UP FOR AUCTION I HAVE A 2000 VOLKSWAGON BEETLE GLS DIESEL.IAM A WHOLESALE DEALER I BUY FROM NEW CAR STORES,FINANCE CO,LEASING CO, OTHER DEALERS ECT.THIS TDI BEETLE I KNOW RUNS AND WAS DRIVEN IN TO THE NEW CAR STORE WERE IT WAS TRADED IN.I WALKED AROUND IT CRANKED IT UP AND TOLD THEM WHAT I WOULD GIVE FOR IT IF THEY COULD TRADE BUT HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT.THE OWNER WHO TRADED IT IN SAID IT WAS FINE ACCORDING TO THE OTHER DEALER I GOT IT FROM.THE DEAL WAS DONE ON A FRIDAY I WENT BY ON MONDAY TO PICK IT UP IT WOULD NOT START.IT TURNS OVER AND ACTS LIKE ITS NOT GETTING FUEL.I HAD IT TOWED TO MY PLACE.IT WAS VERY LOW ON FUEL I PUT 5 GALLONS IN IT STILL DID NOT START IT MAY HAVE AIR IN THE LINES AND NEED SOMEONE WHO KNOWS VWS TO BLEED IT OUT.ITS MOST LIKELY SOMETHING STUPID BUT I DONT KNOW FOR SURE.I SELL THESE CARS JUST LIKE I GET THEM AS IS I DONT EVEN TIGHTEN UP A LOOSE SCREW.IF ITS BROKE WHEN I GET IT THEY LEAVE BROKE.THE CAR HAS 4 ALMOST NEW MICHELIN TIRES.NEWLY TINTED WINDOWS .NEW AFTERMARKET RADIO,NEW SPEAKERS,NEW BRAKES,FRONT CV AXELS,AND GLOW PLUGS ACCORDING TO A FOR SALE SIGN THAT WAS IN THE CAR SHOWING THE OWNER WAS ASKING 6250.00.IT HAS ALL POWER AND MOON ROOF.IT ONLY HAS 128,000 MILES ON THE LITTLE CAR.THE INTERIOR IS PRETTY CLEAN BUT COULD STAND A GOOD DETAIL.THE DRIVERS DOOR PULL HANDLE IS BROKEN SEE PICTURE.THE EXTERIOR IS IN GOOD CONDITION IT HAS SOME MINOR DINGS AND SCRATCHES AND SCRAPES.THE CAR IS NOT PERFECT I DONT CLAIM FOR IT TO BE IT IS 14 YRS OLD.I HAVE NOT TRIED TO DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR TO GET IT RUNNING AND NOT GOING TO.I PUT 4500.00 IN THE CAR MY LOSS YOUR GAIN. VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans
Thu, 24 Jul 2014During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.
Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
VW Golf GTI wrung out by Chris Harris
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Enthusiasts like nothing more than to crucify modern interpretations of their favorite performance models for failing to live up to some imagined ethos. Even the Volkswagen GTI has suffered its fair share of slings and arrows for growing in size and curb weight. Chris Harris recently spent some time with the all-new MK VII GTI to find out if growing up means giving up on what makes the machine so special.
Judging by his comments, Harris certainly doesn't think so. Yes, the new GTI is considerably more comfortable than its predecessors, but that's hardly a bad thing. The multitude of driving modes actually seem to add depth to the car rather than simply try to force one tool to do many jobs, and Harris even finds the machine's electronic power steering tolerable. As a result, Harris goes so far as to call the Volkswagen GTI "one of the best cars to actually own." How's that for high praise? You can watch the video for yourself by scrolling below.
