bags and drop it on the ground and open the suicide doors to get out. Motor compartment is very nice; under front deck lid needs carpet. The release buttons for the hood and deck lid are hidden. Doors open with remote poppers. Everything works on the car, except the wipers have not been hooked up. Any questions, please email or call me at (270) 816-2526. |

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring
Wed, 22 May 2013The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
VW investigating Golf water leak discovered by car magazine
Sat, 07 Sep 2013Volkswagen is in a spat with German magazine Auto Bild over claims that its new, seventh-generation Golf may already need a recall. The German weekly reports that new Golfs can leak water into front-passenger footwells due to a faulty drainage tube in their air conditioning systems.
And while the fix itself doesn't sound too terrible, because Volkswagen bases so many cars off the same platform as the Golf, Auto Bild is claiming that 300,000 models could be affected, including the Audi A3 and Seat Leon. That's a very bold claim. For its part, VW is vehemently denying that number, according to Reuters, saying it's aware of the problem and claiming only 46 Golfs need fixing. In addition, it denies that any Audi or Seat models are affected by the issue.
Either way, regardless of how pervasive this leak issue is, North American buyers should rest easy knowing that the problems ought to get fixed by the time the Mk VII Golf finaly reaches our dealerships.
US-spec 2015 Volkswagen Golf and GTI to finally debut in New York
Tue, 12 Mar 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf is hardly new to us. In fact, we've already driven it. And elsewhere in the world, the new Golf is already winning awards. Even so, we still have yet to see the US-spec version of the car, though that won't be the case much longer. As part of the New York Auto Show festivities later this month, Volkswagen will finally show off the 2015 Golf models destined for our shores.
Three different versions of the Golf will debut under the lights of New York City's Javits Center: the turbocharged TSI, oil-sipping TDI and hotter GTI. The first model in that list uses Volkswagen's new 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline five-cylinder. The latter two models use familiar engines: the 2.0-liter TDI diesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, respectively.
Even though the new Golf officially debuts later this month, it won't go on sale in the US until the first quarter of 2014. We'll be waiting patiently.
