1968 VW Adventure Camper NO RESERVE

1st year of the Bay windows. Adventures are getting rarer and harder to find these days, especially the early ones with the upright type 2 motors. 68 to 71.

This camper is gutted, but a good start if your looking for an Adventure. Motor was junk and sitting in the cargo area. I've got it and it goes with the bus, with the normal auction. I also have a complete1600 dual port turn key that I just built for another project. It's been bench tested, and the rings just broken in. 140 plus compression all 4 cylinders, AS41 dual relief case, Alternator, Doghouse cooler. Ready to go that will also go with the bus ONLY with the "Buy it now". If the regular auction plays out, then the core motor goes with it, and whatever parts we can find.

Cab floor, and walk thru really dry, cargo floor has a spot on it (see pic). I got the brakes up, and they seem to be fine. FG top is in decent condition but needs to be compounded out some where down the line.

Right rear corner will need work, but nothing that can't be done while you drive the bus, and is rough but presentable. It's got plywood closing off the 2 rear flat large windows. I have the glass for them and seals are cheap. It's a good bus to start with and collect an interior, finish up body work etc. for it while you drive it and restore it. It does and will need work but the price reflects that.

Front end looks great, tires are decent shape, even the spare. Steering is tight.

I've blown out my tendon in my right arm and can no longer work on this bus for the next several months so that is why it's going. NO, I can't install the motor, which means it's not a driver. There is a great VW shop less than 30 miles from my house that just specializes in VW's (mostly air cooled) who can not only install the engine for you, and the glass, bleed the brakes etc. if you want to drive it home. I will get it there for you, but, YOU will negotiate price and pay on pickup. I've also got misc. small camper bits lying around that I will just throw in with the bus.

Anyway, regular auction price, you get the core motor. Buy it now, get's the rebuilt 1600 dual port. Check engine prices, it's a good package, motor is turnkey and worth more than half of what I'm asking in the "buy it now"

Clear title in my name. AS IS, WHERE IS. Once again, I will get it to B&C VW if you want them to finish the installation, otherwise buyer is responsible for pickup.

Also, that little rocket of a bug in the background is going up too. Apparently, surgery is expensive these days.

Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.

Volkswagen Golf Variant Concept R-Line puts the sport in SportWagen

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

With the introduction of the newest Volkswagen Golf Variant, we get an early look at what will most likely be the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here in the US. To further wet our appetities, VW is now teasing something a little sportier with the Concept R-Line. Looking the part of a GTI wagon (or a stretched Golf R), the Golf Variant Concept R-Line has a production-ready appearance that has us hoping we'll see this sporty wagon sooner rather than later.
The R-Line starts off with a new fascia that isn't quite as aggressive as the recently introduced GTI, but it gives the new styling some extra punch. Below the fascia is a lower splitter that visually carries back into the rocker panel extensions, and the rear of the car gets some bright exhaust tips and a rear diffuser. The Lapis Blue Metallic paint job probably does enough on its own to add a sporty flair to the Golf wagon, and it's all finished off with 18-inch split-spoke wheels. Inside, the Concept R-Line shows off sport seats wrapped in carbon leather featuring blue nappa inserts in the middle.
Rightfully so, VW brought the Concept R-Line to Geneva with its TDI and 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. A sporty, all-wheel-drive diesel wagon? Yes, please. Scroll down for the full press blast with all the details.
