***CHECK OUT THE SWEET VIDEO'S BELOW***
I also have over 80 pictures of my bus during performance upgrades!
E-mail and I will send you the website link.

Due to their limited production, 15 Window Deluxe Microbuses (especially early walk-thru models) are far more rare than 21 or 23 Window deluxe Microbuses.  Now here's your chance to own an amazing and rare piece of history!

This bus was purchased 4 years ago from the original owner in California, who back in the mid '80's had some legendary pro's restore her to her current condition interior/exterior.  The running gear was completely stock, but I prefer more performance with a bit of attitude. All of the performance upgrades were done at Franklin's VW Werks who I've known for 20 years and is considered a pioneer in VW Bus performance modification. The purist in me kept everything pretty much bolt on or off so she can be returned back to stock very easily.  There was absolutely no body cutting, tubbing or anything ridiculous.  I had the undercarriage completely soda blasted and undercoated with Raptor bed liner in L380 and black to give it a striking, but clean look with maximum durability.  I had all the moving parts painted a nice black and replaced all the nuts and bolts (mostly stainless steel).

She's a one-of-a-kind, rust-free Cal bus that makes a classic statement with a touch of attitude.  Over $80K invested and as you can see, she's in amazing shape and in near mint condition!  I've listed all the "bells and whistles" below and have posted videos and extra pics for you to really see her in action and more detail.

ENGINE

1915cc (roughly 2,000 miles), Dual Weber 44's w/ hex linkage, Deep sump w/ full flow oil system and external oil filter, 1.5" merged ceramic coated exhaust, Ceramic coated scat muffler, MST serpentine belt system, 95 amp alternator, Optima battery, Tins very clean and painted silver, black and L380 turquoise to match.  Gas tank was completely cleaned out and sealed internally and painted black.

RUNNING GEAR

Freeway flyer (roughly 50 miles) painted silver with swing arms painted black, KYB gas shocks, Sumitomo 205/40ZR17's on 17x7.5 Enkei performance wheels, New brake lines, New double stage master cylinder for quad disc brakes, Rear discs with Type 3 calipers and eBrakes, Front 2" drop spindles and discs with Type 3 calipers, 4" narrowed cut and turned front beam with "67 ball joints for solid handling and stability.

INTERIOR

L 87 Pearl white paint on main body, L 62 Ivory paint on stick shift, steering column etc. Super rare Ambulance Fan (not wired), Como Green Deluxe side panels and headliner (some original), Uncut dash, Rare Blaupunkt radio, Clock, Gas gauge, Original floor mats, Correct short middle seat, Garment hangers, Seat belts on all seats, Window guards (Jail bars), Carpeted hatch storage, and sweet vintage Thermos cooler with original ice pick.

EXTERIOR

L 380 Turquoise L 87 Pearl white paint (introduced late 1961), Safari windows, Rare european Bosch headlamps, Westfalia style roof rack, Splash guards (rear bumper), Original VW gas cap, Deluxe trim with original rocker spears, bumper trim and outie vent trim.

Everything is fully operational except for the windshield wipers, clock, radio and ambulance fan. The tail light lenses are plastic repro's.  It does not have the heaters hooked up, but does have very nice beefy stock (not aftermarket) heater boxes that can be attached to the main tube with ease. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.

Volkswagen NMC production guise caught in China

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

Chinese car site Autohome has what are said to be the first pictures of the Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe concept in production form. VW's NMC was just introduced at the Beijing Motor Show, while background chatter indicated it would go on sale in China, Autohome says that production version will be built at the Shanghai-Volkswagen plant in Ningbo, and the retail guise could be introduced at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November and go on sale that same month.
Assuming this is the production car, its main lines have made the jump from the concept but with less fine detailing, a silver hue and with conventional VW wheels it's lost a little bit of oomph. Still, a few checkmarks on the option sheet can fix most of that, the shape remains handsome and the 2.0-liter turbo underhood keeps performance peppy and mileage frugal enough. You can head to Autohome for a couple more photos of a sedan we'd be happy to make room for over here.

Volkswagen lays off 500 Chattanooga workers

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

The redesigned Volkswagen Passat has been a decent seller since its debut in 2011, but sales have apparently dropped off enough that the automaker is trimming some of the employees from its Chattanooga, TN assembly plant. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen will be cutting shifts and laying off 500 contracted workers in response to slowing sales.
Currently, the plant has three teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday, but starting May 13, this will be reduced down to two teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. This will be done to reduce dealer inventory (the article says that VW dealers, on average, have a 97-day supply of Passats) and production capacity (currently running at an annual pace of 170,000 units, which is more than the 150,000 annual units the plant was planned to produce).
This, of course, isn't saying that the Passat has been a failure since VW added 200 full-time employees to the plant in February 2012 to keep up with increased demand. The AN article says that automakers frequently overstaff plants during the launch of a new product - or in this case, a new product and a new plant - but eventually reduce the workers as things run smoother and more efficiently.
