2001 Volkswagen Beetle:  1.8L GLS Turbo  Excellent Condition

I bought this vehicle 3 years ago for my daughter.  She is now in College and we don't have a need for the vehicle.  It is Metallic Green.

Mechanical:  No issues.  This car has always run flawlessly for us and has amazing pick up with the turbo.  I have made certain it has been meticulously maintained
Rear tires:  New; Front tires:  70% tread; Battery:  New; Brakes:  Checked 400 miles ago and need nothing.  MP3 equipped stereo professionally added (Original stereo is functional and in place)  MP3 connection cord is through the glove box.  No leaks; No lights, etc.

Cosmetic:  The car spent its life in Texas before I purchased it.  There is absolutely no corrosion on this vehicle.  That is why I bought it from the South.  The images reflect age related wear and tear.  There is a scuff on the right front plastic bumper (repaired)  It is not very noticeable unless called to your attention.  The side boards beneath the door on each side have a few little dents in them.  Many, if not most of these cars seem to have these eventually.  I have included pictures of them.  A few minor scuffs on the 2 or 3 of the wheels are present.  There is a minor sun related fade difference between the rear quarter panels (plastic) and the metal).   Again, nothing major, but I want to make certain I disclose anything that may be noticed by a new owner.  Rear fender has been replaced, following a parking lot fender bender (under 10 mph), approximately 1 yr ago.

Interior:  Excellent condition.  No rips or tears in the leather.  Minor, expected age related wear

This is a very nice vehicle and very reliable.  This is not a show car.

I will accept reasonable offers, but am not financially pressured to sell the car.

Title is in my possession.

Thank you for looking.  Please call me or email me with any questions

Volkswagen Golf Wagon leaked ahead of official unveiling

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

Wagons ho! These three images of the upcoming Volkswagen Golf Wagon have leaked online ahead of the car's official debut, which may very well be at the Geneva Motor Show. Looking over the photos doesn't really bring any surprises - after all, this is a VW Golf with a wagon rear end grafted on, or basically what we expect next Jetta SportWagen will be.
We can only share these three images at this time, but fret not, folks. There's little doubt that all the details and images will be flowing from Volkswagen in short order. In the meantime, click on the images above to view them in high resolution.

2014 Volkswagen Golf GTD is our favorite oil-burning GTI

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

The 2014 Volkswagen Golf GTD has officially bowed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Engineers managed to squeeze an additional 14 horsepower and 22 pound-feet of torque out of the familiar 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, nudging total output to 184 hp and 280 lb-ft for 2014. The figures are good enough to earn the GTD the honor of being the most powerful diesel Golf in Volkswagen history. A start/stop system helps improve efficiency over the previous generation with the new model consuming 56 miles per gallon on the EU cycle. That's up from the 2013 model's 46 mpg. A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, though a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox is also available.
The GTD also offers buyers a few aesthetic tweaks to help separate the hatch from its less potent siblings. Those include a more aggressive front fascia, special badges and 17-inch alloy wheels. Expect to find the GTD in one of three exterior colors, including Tornado Red, Black and Pure White. Check out the quick press release below for more details.

EU formally questions French government assistance of Peugeot's finance arm

Fri, 28 Dec 2012

Recently, the finance arm of PSA/Peugeot-Citroën was in such debt trouble that it was pricing itself out of the car loan market. The rates it was paying to service its debt, which was rated one step above junk, were so high that it was forced to charge car-buying customers higher rates than they could find elsewhere. This was adding to Peugeot's already impressive woes by sending revenue out the door to competitors.
Two months ago a deal was worked out with the French government whereby the state would provide 7 billion euro ($9 billion USD) in bonds to guarantee the finance arm's loans. The French government could nominate someone to join the Peugeot board, Peugeot would guarantee more French jobs, and on top of that deal, other banks would provide non-guaranteed loans. The government would take no equity stake in the car company.
Although not yet finalized, the arrangement is meant to create some breathing room for Peugeot Finance to lower its interest rates for customers, and a government-nominated board member, Louis Gallois, was recently named to Peugeot's supervisory board. The arrangement was also openly questioned by at least three competitors: Ford, Renault - which is 15-percent owned by the French government after it received state aid - and the German state of Lower Saxony, itself a 15-percent shareholder in Volkswagen.
